Jiufen is a getaway destination northeast of Taipei. Nestled in the hillsides, it is a refreshing retreat, with good scenery and interesting town scenes.

Many of these lowrises dot the hillsides overlooking the ocean.

The main town consists of several streets lined with shops on both sides, and crowds in the middle. The extended roofs and store signs then block the sunlight out.

Smelly tofu in Taiwan tastes a little different than the ones in Hong Kong. Despite the smell, they taste quite good.
