Last time I was in Kelowna the bridge was about two thirds complete. deasine February 8th, 2009, 10:54 PM I wonder if the other bridge has been taken down yet... guess we need a Kelowna forumer to update us with that. Daguy February 8th, 2009, 11:15 PM I wonder if the other bridge has been taken down yet... guess we need a Kelowna forumer to update us with that. The construction cam from the bridge's homepage is still up and running: http://bctrans.oxblue.com/1/ If you zoom in you can still see some of the bridge structure on the very left hand side, but much of it has been removed so far. DKaz February 9th, 2009, 07:13 PM It's William R. Bennett Bridge. Looks great though. Rhino February 10th, 2009, 04:03 AM why was the old bridge removed? Couldnt it be used for anything such as future needs? deasine February 10th, 2009, 04:27 AM Aging infrastructure = high cost to maintain I'm guessing. Plumber73 February 10th, 2009, 04:56 AM Kelowna's Port Mann... Yellow Fever February 10th, 2009, 05:07 AM ^^ :) Nice bridge. clooless February 10th, 2009, 08:26 PM Here is a pano I created from pictures I took last spring, just after construction was completed: http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/3861/pano3to0.th.jpg (http://img25.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pano3to0.jpg) Sorry, I didn't have time to crop. It's a very utilitarian looking bridge, but better than what we had. deasine February 11th, 2009, 03:22 AM great pano there. Well at least the bridge functions properly... though I don't really understand the odd lane thing. clooless February 11th, 2009, 04:05 AM I suspect the lane differential was a cost saving measure, or perhaps traffic volumes didn't justify building a third lane eastbound. Maybe both. Just guesses, mind you. *shrug* |
