Its not as hot as in eilat. Its reasonably hot and there are air conditioners in all the buildings.

lol, we left Israel when i was 6 and im 19 now so its been a while, even though ive been back twice for holidays, its hard for me to maintain my hebrew because my parents dont speak hebrew at home, they dont speak hebrew at all, we still speak french at home, we are originally from Toulouse in France and moved to Israel when i was 2 ..... anyway some ulpan and Israeli T.V. should do me good :)

Those pics of the Aizrieli Towers close up reminds me a lot of the Twin Towers back here in NYC hence I refered to Tel Aviv as a mini-Manhattan or mini-NYC since it was errected.

Traffic in Tel-Aviv:
There was a contest just a few days ago in Tel-Aviv. Its purpose was to show how bad the traffic is. The different competitors had an option to use bicycle, car, public transport or to go by foot.
The bicycle came first leading by far. The others came at the same time, so as a result environmental activists started to give away flyers that encourage people to travel by foot. Makes sense..

HaYarkon St. is at the back of all the hotels along the beach, so there's nothing very interesting there, except a few restaurants maybe, but parallel to it on one side is the promenade and the beach and on the other is Ben Yehuda St. which has a lot of tourist services and some nice places to eat .
Besides, Tel-Aviv center is quite small, everything is at a max 15-20 minutes walking distance .

For the azrieli towers,i know that David Azrieli has just raised 500 Millions shekels on the tel aviv stock exchange and this ammount should serve for the construction of the tower.He said also that the marketing of the office space would begin by 3 months (because they sell space and they look for tenants before builduing)

No, it wasn't resumed yet, these 2 unfinished floors are what they built before putting the construction on hold .

is it just me or is the planning of tel aviv a little wierd, from looking at a bunch of these photos it really seems like a bunch of these buildings are real spread out, in ways it reminds me of LA, and thats not good

yeah planning of Tel Aviv is chaotic!

its not chaotic. its just that there is no real CBD, the CBD is spread out in over
5 locations, from near Yaffo (Textile center), Rothschild boulevard area,
The southern ayalon banks, the ayalon facing ramat-gan - kirya, and
in in 3-4 smaller locations where highrises go up.
Basically there will be a forest of highrises with international style buildings
inbetween them and residential areas will still be left in patches.

I'm guessing but I think part of the reason for spread-out TA CBD is not so much haphazard planning but 'defensive' design - similar to many Israeli residential buildings in the 60's and 70's having been built in particular patterns in relation to each other and with tiny windows (even to this day, some bldgs on the periphery (eg Gilo) are built this way). The residential building placement was intended to make an arab attack / advance (eg: a tank attack) more difficult, the window size intended to minimise a chance of an arab sniper shooting into homes. Similarly, spread-out CBD makes for a much more difficult target from the air (or a missile attack, as happened in 1st Gulf war) and means the city is less likely to be 'paralysed' if there IS an attack (G-d fobid)...

I think Israel has HEAPS to teach the world in terms of preventing / minimising the impact of strategic terrorism, unfortunately such lessons seem timely around the world right now.

JuBoy I can assure you this is not the case in tel aviv neither Jerusalem.
The decisions were mostly made on a very short-sighted planning agenda
asking mainly "where's cheap land where I can build my office tower?". In
the textile center in south tel aviv, on the sea-shore, there was just a lot of land
which could be developed at once, and close to the main routes into tel aviv from the south. These desicions were also impacted by the fact the Kirya, army HQ, is situated where a CBD would have naturally formed - you can see this by the amount of office towers encircling it from all sides: the south kirya business center going up, the azrieli center, govt. tower, ibm tower (king shaul boulevard). So basically there is somewhat of a CBD (around the Kirya) BUT because of no zoning regulations (well almost none) developers can search for cheaper lots or rezone residential lots for offices pretty easily, and this is the case for tel aviv only - most other cities are much more cautious (perhaps thats why TLV is growing so fast.. theres demand and theres a will
to supply it in planning committees.

And did you know that the greatest Poland's war time poet , Home Army soldier who was killed during Warsaw Uprising, our hero Krzysztof Kamil Baczynski, had Jewish mother?
Forever Israel, forever Poland, forever our beautiful world!

Azrieli is also polish jew:) all him family died in Holocaust and he emmigrated to Israel alone when was only 12 years old!

Of course it is sad that the world of Polish Jews dissapeared in the Holocaust, but dont forget the millions of Polish Jews that left Poland before the war (and some that survived and left after) and continue the Polish Jewish culture throughout the world in places like Israel, the USA, Australia and many other countries (my family included! :) :) ).

I think that we must learn more about ourselves, Jews and Poles. Especially
youngsters must be closer. Above all what happened in XX century, Poland and Israel are okey now, we worked hard in last years for that and it's time to
rebuild polish - jewish relations. For better future :cheers:

poland is very important. it will be a much more important country in the EU in the future, maybe even more than other countries around it.
I think Warsaw will be soon a very influential financial center like Bonn
or Brussels etc. for the EU. So its good our two countries have good relations and share a lot of cultural background. Poland was also a big victim of countries around it so we have that in common also.
There are a lot of Israelis learning Polish now to get a EU polish passport,
now that it is part of it, because anyone with grandparents from there
can get one so I think there will be at least tens of thousands of Israelis
with dual Polish nationality so its no wonder Israelis like doing a lot of business there, especially in building.

makkabi, the two gindi towers are residential. there
is huge demand for residential towers and too much empty office towers
anyway. But in ramat gan there is also demand for offices because its close
to the train (hillcrest tower, ayalon tower adding floors)
