Ouargla (Arabic: ورقلة) is a city of Algeria and the capital of the Wilaya of Ouargla.

The city of Ouargla, 128 meters, is located 190 km east of Ghardaia, 160 km southwest of Touggourt, 388 km south of Biskra. The inhabitants of Ksar (old city), called Ouargla, strains are mainly Berbers. They speak teggargrent, a Berber language very similar to that of Mozabites (Sedrata tribe who lived about twenty kilometers from Ouargla before founding Ghardaïa).

A real capital of the desert, surrounded by five small oasis BeniThour, Sidi Khouiled, Chott, Rouissat, Said Otba and N'goussa. It is estimated that about one million the number of palm trees. The oases are irrigated from artesian wells with an average depth of 60 meters, there are more than 800 in the region.


Ouargla lies in the south-east of Algeria, 800km from the capital Algiers, the most famous is' Gharbouz 'in ouargli' Foundou ', and the new Khadra region.
