Which division are they playing in?

National League Serie D. Teams from the North of Brazil rarely manage to play with the elite in Southeast, so they usually play in lower divisions. With World Cup and a revolution of football structure in that region hopefully may help these teams evolve to play with us. Although the local State Championships are quite popular, it's like a Brazilian championship North division.

yeah, but they don't give a damn for hierarchy in the national league, they have never been worried about it, they have a huge culture of local state championships. And the main division of Brazilian Championship has always been - since its begining a challenge involving Rio-Sao Paulo teams, then in a lower degree comes the teams from other regions. Reasons for that is that Amazonas is too far away from here and it's considered almost like another country. Hopefully with WC 2014, this idea may change.

Vivaldao in Manaus-Amazon and Verdao in Cuiaba-Pantanal will be the 2 green host city in FIFA2014!
In Brazil 8 of 12 cities are near or on the coast: Fortaleza, Natal, "Recife", Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo(near), Curitiba(near) and Porto Alegre(near)
Cuiaba, Manaus are the 2 green host city.
Brasilia and Belo Horizonte are 2 big cities far from coast.
In my opinion the Footbal World Cup in Brazil was well divided.

Demolition of old Vivaldao Stadium has started a few months ago.

A "green" concept will be applied to the demolition of the old Vivaldao Stadium. All materials such as seats, railings, and reflectors are being carefully removed and will be reused elsewhere. The concrete from the stands will be recycled.

Hey, someone should change it to under construction.

Hoje teve a terceira visita ao canteiro de obras da Arena da Amazonia eu fui lá pra fazer umas fotos do andamento das obras.





O secretário de Esportes do Amazonas Júlio César que sempre está presente nas visitas explicou que o período chuvoso tem atrapalhado as obras mas as mesmas não estão atrasadas, ontem choveu o dia inteiro em Manaus e o resultado de tanta chuva foi visto hoje lá nas obras, bem no meio de onde será o gramado as águas da chuvas criaram um ''lago'' como vocês verão nas fotos, e isso dificulta e muito o trabalho, principalmente das máquinas pesadas. Mas mês que vem o inverno rigoso amazonico chega ao fim e com isso as obras serão adiantadas.

O projeto do estádio procurou uma solução altamente eficiente e funcional, preenchendo todos os requisitos da FIFA e ainda provendo uma imagem muito característica que pudesse refletir a identidade única de Manaus e da Região Amazônica. Inspirado na fascinante diversidade e formas da Floresta Amazônica, o projeto do estádio foi desenvolvido de acordo com os conceitos mais avançados em arquitetura sustentável.O uso de tecnologias inovativas e conceitos como o reuso de águas, resfriamento geotérmico, uso de bioetanol e ventilação natural irão auxiliar tanto na redução dos consumos energéticos quanto no nível das emissões.

I believe it's too early for that, there is no match proposed, probably not until the end of the year. Even the Confederation cup arenas close to finish does not have a match confirmed yet(i.e: Arena Pernambuco, Est. Nacional).

Love the Facade/Roof of this Magnificent Stadium. The Interior layout is perfect IMO as well. The 46,000 seats is perfect for the city of Manaus.

Arena da Amazonia: stadium bowl finished.

Works in Manaus World Cup 2014 Stadium will focus on finishing the inner areas and the roof/façade constuction, which is set to begin within next two weeks.

Assembly of the last row of the upper tier of the Arena da Amazonia was completed on Monday (13/05). With this phase completed, upper and lower tiers are ready and the work will focus on the finishing of the stadium and in the construction and the facade, which is expected to start in two weeks.

The Head of the Public Projects Management Bureau for the World Cup (UGP-COPA), Miguel Capobiango Neto, pointed out that according to the schedule, the end of the assembly of the stands was anticipated in two days. "With this step ended, we will concentrate on the more sensitive and complex process of the work, that's the roof/façade system," he said.

The contractor company also will intensify the work of completion and finishing of the accesses to the stands, bathrooms, concreting and waterproofing of the all floors, and the main access ramps to the podium by the eastern sector (Constantino Nery Avenue). Currently, the work is at 60% of its conclusion and delivery is set for December this year.

Soon, the two cranes, which now occupy the center of the field, will begin to be dismantled. The equipments are about 60 feet tall and were used throughout the lifting work of precast to the slabs and the bowl of thestadium. For the roof, the contractor company (Andrade Gutierrez S.A.) will use two crowler cranes with a capacity of 750 tonnes and that will operate from by the outside of the stadium.

Roof

Carlos Martins, chairman of portuguese company Martifer Metallic Construction, which is producing the roof/façade structure on Europe, also accompanied the end on the bowl's work. The CEO is in Manaus to overview the arrival of the pieces brought from Portugal and that must be transported later this week from the city's port to the construction site. "We are embarking on Portugal more pieces at early June and the third and last batch in July. The manufacture of all structures ends in July", said Martins.

The only host city in the Brazil's North Region will welcome four games during the tournament, all them for the groups stage. The matches will be valid for groups A, D, E and G. The stadium will have a capacity of 44,000 all-seater expectators. The budget is at BRL 515 million (~USD 277 million), being BRL 375 million (~USD 186 million) from federal funding.
