Paris, 26 Dec. 2008 (MAP)- The French daily "La Croix" highlighted Friday the "large expansion" of air services between Morocco and Europe that benefit tourists and Moroccans residing abroad.

In 2007, low-cost airlines, which rely on the growing number of operated flights, stood for 91% of the 142 air-routes opened in Morocco, wrote the paper, noting that the kingdom registered the most massive air traffic growth (17%) worldwide.

Two years after the signature of the Open Sky Agreement between Morocco and the European Union (EU), 13 low cost companies began operating flights between Morocco and 18 European countries, said the paper.

The number of flights between Casablanca and Brussels doubled in 2006-2007 while London-Marrakech flights increased fivefold, benefiting 3 million passengers in 2007, said the newspaper.

The French daily recalled the main objective of the Open Sky Agreement that is to boost tourism and achieve the goal of 10 millions tourists by 2010 against an estimated 7,9 million tourists registered in 2008.

we are doing great, i hope that we can get the 10 million by 2010. I think that it is possible, especially when a lot of the project are finished by end 2009 and 2010.
