Guangzhou East tower will start in 2009,And the chow tai fook group(Hong Kong New World China Land) won the East Tower Project

At 10 o'clock on September 12, 2008, the Guangzhou East Tower project will bid for World in the Pearl River New Town Center land transactions. As a result, the whole auction only once Jupai eventually Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Ltd. reserve price 2860 yuan / sq m price easy triumph.

As a landmark building of Guangzhou CBD, the Pearl River east of the new tower construction project from start to the beginning of the industry attracted a lot of outside perspective. From the start of the "6 into 5" to "5 into 3", level by level out after the Yuexiu Urban Real Estate, Chow Tai Fook (Hong Kong New World China Land) and Yi was the last day of the Group of qualified bid. However, the outside world that was originally three rooms giant enterprises in the East Tower project will be put on a fierce scramble standard large, competitive bidding situation at the scene let people give consent.

from the bottom render, you can tell theyre still trying to make it compliment the west tower,
but that only makes it look tacky. i would rather have them be twins.

Yeah, I am pretty disappointed. I thought it's going to be the same design as the West Tower. Plus, it changes everything. Look at the landscape now and the view of the city. It is totally in disproportion. They better stay with the old design and probably just change the colors.

South tower is already essentially GZ TV tower, and north tower is essentially CITIC plaza. So your plan is already realized, in a way. When the park is done, it will look awesome to see the 4 monsters on all sides, especially west and east towers. Recently, i went to guangzhou and on their billboards which advertise the cityscape, they were using the proposed one posted on this thread, which wasn't too nice. and by the way, the proposed design looks like one of the buildings in singapore, but taller and blue.

In my opinion, the cladding for this proposed design is too light in color and will make it look odd as the west tower has a darker cladding.

Well, now we need to hope that if the final desing isn't the west tower design or something else which can create harmony with the west tower, then hopefully the proposed design wont be approved by the government :).

A round tower next to a rectangular tower doesn't make much sense :bash:

Shanghai world financial center (rectangular) will be next to shanghai tower (round) will be next to each other in the future to make the perfect skyscraper zone in China.

^^Shanghai Tower and SWFC are both excellent skyscrapers. East Tower doesn't look that good next to the splendid West Tower.

Well, the design phase might mean that they will make some changes to the current design or be making another design which will complement the current west tower design. I'm also slightly dissapointed with the fact that its not a twin, but oh well, i now hope the east tower will look even better than the west.

432m / 103f = 4.19m per floor. (438m is to the top of the helipad)

4m is more than enough for an A grade office... :)

The shopping center currently occupying the plot of the East Tower has started demolition works. The mall occupies 3 plots in total: East Tower (488m~), J2-5 Plot (260m, 57 floors) and J2-2 Plot (no design, but expected to be around 300m).

Yes, this new proposal ( The one with the light tube inside and is modelled next to the west tower)is much better than the other two. I hope they keep it something conservative like this one, something similar to west tower yet different but still providing harmony between the two. Ok, I know I'm asking for a bit too much now, but we don't always get new CBDs being built, especially with such a great tower like the West tower in it.

I think this plot includes the surrounding small buildings as well. Its not just for the tower, I really do hope they choose either one of the new designs. Anything other than the box is a good choice. It will look a bit unbalanced, but i think i will get used to it. Can't wait for the other towers to finish as well.

The renders that Zorg showed are so Ugly in comparisons with the other proposal ( one with the stripes near the top). Hope they don't pick this the new one and when is there a definitive design???

If the East Tower is not constructed in the same height, scale and design as the West Tower, then they can't be twins. So it's either the same same design as the West Tower, or it cannot be built at all. A different design would mess up the Guangzhou skyline.

Final height will be 532.9m according to unsourced information posted by 東山大少. Details will be released in September.

wow, that will be about a 100m difference, more significant than the two towers in HK. I hope they choose a good design, one which fits in with the skyline. Can't wait until september then.

I think the second and third ones are the best, particularly the third one, which seems to be similar to the west tower, because of its structure. the mini west tower beside it is also quite cool.

Alright, so they are not twin. If it is so, I like the 4th or 5th picture. The one that has mini west tower wrapted design. they should stop calling it the east tower. It sounds like a twin bro of the west tower. :)

I'm not that big a fan of any of the proposals, if I had to choose tho, I would choose the 3rd proposal. Its the best looking even if it does not have the height of the others.

