1 thing is for sure: Hong Kong is one of the most amazing cities in the world. After New York, this is the city I want to visit the most. It's really a city of many lights and that makes it so beautiful. When I look to some photo' it looks more like a painting to me.

Apart from the rainy/cloudy days when I was there, it was a wonderful trip :colgate: I got a Nikkor 10.5mm fish-eye lens for my birthday present! Yippeee! At HK3950, it is considered a very good price (but no warranty cos it's a grey set). Food was nice! (Will post some food pics too) Not too salty for my taste. But, I think the dim sum I had was so-so. Maybe, went to the wrong one. :( I am a big dim sum fan. btw, bean sprouts taste sweet in HK.

I was pleasantly surprised that most are able to speak to me in either Mandarin or English. So happy cos I can't speak/understand Cantonese. Have to ask my friend to translate sometimes. Being a non-smoker, I was glad most places that we went were smoke free! Cool! :colgate:

The connection/service between airport and the hotel which I stayed was good. :) No problem and was fast.

Wanted to go BOC's viewing gallery... but, I was so blur. Went to BIFC instead and asked the security (quite good looking :colgate: ), who was puzzled when I asked where is the observation deck... :P You are working in BIFC, right? hehe... :)

The passengers? I think they can see I am a tourist. Also, being a girl is so forgiveable, right? ;) Well, no one protested when I took the pictures. btw, I didn't take it sneakily... was holding a DSLR so they know I was taking pictures.

In conclusion, I think HK is a tourist-friendly place. More for the local food and up-market kind of shopping.

I notice a lot of Hong Kong forumers in this board have been to Spain, especially Barcelona, and all of us who have been there have nothing but absolute praise for the city's urban atmosphere. Interestingly, none of us actually flew in from Hong Kong. We all seem to fly into Barcelona from the UK and from continental Europe instead.

Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from Spain to Hong Kong at this time, so it's a bit more inconvenient to connect via another country.

the food looks so gooood! you really know the way to take pictures of foooooood. sorry to hear about the quality of the dim sums though.. it's probably because recently many resturants have lowered the price of dim sums so the quality gets worse as well! try the hotels next time. most of them do really fine proper hk dim sums and they're not expensive either.. (and again, in hk, it's nothing really that big of a deal to go to hotel restaurants..!)

admittedly it's hard to go to hk from spain... and it'll be costly either. probably needa wait till emirates starting new routes serving barcelona and dubai.. then it'll be much more convenient and cheaper either. (don't see there's such a demand for CX to start non-stop flights between barcelona and hk)

i've been to spain twice.. yes. as what hkskyline has said, once was from the uk (ryanair) and the other was from austria. (lauda air)

I was using Nikon D70 + 18-70mm kit lens / 10.5mm fisheye lens. All were handheld during the day. Only the last Pano was on tripod + remote release. hehe... without tripod, night pictures will be blur due to long exposure... it was funny to see one western guy placing his camera on his Chinese girlfriend's head to take a night picture of the same scene... I doubt it will help much... :lol:

That part is Whampoa Garden built in the 90s. It is a self-support and self-serve community that has everything such as restaurants, shopping malls, cinemas, supermarkets, fresh food market, department stores and many other shops, parks, elementary as well as high schools. If Hunghom needs to be redeveloped, I'm afraid it will be the area where your red arrow is...:D

Even though you said the clouds are not matched properly, I still couldn't find the noticeable parts, good job!

Look carefully at the clouds, you will see semi vertical lines between clouds of different shades of grey.

I used to live on the 10th floor.

I've now moved to a different building and have hence lost that beautiful harbour view. I'm now on the 15th floor...

I'll have pics of my new 'view from my window' soon - they're not harbour pics, but they're still interesting I reckon.

Thanks - did you just blur the 'ends' of each photo and then adjust their brightness/contrasts/other such bollox or is it something slighty more complicated?

- normally you can just adjust contrast, lightness, colour etc - sometimes you have to use the paintbrush tool - often for the sky, also selecting small bits with 'feather' at about 5 and then nudging them over glaring joins...for web images these simple things are fine.

You may have noticed the middle pic doesn't align with the other two - I arsed up on that! When I took it thought it was alright but appears there was a slight tilt on it.

Think the first and last are fairly well aligned though...that was my first panorama :d

I just got back after ~20 hours of flying. Here is just a taste of some of the shots that I took (1000+ photos). Needless to say, on some days the smog situation was just terrific (little to no smog at all). But it was pretty hot and I got bitten by quite a few mosquitoes. I will probably make a photo series eventually. Let me know what you think.

Yes, signs are bilingual. Some of the neon ones may not be though.

Hiking from Fanling to Tai Po on Feb 24, 2007

Though it was with my colleagues, I hope SSC could arrange a hiking tour in the future.

We started from Fanling KCR station, then took a taxi to the starting point, Hok Tau Reservoir. The entire route was part of the Wilson Trail. No, they are not the same. Actually, I just stood at one point but taking pics of different angles! Just like your two photos, on the same Star Ferry but taking Hung Hom versus TST.

The Central Plaza is shiny because the sun is directly right behind me.
It reflects all the lights towords me.
Other buildings a darker because they are not facing me.

Yes, we should hike around when im in hk next time, maybe do the hills going to ngong ping !

Going uphill with 3000+ stairs...... going downhill from Ngong Ping to Tung Chung is a lot better.
