Battled crowds at Stockland Wetherill Park to get cheap baby car seats this morning.

Got home in time to watch Hayden get out with next to f*** all again in the Boxing Day test.

Highlight of yesterday was playing drunk cricket at a riverside oval at Gladesville - after about 12 dot balls, I managed to connect one! And my right arm slow whatevers got tonked all over the park, like they deserved to be.

thank god thats all over with for another year:lol:

My favourite gift wasnt really a present at all. My cousin works at the Coke factory and he turned up with 6 six-packs of grolsch beer for the big lunch. Each employee were given a couple of cartons plus other stuff. Anyway at the end of the day, there were still 3 six packs left and no one else in my family wanted them. I stepped in! I was more happy with them than any of my presents

Eureka!

Driving north last night (Sydney - Lismore)... stopped for fuel at the Caltex at South Grafton. However, the lot next door interests me somewhat.

Is anyone familiar with the old bloke with the white beard and white robes that hangs around the area? I've seen him a few times now - my mate has coined him "Santa Jesus". On previous trips I have seen him waving at passing motorists, another time sitting under a blue tarp he has setup. This year, I've noticed that the blue tarp has been replaced by what looks like a non-sanctioned driver reviver - out the front is a sign that reads "Jesus Christ Heart of the Nation".

Merry Corporate whore day! Or to those who actually treat it as a religious day, Merry Christmas. :)

I had a nice Christmas. Traditionally spent christmas on the 24th as many people do here now.

Spend the day shopping madly then had friends over for supper and drinks in the evening, Watched some of Carols. Lit candles, made cocktails and had cheese, crackers and rum balls with plum pudding and brandy custard. Then after something to eat we all opened our presents and settled in for a long night laughing and drinking.

Was a wonderful and special evening.

Christmas day I slept in and then went to various parties and get togethers later on in afternoon.

Merry Christmas everyone.

That sounds like fun :)

But why the 24th?

It's just the tradition in Scandinavian countries: Santa visits on the evening of the 24th, so thats when people celebrate and open presents.

^^Same in Poland.

Big dinner on xmas eve followed by presents then midnight mass.

That sounds like fun :)

But why the 24th?

Because its just easier and more christmasy I guess. In Germany its done that way too. For me celebrating on the evening of the 24th is normal. Getting up at 5am on Christmas morning is something you do with kids who still believe in santa.

Ah xmas, the old social norm of beauty - you ignore your family then suddenly remember them, and gather together to exchange rubbish.

Do you do it because you really care, or because it's just expected?

Now there's a good thread question. But nobody likes to hear the the truth - ears clasped into the future.
