OK. I think, two pages is enough for this kind of exchange...We already expressed our side.

Bai Slerz, thanks for re-posting the photos. The photos are in the right thread. We are here to promote Cebu, not to please everybody.

Those who feel bored/annoyed with Cebu, they have the option to skip the pictures. No sweat.

There are still a lot who likes to see Cebu (registered forumers or not), so why care the minority?

yeah, my fault though...:yes: but everytime nalang I post my Cebu pics, there's a lot of reactions at nagkaka gulo... Inisipi ko lang din na pag i delete ko yung Cebu pics ko, maiiwasan ang gulo kaya nagawa ko yun... And besides kung gulo lang ang unang mababasa ng turista, for sure di na nya titignan ang pics at ibang saites nalang ang titignan nya... such a waste of time posting those pics here IMO...

Perhaps not only in the Visayas but in the whole country IMHO . Dumaguete has a certain kind of charm you cannot find in other major urban centers in the country.

that would be your personal opinion :) but I can respect that. But Dumaguete having its certain kind of charm I may also agree. Recently I went on vacation in Dumaguete with my balikbayan aunt and uncle who also hailed from Dumaguete but for decades lived abroad. there was this local whom my uncle casually encountered on another street while we were visitng a place. on the next city block they again met and they greeted each other and talked about some stuff. I was a bit surprised kasi it's been many years since his family was in Dumaguete and from what I noticed they talked as if they knew each other for a long time, not unlike one typically talks with a stranger, civil it may be, in any city. intrigued I asked him if he knew the guy, nope he replied, he was a stranger haha. Reminded me also of my cousin when he talked with another fellow Dumaguetenyo while on vacation we were strolling on a beach and they were casually discussing things, I thought he knew the guy by how close they conversed so I asked him kung kakilala niya, he replied dun lang sila nagkita :lol:. It's locals like these that makes strolling Dumaguete's clean, downtown area a pleasant and memorable experience :yes:

It's not surprising that the American founders of Silliman (founded 1901), upon scouting the whole country to choose for a place to put their school, were so impressed by the hospitality and gentleness of the locals that with no reservation they unanimously decided it would be Dumaguete, the rest is, well history but a good choice indeed :okay: :okay:

^^right... even Cebuanos go to Dumaguete coz of it's charm, different from others... Truly, we can be proud of...

But what we can't be proud of are the attitude of other people here who wants competition. If you think we Cebuanos will be hurt if you say that Dumaguete has a kind of charm you cannot find in other cities... well, we Cebuanos are just proud that Dumaguete is just within our reach that we can visit the beautiful city in less than 3 hours... Cebu is proud that we have such a wonderful neighboring city such as Dumaguete... :okay:

^^yeah... Specially their boulevard, I really like it. No wonder it is one of the top BPO cities in the south. Watch out for Dumaguete, now becoming a major investment destination :okay:

this is Claveria St. in downtown Davao. during its prime in the late 80's the street almost made it to the Guinness Book of World Records for being nominated with the most number of banks on a single street. its influence subsided a bit after the city was forced to convert the street into one-way due to increase in traffic.

any pics of Bacolod? i've never been to that town, but a co-worker (white canadian) who recently got back from a trip there to visit her daughter who works in call center in Bacolod, is giving me the impression that she just came back from paradise...proud bisaya moment for me :)

(although i'm ashamed to say that i've never been to Bacolod...can't even point it out in the map :()

would it be safe to say that the Fernan Bridge and SRP Tunnel are the most advance pieces of infrastructure in the country to date?

i miss the airport-bound ramp of Fernan Bridge...our car almost fell of the edge of that one, thanks to my grandpa's thrill-seeker-style of driving :lol:

that building by the ramps looks dated by the way, hope they can replace that with something flashy and glassy in a few years...same with that building close to the infamous(?) Mambaling fly-over :)

if you're lucky, you can see VM Duterte with his big bike strolling around downtown Davao (ingat lang kapag pagarpar :lol:), he's also the city's major tourist attraction ya' know :lol: :okay:

pero mailaw talaga ang people's park pag gabi para walang milagro gawin dyan, bawal kasi yung magdate with excessive public display of OA affection :lol: at may cctv monitor dyan. minsan may couple katabi ko nagpaka OA kaya ayun may gwardya biglang lumapit sinita sila :hahaha:

pero at least walang nagdating dyan na nakipagkutohan sa ulo nila, di tulad ng makikita palagi sa luneta (SHOCKING! :nuts: :eek2: :hilarious:hilarious)

Big malls, wide streets, the Philippine Eagle, Mt Apo and even the city size itself

...that would be one of my destinations soon :banana:

buti kung lelecturan lang, ngayon ay pinapag lilinis na ng streets. Just lately na huli din ang radio/TV anchor ng ABS CBN...:lol:
pwede ka naman di makulong sa bus, may fine na P50 kung ayaw mong ma lecturan. Nahuli na din ako :D pero pinili ko ang fine kaysa ma lecturan...:yes:
Pero ngayon parang tinaasan na yata ang fine kase masyadong mababa kung i compara mo sa ibang bansa na aabot sa P15K ang fine...

