Rica Hotel Havutsikten

Rica's new hotel in Bodø is scheduled to start construction in spring 2011. The hotel will have 220 rooms and a conference hall with 600 seats.

Architect's description (in Norwegian):
Nybygget omfatter en hotelldel i vest med tilsammen 17 etasjer, og en konferansedel i øst på tre etasjer. I hotelldelen vil det bli plass til ca. 212
rom av varierende størrelse. Mellom hotelldelen og konferansedelen er det laget en innglasset gjennomgang over to etasjer. For å gi plass til
romprogrammet vil bygget krage ut over 2.et. Dette vil også bidra til å redusere eventuelle fallvinder rundt bygget.

Hovedsalen i konferansedelen ligger i 3.et. Denne har en innvendig høyde på ca. 6,5m, med plass til ca. 650-700 mennesker. Salen vil kunne
delse i inntil fire mindre saler etter behov. I vest i 3.et. er det en større lobby samt flere mindre møterom.Under konferansedelen ligger det
restaurant-/frokostsal i 1. og 2.etasje. Konferansesal og restaurantlokaler er tenkt gitt store vinduer med panoramautsikt mot nord.
Hotellresepsjonen er lagt i 1.et. i vest. Fra denne fører brede trapper opp til konferanserommene i 3.et.

Tårnet i vest er delt i en tett del, og en del med glassfasade for å gjøre bygget slankere. Heiser og hovedtrapp er lagt i glassdelen mot øst, slik
at det blir utsikt fra disse utover havna. I toppen av hotellet er det tenkt lagt noen større suiter. Tårnet er avsluttet med skråtak for å skape
en markant og lett avslutning mot himmelen. Tårnets hjørner er skåret av for å gi et slankere utrykk. Tårnet er båret av skrå utvendige
betongsøyler i 1. og 2.et.

The height will be 61 metres. Read it in the proposal documents submitted to the city. I can't remember exactly where I found them right now.

even smaller norwegian cities come up with nice highrise projects. this is really good news. mbravo to bodo(i dont have norwegian characters )

^^ Bodø have been a very active highrise city, with more proposals than any other city with less than 100 000ppl. Not many have been approved though, actually, this one will be the first!

Great skyline for that size of the city. Hope it will grow more in the future. :cheers:

Looks quite okay, good thing though that such highrises are planned for a town of that size (hey, it's as big as Borlänge! ;)). I'll add the height to the thread title.

I prefer the second Scandic image there!

Unfortunatly this one is delayed atleast one year, and the plans are to be cut down from 14000-15000 squaremeters to around 12000 squaremeters:

Well as long as they keep the height the # of sqms shouldn't matter all that much, right? :)

Are there any news on this project, and if so, will they stick to the original height?

Moved two years ahead actually. Sais construction start in 2011.

We have a major development, Rica has made a deal with the developpers and construction will start in the spring of 2011 and opening during 2013.

Seeing Lofoten from the top sounds a bit optimistic though. About 90 km (like Oslo-Sandefjord)

If I can see to Kongsberg from my house in Ås (~70 km), I suppose 90 km isn't much in the more dramatic Nordland landscape.


Nice with the hotel, even though I was more fond of some of the earlier designs.

I don't know. Can one see Lofoten from the Radisson Skybar? It certainly is possible to see if one gets high enough:

About the new design, i love it! If it turns out as good as i think (and they ditch the box sticking out on top) i see it as a candidate for 2nd best highrise in Norway :)

The design has taken ten steps towards been a good design as well, which is the best news! :)

Really? The Narvik hotel is that much taller, but still one floor lower than the Bodø hotel.
