How old are these commies? They look rather neglected and in need of maintenance. Do they use polystyrene (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Styropian.JPG) to renovate the facades of commieblocks in Serbia? In Poland it is widely used and literally everywhere.

I would like to know how all these renovations differ. Last week I traveled to Kosice (Slovakia) again and I was very happy to see that more and more commies are getting fresh paint and this polysterene on the fascade. But thats it???

Here in Germany whenever a commie gets renovated, all the inhabitants have to move out as long as construction workers doing their job. Maybe I will be able to give an actual example from Dresden. But what is the great difference between renovations? I cant imagine when all these elevetaors in Slovakia are getting changed, neither all this supplement for water or sewage running in these blocks. And one thing what I really dislike is the uneven coloring of commies in Slovakia. When I travlled through Poland this was a much nicer sight. I am not sure if this is caused that a housing association doesnt exist anymore or in some way their rights are now minor in comparison to all the other private owners.

Maybe someone else can share experience on this renovation topic. Because renovation is the thing that commies keeps alive! We will never witness again the construction of so many commie-neighborhoods as in the past happend.