70 to 80% of NCR and Greater Manila area's population are migrants coming from the different provinces all over the country. If we blame Manila for everything, are we also blaming a part of ourselves too in turn?

Most of people kasi from other provinces think na may green pasture sila pag-apak nila ng Manila, however, ang opportunity lang na iyon ay para sa mga hardworking na mga tao - sa mga masisipag, mga nakapagtapos at sa mga skilled. ang iba naman kasi nag-eexpect na may mapapasukang trabaho doon, pero hindi rin nila alam ang hirap ng buhay sa maynila.

Been to Zamboanga and IMO, it is one of the few cities around the country where I could feel the "city ambiance", the others being Manila, Cebu, Davao and Iloilo. :)

I pity those turtles...I have been adopting these reptiles from children who poke and play with them from rivers and creeks because they are becoming endangered. These are Philippine (Leyte) Freshwater Turtles (ba-o in Hiligaynon). abundant all over the country but are fast becoming endangered. :ohno:

I have currently 11 of these juvenile turtles at home, rescued from naughty kids who try to poke them and break there carapace (shells) ^^

And by the way, please wash your hands thoroughly when handling these nice reptiles because they harbor Shigella and may cause Shigellosis

yup may pagka-unique ang ibang binebenta dyan, may tattoo artist pa and some are avant-garde items, may nakilala ako yung binenta niya dyan kwintas na gawa sa bungo ng unggoy :uh: :D

interesting, marami palang ba-o sa area mo, and good to know you rescued them.

when I was a kid I also had a pet turtle but I guess turtles are happier when set on the wild as I noticed it races to chase its way out, slow poke it may be when taken out of its pond cage; during those days it was my wish to see a turtle in the wild but to no avail kasi what we excitedly hoped we saw a turtle turned out to be a floating bukong :lol:

I agree. Most downtowns in the Philippines are actually really bad considering you would think it's the best part of a city. I think some repainting in the very old buildings would do downtown areas some wonder.

IMO, nowadays, the claim "cleanest city" is just a matter of mental stereotype. I've been to different cities and I saw with my own eyes na generally clean naman. Pero hindi rin maiiwasan na me mga portion talaga ng city na mahirap i-maintain ang mga kalat like public market. :)

have you visited agdao public market or bangkerohan in davao?

^^ ugh, meron pa palang spaghetti wires na ganyan katindi sa Davao? nasa Sta. Ana Ave. yata yan pero di ko namalayan, most of the lines were rewired kasi while some are tolerable, but that is a glaring eyesore. Davao Light and other utility companies should look into it.

by Davao standards, I think one of the worse was that portion in Claveria, with about 3 vacant buildings lined together, maybe the properties were sequestered by the bank or something otherwise it has the potential to be developed that its owners had not done anything yet.

@ Davao pics, kahit parang slum area ng Davao yung pinost ni dark from CdO, intriguing malinis pa rin :lol:, and one may also notice motorcycle drivers really following traffic rules by wearing helmet. Lalo na may cctv camera's na in most streets so magtataka ka na lang upon next registration may penalty na, with matching pics of caught-in-the-act pa :lol:

The other taxi he posted, though not as grand as dark's CdO taxis (pero binawasan daw units duon due to limited passenger demand, that's why it's weird why he had to post it :sly:) at least hindi naubusan ng pasahero even if hundreds of brand new taxis were added in Davao so kung nagmadali ka di ka talaga makapagpili halos puno kasi lahat. It's a down-to-earth Kia Avila where one notices lots of it in Davao, pero sa Maynila wala talaga akong makita. M. Manilans may find it interesting to know those surplus Avila cars are very cost effective by as low as P110K per unit yet it is efficient and cheaper in spare parts kaya sulit na kotse yan :okay: pero wala yatang natira para sa Maynila pinakyaw na yata ng Davao ang mga units haha.

gamayng facelift lang man siguro ang kelangan. nakabaktas man ko diha. nice cya pang heritage. ang mga bldg hilam-usan lang gamay fights na. ayuson ang sidewalk. butangan tanum ang palibot. then maintain cleanliness.

We always say that our downtown is already dead coz it's very dirty pero sabi ni @Tigs, sobra naman kayo... ok na ok pa naman daw ang Downtown Cebu, lively and colorful and organized... Pero unsaon ta man, we see our downtown still dirty...lol

Ooops mali ang pagkasabi ko, I meant nag land bank ang SM sa Tacloban..that time konti pa lang ang SM..I think it was an article about SM City Iloilo being under u/c tapos na mention din sa article yung landbank ng SM sa tacloban :) But that was years ago pa, bigla ko lang naalala while looking at the downtown pics :D