Yeah, ive just visited the P&T website, the buildings aren't too flash. I do hope that they take into consideration that there must be harmony between the two towers. Nothing boxy and nothing to window orientated (i.e seeing the window outlines very evidently), something as smooth as the west tower would be nice.

It actually look better than any other towers. If the East Tower is going to have a different design, then please change the name. Change the name of West Tower too. ^^ haha theres several projects where foundations have started and the design is still being picked, but lets hope East tower will release the design at the ceremony.

Im very excited about this one, but so far none of the proposals really pleased me. One of them is decent the others just sucked.

^^Thats true, but what i meant was the land clearing and hole digging part, its needed for all towers. The SWFC had its foundations laid before the financial crisis in 1997 and it still was able to change its design by first altering the height to 492m from 460m, if im not wrong, and then to change its structural design to withstand terrorist attacks after 911. But yes, i do agree that they should design things properly though

　　东塔外形上呈四方形
　　昨晚，广州市委常委、常务副市长苏泽群在和东塔投资方周大福集团副董事长、新世界中国地产主席郑家纯一起接受记者采访时表示，东塔的设计在外形上呈现四方形，与西塔的圆形正好遥相呼应。
　　整个建筑外观按不同功能定位分为三节，呈节节高升之势，作为主体部分的写字楼高度还低于西塔，从高度、建筑体量、建筑功能上，也能和西塔相协调。在广州长达12公里的中轴线上，东西双塔和电视塔将一同成为珠江两岸未来城市级的地标。
　　分办公楼、公寓、酒店三节
　　据悉，东塔的设计单位为国际级知名团队，包括曾参与上海环球金融大厦等国际知名地标的KPF公司。该公司设计师Forth Bagley向记者介绍，东塔将是一座复合功能的建筑，办公楼、酒店式公寓、五星级酒店分居不同的三节，站在地面上的人从下往上仰视一二节之间的连接处，其延长线恰好就会到达电视塔的顶端。
　　“这里以后将是世界上最高的酒店大堂。”指着设计模型中最高的一小节，Forth Bagley表示，作为一个公共空间，酒店大堂将设在东塔的顶端，届时市民从地下乘坐电梯到酒店大堂只需50秒到一分钟就可以俯视全城，电梯平均上升速度达到每秒约9米。
　　此外，东塔的设计还具有使用率高和绿色环保的特点，其外立面将采用玻璃幕墙加石材的复合建材，可以有效减少太阳光的反射。苏泽群表示，广州市政府已经基本认可了东塔的设计方案，但在今日开工进入基坑开挖阶段后，外立面的设计上还有可以继续优化的空间和时间。
　　去年9月12日，周大福集团成了东塔竞标场上唯一的举牌者，以2860元/平方米的底价将东塔项目收入囊中。在10.5亿元地价款之外，竞得人还需另外支付5亿元珠江新城地下空间开发建设费，实际上东塔项目成交总价已达15.5亿元，楼面土地成本达到4239元/平方米。
　　“东塔作为一个长期投资项目，未来将以收租为主。” 郑家纯昨日表示，东塔项目预计投资超过100亿元，周大福集团在资金上已做好充分准备。

Woo! That's a nifty looking tower, nothing at all like it's west conterpart. Looks crazy expensive, what are they doing over there.

A sigh of relief lol, quite a good design, hope we can see more renders soon. Although the design may not completely match the west tower, i hope they share simiilar cladding. I still find the west tower a bit more elegant though.

I don't know. I could never really see two widely spaced twins other than a little odd in the skyline. The new design of the east is really spectacular. It's now actually the right complement to the west one.

I quite like this design. I hadn't actually seen it before, but it is cool.

I am a little bit confused. There is a site next to the Hyatt (i think it`s Hyatt). But this site doesn`t look that big. On the opposite side of the street between those residential towers is a bigger site (to the east from the other mentioned site). Where will that tower be build? The entire area is under construction.

Now i will take my tripod, my favorite lenses, go to the Pearl river and take some night shots. :D
Guangzhou will have one of the best skylines in the world, better than Shenzhen and maybe better than Shanghai and i will proove it. ;)

I strongly disagree, I hated this design and in my opinion, the current one's a lot better and more pleasing to the eye. This particular one is just another 'meh' design and not particularly spectacular in height. I also agree that the twin towers would look boring and short now, so glad they changed and revised the design and height.
