Nice? Yeah and even better than any other metropolis of the world in terms of architectural modernity but it's insane. China's state run companies are too much concentrated in Beijing that indirectly makes the rest of the country poorer.

not really, only have time to walk around in Tianjin Univ, anyway it's all covered with snow and very hard to drive.

yes, most SOEs are located in BJ because it makes them easier to manage and control. Government can be seen as an industry of Beijing, but it does not necessarily bring other areas down because of that.
