Tel-Aviv was recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as it has largest array of Bauhaus architecture anywhere in the world. You gotta look at it in context- Bauhaus is a type of modernism- modernism is an architectural style that started at the turn of the century with the construction of the Eifel Tower- it is all about rejecting the decoration and social caste system of the old, and embracing the new idea of functionality and simplicity.

I know alot about this as I did a case study on it in Visual Art :) I am very excited about visiting Tel-Aviv next year for this reason. (Among many other reasons like the SKYSCRAPERS eispecially city gate, I am in love with that tower)

:) , I used to live near the independence park and believe me, there's plenty of activity there, you should have looked on the north of the park, away from the Hilton, especially in the bushes . :laugh:

Anyway, I personally think it's disturbing, not to mention dangerous, to find casual sex partners in the park behind the bushes . if you're interested in meeting hot Israeli guys or girls there are plenty of pubs and clubs .

oh, ok, i think i see. Its a place to cruise... I didnt know where to go at the time, I was very innocent and excited by the whole thing (being 15) and someone telling me there was a 'gay' park was good enough for me to check it out :) People were in the habit of not allowing me into bars and clubs at the time as i was very young looking. In fact I still get asked for ID today!! Apparantely south Tel Aviv is the place to go now, in the old industrial area. Is that true?

South Tel-Aviv is one of my favorite parts of the city, it's the richest most colorful area . It's true the buildings are not in the best shape, but these are beautiful historical buildings, they should be renovated, not destroyed . I would rather have boring north Tel-Aviv destroyed first .

As for the green, this city was designed as a "gardens city", you can't see all the green behind the tall buildings, but a street level, there are many green little gardens on every corner and hundreds of thousands of trees planted along the boulevards and crumbed in every available spot .
Not to mention "Hayarkon" park which is huge, and there's also an enormous environmental project being planed for the south - The "Ayalon Park (http://www.sviva.gov.il/Enviroment/bin/en.jsp?enPage=e_BlankPage&enDisplay=view&enDispWhat=Object&enDispWho=News^l2257&enZone=e_news)" - 3 times the size of the NY central park .

Zohar south Tel Aviv is an undistinguishable part of Tel Aviv even in the human body there are parts youd rather remove or nasty parts but theyre all there for a reason, same goes for Tel Aviv, its specialty comes mainly for its contrasts and uniqueness

Hey, guys, I want to make you some questions about Tel Aviv:
1) I know that the city was founded as a suburb of Jaffa (Or Yaffo... I don't know the actual name) and has now become bigger and more important than it but, is there a dual dowtown? I mean, an "old" downtown -the Jaffa one- and a "new" one, belonging to Tel Aviv? How was the urban development of Tel Aviv since it was created?
2) Ramat Gan it's a suburb? or is it actually part of Tel Aviv?
3) The nicer beaches are in the city or a little bit out of it?

1)Yaffo in hebrew and Jaffa in english:) yes all u wrote is correct and now Jaffa is Tel Aviv quarter!
in 1905-1909 many jews came to Jaffa port from East Europe,and they created Tel Aviv(springhill) in 1910!
2)Ramat Gan is Tel Avivi suburb!but it's look like part of Tel Aviv only 20 metres between this cities:))
3)The nicer beaches in Center of Tel Aviv:this beaches are best: Hof Frishman,Hof Lahat,Hof Yerushalaim,Hof Charles Clour,Hof Hilton(gay beach),Hof Palmahim,Hof Tel Baruh(many prostitutes and transexuals there)
Hof Frishman,Hof Yerushalaim ,Hof Lahat,Hof Charles Clour and Hof Hilton in center of Tel Aviv in Herbert Samuel st.near to famous Tel Avivi streets like Allenbi,Senkin,Dizengoff

There isn't a distinctive "Down town" to Tel-Aviv since the city lost any form of the initial city planning throughout the years .
The main shopping and business area in the part called "City heart", but the northern part, southern part, Ramat-Gan and Jaffa all have their own "down town" areas . There's also the area around Azrieli towers and the shopping mall which is another important city center .
