skyperu34 March 29th, 2009, 06:40 AM Very elegant ! The last renders show a better design in the top part of the taller tower, looks more interesting...
jhalsey April 14th, 2009, 05:24 PM Rather ordinary looking.
Erebus555 April 15th, 2009, 02:42 AM This is a nice sleek tower. It is very elegant, as skyperu says. If the cladding is top quality, this will look beautiful.
India101 April 19th, 2009, 08:36 AM Approval has been given for a new supertall skyscraper for Mumbai, India. With the ornithological name of Skylark Tower it will stand at a height of 300 metres when completed and is the work of Delhi based architects Studio U and A.
Opting for a classic glass-clad look, the tower is almost squarish in form, although to save it from uniformly dull boxiness a sloping, widening incline features on one corner of the tower that continues upwards to a flat peak devoid of any sort of spire or antennae.
Going for the modern touch, the tower will be constructed from steel and be fully glazed. The tower is planned to be multi-use but as the design is still being tweaked its unsure as to how the tower will be divided but there will be a substantial amount of office accommodation included in the 200,000 square metre scheme along with other standard amenities.
It's hoped by the backers of the tower Sahana Builders that their plans will be suitably ambitious to make the scheme Mumbai's tallest habitable tower.
The approval of this tower brings the total of super tall skyscrapers currently planned or under construction in Mumbai to six. This might not sound all that much on an international scale, but viewed in the context of the economic crisis that is seeing the likes of Dubai having to suspend projects and tighten their belts, it actually shows Mumbai is booming organically while other places are seeing their growth revealed as speculative and having to go into decline, at least temporarily.
Although still being designed, the tower is expected to be completed as early as 2011, with the possibility of two twin towers soon joining the landmark tower.

Hi Indiansunite,
Just got my ass taken by the client. Please remove the new images from imageshack. I though as the old renders had been put up here the work was in the public domain. It seems it is not. Please do this immediately otherwise I will be in serious trouble.
Thanks.. and sorry for creating this confusion. I should have checked with clients before posting those images.

India101 November 20th, 2010, 08:27 AM Sahana handed this project over to Oberoi. They say this will be launched soon.
b3ta May 2nd, 2011, 03:38 PM x-post from the India forums... The height has now been released: 383 meters for the taller residential building and 160 meters for the shorter commercial one.
The project is being executed through a Joint Venture between M/s Skylark Build and M/s Shree Vrunda Enterprises, promoted by Mr. Sudhakar Shetty, being collectively referred to as “Sahana” and Oberoi Constructions Pvt. Ltd. The JV is referred to as ‘Oasis Realty’. Oberoi Constructions Pvt. Ltd. is a leading real estate developer with a focus on premium developments in Mumbai.
The project has been posted before and is called "Skylark Towers, Mumbai". It is a mixture of a residential and commercial tower. The construction site is bang next to Thappar House, Worli.
Siteprep has already begun, please follow the renders and images below for the construction activity. Minute details have been made public about the exact height of both the residential and commercial towers, however a recent presentation with the link http://www.brickworkratings.com/press-pdf/Skylark-Builldcon-NCD_Issue_550Cr-Rationale.pdf has mentioned the residential building to be 83 storeys high. The commercial building height is approx around 160m previously posted by India101, with no floor count. The pdf is an update from Nov 2010.

And IU posted these models in the India Forum:
KPF Architects (http://www.kpf.com/default.asp) are working on this one. An intern who worked there in 2010 has the following schematics in his portfolio (http://arcserv2.uwaterloo.ca/portfolio/zcfish/portfolio.pdf). Gives a good idea of the basic design instore for this project. The smaller tower (office+hotel) is 239 meters tall with 50 floors while the taller one (residential) is 372 meters tall with 82 floors.

There's nothing more important than cleaning up the Indian cities, we are already late on this.
And BTW India is not spending the money for building these skyscrapers, its the private developers who are building this and they don't really give a shit about doing community service.

ZZ-II November 29th, 2012, 01:15 AM Does anyone know how wide the taller tower will be?
dunefreezer November 29th, 2012, 04:04 AM I tried measuring it using Google Earth. It looks to be about 100 m wide, damn I didn't know it was that wide.
jaadu November 30th, 2012, 03:05 AM The base would always be very wide as there are many other construction there other than the tower itself. A good way to measure would be measuring the core and then using some kind of guess work at this stage.
ZZ-II November 30th, 2012, 07:14 AM I tried measuring it using Google Earth. It looks to be about 100 m wide, damn I didn't know it was that wide.
100m is unbelieveable wide
droneriot November 30th, 2012, 10:40 AM It doesn't look nearly 100m wide in the render. For comparison, Palais Royal is 75m wide and it looks thicker than Oasis' main tower. Are you sure you haven't measured the width of the entire complex?
deekshith November 30th, 2012, 11:28 AM It is indeed nearly 100m in width.... Oberoi is using every bit of the site for this project.
Shorter one is 50m wide and the entire complex is 225m long.

dunefreezer November 30th, 2012, 06:15 PM Yeah, may be that is why it doesn't look that tall in the render for a 370 metre building.

Same with Palais Royale :). But 100m is really impressive, probably the widest tower on earth when completed! ( i don't count the base of BL which may be even wider, but just a few floors )

Oberoi Realty is looking for a partner brand to run the hotel, and is presently in talks with Ritz Carlton and St Regis.
NEW DELHI: Mumbai will have to wait a while longer for its ultra-luxury Bulgari hotel, as talks between the Italian hotel brand and Oberoi Realty have fallen through.
Oberoi Realty, which is looking for a partner to run a hotel in Mumbai's Worli area, is now in talks with Ritz Carlton and St Regis. It had earlier negotiated with Waldorf Astoria and Raffles, after its talks with original suitor Mandarin Oriental failed last year.
Vikas Oberoi, managing director of Oberoi Realty said the company has signed MoUs and is under a confidentiality agreement but did not comment further on talks with Ritz Carlton and St Regis.
...
Starwood already has an existing relationship with Oberoi Realty - the company's first hotel in Mumbai's Goregaon area is a Westin (a Starwood brand), under a 20-year management contract. The Oberoi Realty property in Worli is a 225-room five-star luxury hotel, part of a larger 3.1 million sq ft mixed-use development that will also have 200 residences which might also be managed by the operator the company finalises for the hotel. The under-construction hotel is expected to be ready by mid-2015.
News related to the commercial tower. As per this, Oberoi is still trying to rope in a hotel operator.
