Jaru123 April 8th, 2009, 05:18 PM The Port of Spain International Waterfront Centre is an construction project aimed at revitalizing and transforming the waterfront of the capital-city Port of Spain located in Trinidad and Tobago. The project is a part of the overall Vision 2020, a government policy attempting to take Trinidad and Tobago to developed country status by 2020.
The master plan involves constructing two 26-story office towers, a 22-story Hyatt Regency Hotel, and the Caribbean region’s largest conference centre. The 19-story Renaissance towers are also included in the waterfront project. It is expected to be completed in 2008.
The location of the complex is #1 Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.

Jaru123 April 8th, 2009, 05:50 PM The government of Trinidad and Tobago are preparing for a massive investment in the capital, Port of Spain over the next 10 years. An important driver for the island’s oil based economy is the development of the capital as the premier business city in the Caribbean.
EA have been commissioned as urban designers and landscape architects to develop a comprehensive masterplan with a team of international consultants for 4.5 miles of the capital’s waterfront. The development plan will incorporate a new rapid rail system also being worked on by EA, relocation of the port and associated facilities, options for a new city airport, and the creation of a new city highway.

SpeakOutTnT June 13th, 2009, 02:53 PM The Manning Administration is going to continue full steam ahead with this project, in fact the Honourable Prime Minister recently made a statement, that he intends to re-start some of the projects they had put on hold, mainly because of the commission of enquiry into udecott and the construction sector. They have already started doing some work by the movie towne area, and the idea is that they will soon remove the port entirely and relocate it to make way for this major development, as illustrated above. As you are probably aware Trinidad & Tobago's economy remains strong and continues to grow, unlike other countries it has been relatively unaffected by the financial crisis, due to its strong banking regulations, foreign direct investment is expected to double, because of these two international conferences, one of which was hosted already the SOA and the upcoming Chogm2009. Now that energy prices are on the increase and are now going for as of Thursday $72a barrel is good news for the Government, who already has a substantial amount of money stocked up.
The PM's Vision2020 are these projects:
*Rapid Rail
*Waterfront Skyline
*International Financial Centre
*Job Opportunities
*Highest Standard of living
*Knowledge Based Economy
These are just some of the Prime Ministers top priorities, and i can assure you that they be started, because when the prime minister is really passionate about things, he gets them done for the better of the country. however some may argue fairly that the PM is focusing too much on the construction and financial sectors and not paying enough attention to the public services sector.
