I remember this building as the "PTT" of the 80s... At that time, Malayan Banking tower was the only true skyscraper above 50-storeys until the Empire Tower (60-levels) was opened in 1994...

Until today, Maybank remains as one of my fav buildings in KL!

yea.....been to the Numismatic Museum many times before - I am a coin collector & I always took bus from the Maybank bus stop.......so if got time I would just stroll inside :D .

Directions to the museum: Upon walking to the entrance (next to Starbucks) at the ground level (note: not the banking hall entrance)......just go straight and the museum is on the right. There is also an art gallery inside with non-permanant displays. ;)

Apart from that I've also been to Level 21 (Telekom Malaysia) to collect my 'smartphone' which I won thru GoldQuest organised by the now-defunct Metrovision. ;)

As a coin collector (not the serious type lah), I've also been to the Bank Negara Numismatic Museum! :D

errr......I think Zahirnya hasn't been there before therefore he's askin bout it........I am the one whom had been there many times.

The BNM museum is really nice and much larger than Maybank's. What year you went there? I was there in 1993! :D

Sorry. I cannot answer that one cause I myself never been inside. You know la...arrive there then going straight up to my own office. Once my job finish, then going straight back to home.

Maybank is still one of the most imposing buildings around, even though it has lost the title of Malaysia's tallest high-rise long ago (when the KL Tower was topped-up in 1995)...

This building is designed in such a way that it has two different views... One is this one, which shows the rocket-shaped top...

That one is an abandoned condominium project. Not related to Plaza Rakyat. Been like that for ages already. ;)

Darren, that pix of Maybank Tower shows the massiveness of the building!

I was at the place a few weeks back when i wanted to withdraw some cash (could not find an MBB branch around that area, so went to the Tower lah) and was taking a look around the lobby area when i noticed the sheer size of the building...

I mean, for a building with only 50-something floors, there are 35 elevators divided into five zones! The PTT has 72 elevators, but for both towers... Unfortunately, Maybank should do something about the atmosphere of that lobby... Looks really dated!

I havent been in bfor and been wondering how it looks like.But from outside i can see that the lobby is a little old lookin.Who knowsmaybe they may even be the main tenant to Plaza Rakyat?:P

Oh....believe me.....Maybank's lobby is so so so so so much better than Komtar's. It just looks old but definitely not as small and less maintained than Komtar's. ;)
