!Hi everyone. I just wanted to show you guys this mostly unknown colombian city. Popayan, with its 300,653 inh. is Colombia's 18th city. I hope you like it as much as I do.

That's the first time I see pictures of Popayán and I have to admit that I got really impressed... The city is beautiful, the architecture is really nice and it seems very well-kept...

popayan is probably the best conserved city in Colombia, even more than cartagena... the architecture is beautifully conserved, nice climate and very nice roads... :master:

I understand what you are trying to say. I won't argue with you any further. But I should give you the heads up that what you are saying could be considered insulting and arrogant.

The arrogant part: They don't need to check with North America to nickname their cities & nor should they care what we think. North Americans don't check with South America before nicknaming our cities.

The insulting part: Colombia is much more than a production ground for the Northern American cocaine habit. It is insulting when that is the first connection you make.

Colombians are already pretty complexed about the bad image their country has, no need to add up to it.

Many cities are nicknamed the white city around the world and the fact that your countrymen enjoy colombian cocaine does not mean they should drop the nickname now in 2009...

Currently none town or city of Colombia is controlled by the guerrillas.

This is because the current policies taken against these armed groups, which makes that they now are resigned to precarious mobile camps. His power is now so weak that they try to avoid the direct fighting, and are resigned to terrorize the inhabitants of small towns in southern Colombia.

Popayan town is really one of the greatest towns in Colombia no doubt, and yes more great than Cartagena, which its beautiful...
