Any news on this project? There are thousands of English football fans who need to arrange flights to go to the game. If it is in Almaty then it is easy. If it is in Asta, then not so easy.

Думаю прилетит меньше сотни, любителей экстрима и желающих пробить золотой сезон со сборной (золотой сезон на слэнге фанатов - посещение ВСЕХ игр сезона, в т.ч. всех выездных, где бы они не были).

You seriously underestimate English fans! There are groups coming via Germany, Latvia and Turkey, as well as direct charter flights. Count us when you see us. And make sure there is plenty of beer in Almaty!

Visa advice for England's trip to Kazakhstan

With England’s storming form in qualifying for South Africa 2010 it’s likely that more fans than expected will be making the trip across Europe and into Asia for the visit to Kazakhstan on Saturday, June 6th, 2009.

Kazakhstan is probably best known in England for being the birthplace of Sacha Baron Cohen’s fictional creation Borat, but we’ll avoid the cheap jokes and leave that to others. No doubt there’ll be an upsurge in sales of those disturbing green man-bikinis though.

However, England fans would be advised to leave those alone and instead spend their time getting in that all important visa application. We always advise supporters to apply as early as possible in order to avoid frustration, as the Kazakhstan authorities may struggle to process thousands of late applications.

The exact venue for the game is still to be confirmed, most of the nation's home games take place in Almaty although there is a possibility the game could go ahead in the capital, Astana.

Flights already booked (Easyjet to Istanbul, Air Astana to Almaty). Less than US$400. Bargain!

I understand the hotels are quite expensive though........

The cheapest decent(bearable for foreigners) option in the center("Golden Quadrat") would set you off $80-100 a night, but if you decide to rent an apartment located not in the Golden Quadrat, somewhere below Tole-Bi above Raimbek (near Zangar Supermarket), it would probably run for 45-65 USD per night.

Sorry this thread is going off subject a little. Many England football fans are still guessing at Astana or Almaty for the game. As many have already booked trips, I feel internal flights might get booked up quickly!

Almaty is for the most part a very safe place to be. To tell you the truth, I was more worried about my safety while I was walking on the streets of LA than walking around downtown Almaty in the middle of the night. Use your common sense and avoid anything you don’t feel comfortable with. if you're traveling alone, I'd recommend that you stay in hotel/hostel, which is what I always do when abroad, and you'll meet lots of foreigners there and it won't be so lonely that way. At night do not veer off well lit streets and always keep some kind of identification on you(a passport/visa) - police are prone to stopping foreigners and checking their documentation on a whim. Also stay away from the drunks and noisy gatherings on the streets as much as you can.

With the new Astana stadium now on hold, the match will most likely be held at the Central Stadium in Almaty.

Дорогие друзья!!! Наконец-то случилось!!! Сегодня состоится матч, которого мы так долго ждали - Казахстан - Англия. Чтож пожелаем нашим ребятам удачи и не опозорить нас, показать достойную игру... К большому сожалению я не буду присутствовать на стадионе - но зато из-за всей души буду болеть за наших по ТВ... Господа кто пойдет на матч!:!

Да, само обидное что многие будут болеть ( в прямом смысле слова) англичанами.

Да проиграли - но играли все пацаны, молодые, необстреленные, играли отважно - особенно первые 25 минут - но допустили массу просто тупых ошибок, как результат 0-4, но все равно было приятно смотреть, хоть даже проиграли - Шторк правильно сделал, что пригласил в сборную молодежь, они еще потренеруются, станут подопытней...

Согласен Аким, хотелось бы обратить внимание на Остапенко, Кукеева, Логвиненко и Ибраева - за ними будущее.

А мне показалось, что в первые 25 минут Англичане просто еще раскачивались, поэтому казалось, что мы держали оборону бодро. Конечно, далеко сборной КЗ до Англии, поэтому проиграть им с небольшим отрывом все же довольно пристижно. ;)
