Wow that is a very interresting design.I like it.Pity only a capacity of 33,000.
Why always 33,000 is the standard.It should be minimum 40,000

Cause you need +30k to host EURO :D

I think people are a bit hard on Kadir Has Stadium sometimes! That was the project that started off all of these, and set a new standard for Turkish stadium design, construction and specification. And from the outisde it looks stunning! :cheers:

they don't deserve because they are so happy to be in the middle of list.they have no extra effort about it.you can't see their stadium full of people.it's about necessity.

The New Konya Stadium is part of a complex including a brand new multi-sports hall, an athletic stadium, a velodrome and different multi sports areas. The stadium and the Sports Park are located on a 40 hectare spot, 8 km to the north of city centre, and planned by the authorities as a sports and recreation area surrounded by a new residential area which is still under construction.

The design of the new stadium is a tribute to the Konya region, its history, its traditions and its locals; an allegory of the dance of the Dervishes and also Konya’s reputation as a “Cycling City.” While the undulation of the round shaped stands remind of the dance of Whirling Dervishes, the roof is designed as a “Spoke Wheel.” The combination of these elements creates a unique aura, especially at night, which will symbolise the city of Konya.

Furthermore, the multifunctional stadium will have fitness and physiotherapy centres available and various shops as well. The VIP club will be used also as a restaurant and a rentable event location. Finally, the design of the north and south stands allows for an extension with exclusive lounge areas and sky gardens.

As a part of the accommodation project in Konya, the Sports Park will contain several apartment buildings that will be used after UEFA EURO 2016 as dormitories and residential houses.

The existing tramline will be extended to the new Sports Park and will allow access from the stadium into the city centre within 15 minutes. Additional bus connections will also guarantee quick transfers when necessary.

The old clubs have got xx Spor Kulübü (Sports Club)

The clubs which were founded in the 1960s (merger of smaller clubs) are "Province name + spor and Kulübü"

I think it's a reference to the use of the word 'Sporting' rather than the club itself.

But that Spor in many Turkish clubs is Turkish, I believe, like there are many clubs in Portugal called Desportivo de Something. While Sporting's name came from the English word Sporting (a common choise in the early 20th Century), like Sporting Gijón, or other clubs named Racing.

What's the reason now?

I think there are problems with the construction firm (GINTAS).

It is really weired.
Seha construction won the bid, but GINTAS went to court and won it.
Therefore the whole project lost 8 months

(With the same way GINTAS won the bid for the interior works at Bursa's new stadium)


But now: Insolvency of the GINTAS company and the state controls it.

So i would guess everything is working slower now. Money for the workers etc
