Astrakhan is a major city in southern European Russia and the administrative center of Astrakhan Oblast. The city lies on the Volga River, close to where it discharges into the Caspian Sea. Population: 502,800 (2004 est.);
That region is also known for very good fishing :)

a rarity, usually you don't get to see many photos of it

are there any native Astrakhan people left? i remember reading there used to be an Astrakhan khanate
