I don't think so, can't remember anything else from the European building set that I've seen in real life. Swiss Re would be awesome though, but as you say, probably too hard to make.
queetz December 21st, 2003, 12:55 AM I was hoping that they would make One Canada Square as a landmark that you can use in Simcity 4, especially a much more refined version of the ridiculously fat one in Simcity 3000.

I don't understand what do you want. I found this picture on skyscrapers.com. Why you say that it your picture[SIZE=4]? And I never say that it mine, I never went at Frankfurt. Explain it to me.

excuse me.:)
mlm December 21st, 2003, 06:30 PM Thank you.

the Waco building closely resembles Captiol Center, better known as Southtrust, in Columbia.
here's the pics, and the definite "proof."
on the Waco, there's a palm tree. South Carolina is the "Palmetto State;" the palm is on the state's flag, and is the state tree. the state flag is the one below the American.
a drive-by I did of the base of the tower:
see the similarities, especially in the base?
high rise apartments also resembles a lot of buildings from the period up to the late 1920s.
ones that it resembles are a few in Birmingham, Alabama and another in Knoxvillle, TN, although it's a commercial building.

Your picture is not very good, with this picture, I have difficulty to comparing them. I found others pictures in this page (http://www.emporis.info/en/wm/bu/?id=116156). But it's not very the same.:)
Jasonhouse January 1st, 2004, 11:47 PM I don't think that Southtrust inspired Waco. The massing isn't the same, the hieght is different, and the atrium thing at the base is quite a bit different. It does look similar, but these late 70's boxes are so common, that it's virtually impossible to know which one they copied without just asking.
AG January 2nd, 2004, 12:26 AM To me, Waco Co. looks more like it's modelled off Citicorp Center in NYC, just with a different base and without the sloping top.

No problem, I don't mind at all, but I don't think it was base on the building of that photo, the top are totally different. :?

1. massing is extremely close
2. the number of stories is the same; 25. the height doesn't appeart to be too much different.
3. quite a bit different? as in Waco's is curved, and Southtrust's is angled? oooh, what a big difference.
4. Southtrust is a mid/late 80s box, at least in construction.
To me, Waco Co. looks more like it's modelled off Citicorp Center in NYC, just with a different base and without the sloping top.
and the proportions are nowhere near the same. there's no comparison except for the cladding. just look at the photos, and the building.
Southtrust looks a lot like the Kroger building in Cincinnati, so you could also say Waco's modeled off of Kroger, as is the Citicorp's cladding, because Kroger's from the 1950s. but the cladding is different looking up close between Kroger and Southtrust.
but like I said, there's more similarities between Waco and Southtrust than the others, and the palm tree supports my theory more.

In SimCity 4 there is another building that looks like the Eurotheurm (or something like this) in Frankfurt, but the version in SC4 is much more massy.

i'm joshing you a bit, but...
showing BAT versions, or landmarks, of real buildings was not the purpose of this thread...maybe you could never tell that, or see what else had been going on in this thread, before you decided to show the BATmarks in your city, which wasn't the point, as they're obviously reality buildings (unless you spotted variable similarities, like BAT buildings that aren't real buildings but are a lot like real buildings, like the others shown in this thread.

I'm going to make this short -
While I agree with you about the broader concept of copyright, I would just like to comment that I think you are overreacting in a larger sense.
IMO you've taken the time, effort, and skill to produce that picture(s). And I can understand your desire for credit, or if the photo that's in question was used for a commercial project.
But this is a website forum. It's like complaining about eatting cheap food when you're sitting in a McDonald's. Ask for the cred - but don't make it you're bloody life.
