Paris, Feb. 7, 2009 (MAP) - Morocco attracted 80% of Arab investments in 2008, writes the Paris-based monthly "Afrique Magazine" in its latest issue.

"At the top of attractive countries, there is Morocco, which drew 80% of arab capitals," says the publication, noting that investors from Gulf countries have organized themselves in Rabat in a forum, which meets regularly.

Recalling "Moroccan Infrastructure Fund (MIF), an investment fund dedicated to infrastructure with a total commitment of almost $ 100 million, the monthly says that "last year, the Maghreb was the region that has attracted most Arab investment."

Investments from the Gulf account for half of foreign direct investments (FDI) in the Maghreb, the paper notes. In the aftermath of the financial crisis, Gulf companies have noticed that their losses were significantly lower in the Maghreb than in the USA, the monthly says.

These companies consider more and more North Africa as a bridge towards a much more promising region, namely the African continent, writes the magazine, quoting an economist.
