rather use the pe one than the ct staduim it looks identical to durbs from thoses pictures with one looking like an update with a arch

If you put Soccer City between the two I think it makes it clear that they aren't.

i think there needs to be more of a link between the stadiums in the banner. a common line that runs through all of them for example. all seems a bit amateur to me. coming from a branding house i reckon we leave it to the experts

There are no experts (unless you're referring to a forum member who is an expert). Forum guys submit a banner and request to put it up on a certain day.

If you would like to submit a banner, please make sure it complies with the following:

use an image that has an urban theme
image size 719 x 123 pixels, .JPG and 72 dpi
no added text, flags, symbols or other markings on the banner
provide the source (name and url) of the original image
tell us what we are seeing on the image
if you are a forum member and took the image yourself, please provide your user name

In case you want your city up there for a special occasion, please provide the banner as soon as you can. Keep in mind the occasion is a reason why your city is up there, not the main theme for the banner. We try to get as many banners up there, but as there are only 365 days in a year, choices will be based on quality and the number of times a city has already been up there. Please check the banner archive first to see if your city has been selected recently. Also, if you are more concearned about just having your city up there, than you are providing us a high quality banner, than please don't send it in.

Well all our proffesional photoshoppers can have a go, lol, I think the most we could fit into 1 banner was 4 stadiums with 3 being the norm but if you guys can fit in more it would be cool :)

I'll give this a bash sometime soon....

We're not trying to steal money from them.

For a SSC banner? Don't think so. I think that its fine if the logo isn't associated with another brand, the dimensions and style elements of the logo are maintained, and you're not using it for commercial gain. There isn't another way show the tournament graphically so I don't think there would be any objections. Also, there were plenty Olympic banners on SSC last year, logo's included.

Fair enough. It's just that I've seen more than one news article where FIFA enforce their copyrights and I was interested to know the breadth that the public had to use the official logo. From what I understand, it's fine to use it if it accompanies editorial content on the page where it is displayed and it isn't a fixed image across the website. In the case of an SSC banner, it would be. I don't think that FIFA would make a claim against a banner on a website such as this as it's obviously a non-profit situation and is advertising their event.

Started to work on one, using the Night time renders of the finished product.. but I just need to get the transition between the images right.... Looks a bit amateurish atm, and I don't have the patience on a "day off" atm....

Has anyone seen any animated banners recently?.. Cos I know the PNG format supports animation...

I've seen banners before using UEFA, Olympic logo's etc... so doubt there will be an issue & I doubt FIFA will visit our site for that 1 day to see it :D

Yeah I must admit that while its a nice banner, it misses out on the most iconic bit of Cape Town...
