Why would you even purpose something like that if you didn't have anything to back it up?

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Which_country_has_the_largest_railway_network

These people say we have the most track in the world (224,000 km) but the question asks which one has the most being built? Wikipedia says

As a result of the increased investment, the country's railway network is expected to grow from 78000 km at the end of 2007 to 100000 km by the end of 2010 and ultimately 120000 km by 2020

Beijing (560 km), Shanghai (500+ km) are vying it out to have the worlds most extensive metro systems by 2010 or 2012. They will in turn be usurped by the whopping 2000km version Guangzhou-Shenzhen-HK are building by 2020. All the major cities in China are building metros like crazy, and that's just the subway systems. The high speed rail and inter city links also being built are enormous. It would be great if we could get a realistic tally on how much is going on.

^^^^ yea lol
why can't we get in on the HSR fun?.... and I mean everyone on the Eastern Hemisphere but none on the Western Hemisphere? It's a really bad joke.... I hope soon alot of HSRs start getting built since that's what I want to work in when I grow up... In my mind, I see the potential growth, but in reality I don't see any actual growth... :)
