i told u b4 mah...don't resize a bit only, example 300x400 to 250x400 or 200x400..if not yr pix will be berkotak-kotak;)

i think the location is OK. the 2 blocks of gurney park, the regency and the stupid uncompleted hotel near Gurney Plaza have thier view little bit blocked by each other, but i love that part very much. i think the 11 gurney drive, gurney hotel, 1persiaraan gurney, evergreen laurel + those in Northam road will be much more cool

Design Philosophy

This development concerns core values about dwelling and lifestyles, issues that can normally only be addressed in the most exclusive bungalow designs, almost never in a condominium development. We begin with the Golden Mile of Gurney Drive, Millionaire's Row, home to number of existing high and condominiums, apartments and historical mansions along a boulevard facing the tide and sea breeze, lined by established rows of casuarinas and hardwoods.

The development sits on a rectangular site, facing the Straits: the elegant columns of 60 spacious units gathered in a group by the sea edge as lantern towers for the address. On the opposite end past a garden terrace pool are two exclusive villas with the hills of Penang forming the background.

Sixty plus two. Sixty two units in all. Magic numbers if one were to dream of low density exclusivity, open spaces and a privileged population.

Emm...i think the most development area in Penang island is Relau. Although they did not built any megamall or megaproject at that area, many high-rises mushroming there. Most of the citizen in Penang migrate to Relau when they abolish the rent control act in downtown :wallbash:

Gurney Drive is the millionaire roll... so it is considered well-developed... and these few years... a lot of highrises standing up along this stretch of area... until Northam Road... so.. i think since we are trying hard to preserve the pre-war houses around Komtar area... Pulau Tikus or Gurney should be our new CBD in future...

Hunza plans RM700mil project in Gurney Drive

HUNZA Properties Bhd plans to launch, in the first quarter of 2006, a RM700mil high-end mixed development in Gurney Drive, the renowned sea-front promenade on the island.

Group executive chairman Datuk Khor Teng Tong told reporters after the company AGM yesterday the project, located on a 10.21-acre site fronting both Gurney Drive and Kelawei Road, would comprise a shopping complex, small-home offices, and serviced and studio apartments.

“The 10.21-acre site was purchased recently from The Visitor in the Federation of Malaya of the Christian Brothers' Schools for a cash consideration of RM97mil,” he said, adding that the Gurney Drive project was scheduled for completion in 2008.

There will be 1.8mil sq ft of saleable space, of which 300,000 sq ft will be allocated for small-home offices and serviced apartments, and 200,000 sq ft for studio apartments.

The home offices will have built-up of 600 and 700 sq ft, the studio apartments built-up of 500 sq ft, and serviced apartments built-up of 1,000 sq ft.

Between 600,000 and 700,000 sq ft will be allocated for the shopping complex, Khor said, adding that the group's headquarters would also be located on the 10.21-acre site.

He said the group targeted to generate RM2.54bil in revenue from its six projects, of which three were on-going – Bandar Putra Bertam in Kepala Batas, Sungai Lalang in Sungai Petani, and Tanjung Bungah in Penang.

The projects in Kepala Batas and Sungai Petani comprise landed residential properties; and that in Tanjung Bungah, luxurious condominiums, villas, and bungalows.

The other three projects all to be launched in the first quarter of 2006 are a mixed residential gated community in Seputeh in Kuala Lumpur targeted at the higher-income market, a luxurious super-condominium scheme at Tanjung Bungah in Penang, and the Gurney Drive project.

Meanwhile, Yayasan Bumiputra Pulau Pinang Bhd director Syed Mohd Aidid Syed Murtaza said the foundation recently acquired a 32% stake in Hunza Consolidated Bhd because it needed a listed vehicle.

“We will unveil our business plans for Hunza Consolidated soon,” he said, adding that Yayasan also owned a 9% stake in Hunza Properties.

Coming to Penang on january 2005?

Gurney Drive...maybe u can taste the penang food there..there will be many stalls selling penang food just beside Gurney Plaza..If u would like to taste those food in the classy place, i suggest u go to Northam Cafe..It is just like a normal kopitiam, but look more classy. These two places only sell food in the evening...Northam cafe is not at Gurney Drive..it is near to Gurney Drive..but u still can walk there..it will take u about 10 mins to reach there..it is in front of MBF tower. So, u can sambil walk there sambil look at the buildings in Penang lo..

There r many kiosk in gurney plaza, like Dome, Secret Recepy, Star buck, Coffe bean and etc. If u feel u have nothing to do..u can always shopping inside the Gurney Plaza..At night, there will be many crowd walking and sitting along the beach.

Mostly, ppl went to Gurney Drive is to makan and bersiar-siar saje...u'll never afraid on can't find anything to eat in Gurney Drive..cafes are everywhere;)

BTW, the crane between Gurney Hotel (Baq's choc bar) and one persiaran gurney is 11 Gurney Drive's ;)

yeah!! the largest gaps in Gurney Drive are the one between The Regency and Silverton (not in the pic above), as well as between gurney palace and evergreen Laurel hotel (in the pic)

hopefully the 700million project by Hunza will fill up those gaps:D
