All I know is the foundation is there - maybe they had some drainage problems (which occurs pretty often when building near the shore).

:D Marina Palace is not near the port, its behind the large (new) building next to the Mcdonalds. Ive made some pictures of the working-site in july, but unfortunately just still the foundation:

It is not going good with Morocco allot of projects are on hold...

It was told because of corruption....

An example an foreign investor comes to Morocco... and then Moroccan investors are seeking with a partnership with the foreign investor.... and they got a budget then but the Moroccan investor (the partner) steals money and put it in their own pocket to go on vacations to Marbella or to send there childeren to study abroad.... and the foreign investor then thinks, no no i don't need this shit. and then 9 of the 10 times goes to an other country with less corruption en liable people...

Money makes people blind, and they forget there love and patriotisme for the country.....

non seulement la corruption...le BIG PROBLEME c'est le financement de ces projets grandiose,c'est a cause de la baisse des ventes et qu'on voit des projets non finis ,parce que les promoteur travaillent avec les fonds des acheteurs,les avances,les investissements...pas de vente=pas d'avancement de travaux,sauf les projets qui travaillent en auto-financement

It has nothing to do with corruption. Marina Palace was a project of the Spanish company Proclub. And a lot of Spanish property companies were effected by the property crisis in Spain, check Fadesa. I think that is one of the reason why this project is been delayed . The good news is that this project is not been cancelled but taken over by another company.

It seems that they have been working, because 2 years ago they were only building the foundation. You can clearly see the shape of the building.
The new developer Xpresa said that they will restart around june, maybe it is allready under construction we don't know..

It is the same design. I don't know if the project is on. I contacted them a couple months ago and they say they would start in june 2011 and recently I send them an email for info about the project. But I haven't heard anything yet.

Proclub was the developer, but all their projects are taken over by Xpresa..

I am afraid that Wolf Man is right, he said that he had heard that the king wants a park on that area and not towers ( 25 floors ). The billboards of the Marina Palace have been removed.
I don't hope that Tingis Towers will be cancelled too.

Wolf Man goes often to Tanger.
And he has a appartement near that project.

Just to let you know (dont know how true it is, but it has come from a reliable source) that the Marina Palace may not be built, and could be replaced by the King as a sort of Park for the people!!!

Yes I can confirm this, I have just got back from Tangier, and I was informed that their was problems with this development and the Bank had got involved.

I am only saying what I have been told, I hope it is not true because Marina Palace would be spectacular, the Bahia building that is to be built next to it has also gone very quiet!!

It wouldnt make sense to make it a park anyway, the location sucks and the plot is WAY too expensive. Besides, theres a small park right in front of it, and a new park near the coast. Maybe Marina Palace won't be built, but some other property developer will buy the plot.

Espmar another developer wanted to build a tower of 25 floors next to the Marina Palace, they were waiting on approval, but they didn't get it and the project has been cancelled..
If Marina Palace doesn't build the building it means that they have another plan for that plot.

Uhm no. There are tons of reasons of why they couldnt get the approval. Apparently, as Wolfman stated - the DEVELOPER had major financial problems and the BANK got involved. Second, the land is not in hands by the king or the government, but by private property owners. This means there is no way there is going to be a "park" unless the developer wants that. The king already has his toy park right next to the road towards Ksar Sghir, so it sure wont be his idea. The paranoia is deep in this one.

Two things can now happen.

1. They are going to replace the old billboards of Proclub with that of Xpresa, because the old billboards of Marina Palace were of Proclub and the project is taken over by Xpresa.

2. The project is going to be cancelled.

@ mister79, Ik hoop op het eerste maar ik ga er gewoon van uit dat het project geannuleerd is. (zie bijvoorbeeld de toren die mogelijk op dit locatie gebouwd gaat worden) ze hebben dus nog niet besloten wat ze met deze kavel gaan doen.

There is some new information recently published about it ..
It says it is one of the future big projects in the region and the only building of 25 floors in Tanger that got permission to be build..
I think they wait for an investor..

Souvent dans ce genres de projets, tu as plusieurs investisseurs privés dont l'un fait parfois defaut pour raison x ou y, il suffit de ca pour faire capoter tout le bouclage financement prevu au depart, et donc faire capoter le projet, car il faut trouver de nouveaux partenaires...

Regarde le projet du Bouregreg a Rabat, les Emiratis avaient promis des miliards, walou ils n'ont pas sorti le moindre euro, Saidia pareil, Fadesa a fait faillite, si Addoha n'avait pas repris le projet sous la pression de l'Etat, pas 1 seul hotel ne serait sorti de terres, d'ailleurs sur les 9 hotels prevu au depart, seul 3 existent il me semble. ^^
