nazrey December 22nd, 2003, 02:54 AM A view of Putrajaya -- The new Administrative Centre of the Federal Government of Malaysia taking the capital city away from Kuala Lumpur, leaving Kuala Lumpur as the country's financial and commercial capital. Moving the national administrative machinery from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya is in line with the Government's policy to provide a more balanced development away from Kuala Lumpur. It is a decision motivated by life in Kuala Lumpur and ensures continued growth in the Klang Valley.

Although Kancil is the cheapest car in Malaysia but it is not exactly a cheap car.
Here's some car prices just for comparison:
Perodua Kelisa (Auto) = RM36,000
Perodua Kenari EZ (Auto) = RM41,000
Perodua Kancil 850 EZi (Auto) = RM34,000
Proton Iswara Aeroback 1.3S (M) = RM37,000
Proton Iswara Sedan 1.3 (M) = RM40,000
You could see how ripped off Kancil is when compared to the other 'bigger' models :D

Couldn't agree with u more, kevin... These electrical pylons are too tall (more than 10-storeys!) and are very ugly...
But what to do, these are vital components of our country... Without the tall towers, how is electricity gonna be carried from the power stations to our homes?

I believe land owners over there like Telekom and AMFinance couldn't agree more! That's why they took initiative to at least paint the pylons mah..like AMFinance red and yellow..while telekom blue and white...While Tenaga National HQ in PJ is safely away from those...them punya pasal hehehe

Well.....these high-tension wires could be placed underground like in many cities. I guess Tenaga is slowly 'converting em' to the underground ones but since it is an expensive thing to do and that our city planners do not take such aesthetics into concern.......I guess we would have to wait lah :D

Pablo May 11th, 2004, 09:29 AM WOW Kuching has a not bad skyline...Hey kuching's roads r quite broad ;)
Xfactor May 11th, 2004, 12:10 PM The second building (white) from the left in the picture is Kuching Hilton International Hotel. It's situated along the stretch of the waterfront, a landscaped esplanade along Sarawak River. The scenery there is very beautiful. :)

errrr......what do you mean actually?? u mean when the buildings were built??
the older ones like Sunrise tower and one persiaran gurney were built in the 80's(not sure) the newer, taller ones were built in the 90's. a few more are still comming up now, like Gurney Palace and 11 Gurney;)

Wow, this pix is old... When was it taken? 2002?
The big billboard on the Amcorp Suites has long been taken down... The building now has a large AmGroup logo on its top and also looks much whiter than it is (new coat of paint)... Behind Armada Hotel, a new building was recently completed... This is the Menara Axis which looks (almost) exactly like the Millennium Tower in Damansara Heights...
Otherwise, much of PJ State remains pretty much the same...

Menara Axis now had that stupid Fujifilm signboard.......so ugly! :puke:
That is because Fujifilm's HQ moved from Crystal Plaza next door to Menara Axis ;)

Yalor... The worst thing is that when the sign is switched on at night, the brightness blocks out the floodlights at the base of the dome... Luckily the sign is only on two sides of the building...
Speaking of Fujifilm, now that they are based at Axis, what will they do with the big billboard on top of Crystal Plaza?
Btw, do u think that the Amcorp Suites is too big a building for PJ? Makes Hotel Armada look like a pencil-thin tower block...

Haven't seen it but I am sure it is darn ugly :dizzy: ....yea the sign on on 2 sides but those 2 sides are the prominent sides
How could MPPJ allow such ugly advertising? I still like DBKL's aesthetic sense when comes to billboard and signage placements on buildings ;)
I dunno what would happen to the old signboard which I think is butt ugly as well :D (I've never liked Fujifilm's branding). Amcorp suites building is kinda big but initially it is designated to be used as a hotel.........dunno lah......hope the top they make it as some observation gallery ....hehehe ;)

Whoa... Thank goodness!
New PJ updates:
1. Axis has a new and ugly Fujifilm signage!
2. The back portion (facing the Federal Highway) of Amcorp Suites is being painted yellow in color... Lets hope it does not become a huge yellow banana!
3. Other buildings being painted: the Bayu Puteri Condo in Tropicana and Palm Springs Damansara condo...
4. Renovations on the EPF Building (next to the Jalan Gasing flyover) are almost completed... Looks like a totally new building and definitely much better than the old facade!
5. Millennium Place condo and mall in Sec. 14 (adjacent to Menara Jaya condo) has reached 8 floors!
6. The new 22-storey 3-block condo in Kelana Jaya (close to Kelana Center Point) has been topped-up... I forgot the name of that project, though...
7. Assunta Hospital's 8-storey extention has topped-up as well, and the walls are being bricked-up on each floor...

Szehoong, the Axis Tower is the only building in the Valley(!) that has its lights on till the next morning - 6.30am to be exact!
Yeah, have to agree with u... Have u seen the FujiFilm billboard atop Merlin Tower in JB? That's the ugliest billboard i have seen in recent times!
I think the rotunda on the roof of Amcorp Suites is a helipad... But during actual construction of the building, i was hoping that would be a revolving restaurant!

Oh, that's something... I thought Public Bank turns its lights off around 3am or somewhere around that time... KL Tower also used to be lighted up the whole night long...
Yeah, its a pity... I thought the rotunda would be PJ's first revolving (and rooftop!) restaurant... But as the building went up, i noticed that the thing was too small to be a restaurant... Besides, the elevator core stops at the highest floor and does not continue from there... Finally realized that it was a helipad...

I used to think KL Tower and Public Bank switches off lights very late but my recent 'wee hours' experience in da city tells me that both buildings are still litted up after 3am........my panos in the other thread shows ;)
haha.....you're still using the word rotunda for that building :D ......actually rotunda is the circular tall enclosed space within a dome ;) .....for example: Ex USA President Ronal Reagan was laid-in-state within the rotunda of the US Capitol ;) ......sorry bout that Clie......just a lil architecture term lesson here...hehehe :)
Yea....you're probably right about the Amcorp Tower....it is a waste of space up there for not having a revolving restaurant actually. Isn't it more economically viable to have a restaurant / observation deck up there than a helipad :? :D

Hehehe... Thanks for enlightening me, sze!
What u said has good meaning, as PeeJay should have such a restaurant to be another tourist attraction... PJ has a nice skyline view, both at daytime and night... Make it similar to KL and Penang (the top-floor restaurants at KL Tower and Komtar respectively)... The only top-floor one in PJ is at the Hilton, but that's a private lounge for the Executive floor...
Btw, heard that the top floor (some more penthouse!) of MPPJ Tower is to be converted into a restaurant... Somehow no more news about that plan? What a waste...
