Is that picture in the exact same spot as the painting?
Anyways, $487,000 for that painting is just :nuts: Anything sir Winston Churchill touched went up three zeros in value.

I don't know that anyone can say for certain, after all 70 or more years have passed, but when I saw the painting I immediately thought, "I know where that was painted," so when I was next there I tried to capture the scene from the same spot.

You can see the Todra river curves to the right in both images.

I didn't have the photo of the painting with me when I took my shot, so it was all from memory. There was a bank behind me which would have raised me and might have given a better juxtaposition. I'll take another shot when I next visit—hopefully the mountains will be more visible which might fix it for certain.
