Decide Ryanair's next additional charge......

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (8 Apr) announced that it received over 12,000 suggestions from passengers as part of the low fares airline’s competition to suggest a discretionary revenue charge which would help lower Ryanair’s costs and reduce its guaranteed lowest fares even further.

Ryanair revealed the top five ideas and launched an online poll on www.ryanair.com to allow passengers to decide which idea is worthy of the €1,000 cash prize. The online poll will remain open until Friday 17th April.

The top five suggestions are:

€1 for toilet paper – with O’Leary’s face on it,
€2 “corkage” fee for passengers who bring their own food,
€5 annual subscription to access Ryanair.com,
€3 to smoke in a converted toilet cubicle,
Excess fees for overweight passengers based on body mass index.

Launching the poll, Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:

“Ryanair is Europe’s largest low fares airline and we will continue to reduce fares by stimulating ancillary revenues. Over 12,000 ideas were suggested to us as ways of driving our guaranteed lowest fares even lower and our top five entries are now available on ryanair.com for passengers to choose the winner. The online poll will close on Friday 17th April and the winning entry will be revealed shortly after.”

Vote on how to implement a 'fat tax' :lol:...

One In Three Ryanair Passengers Vote for ‘Fat Tax’

Ryanair to Consider How to Charge for Very Large Passengers

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (22 Apr) announced that it will now consider how to charge a ‘fat tax’ after more than 30,000 passengers voted in favour of charging excess weight fees for very large passengers in an online vote over the past two weeks.

Over 100,000 passengers voted, via www.ryanair.com, to decide which cost reduction idea should win a €1,000 cash prize. Ryanair confirmed the final poll results as follows:

29% - Excess fees for very overweight passengers,
25% - €1 for toilet paper – with O’Leary’s face on it,
24% - €3 to smoke in a converted toilet cubicle,
14% - Annual subscription to access Ryanair.com,
8% - €2 “corkage” fee for passengers who bring their own food onboard.

Ryanair will now consider how to implement such a charge and asked passengers to vote, via www.ryanair.com, on which format the charge should take:

Charge per kg over 130kg/20 stone (male) and 100kg/15 stone (female);
Charge per inch for every waist inch over 45 inch (male) and 40 inch (female);
Charge for every point in excess of 40 points on the Body Mass Index (+30 points is obese);
Charge for a second seat if passengers’ waist touches both armrests simultaneously.

Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:

“Over 100,000 passengers logged on to ryanair.com to take part in our competition and almost one in three (over 30,000)think that very large passengers should be asked to pay a fat tax.

“With passengers voting overwhelmingly for a ‘fat tax’ we are now asking them to suggest which format the charge should take. The above four points seem to us to be the simplest, fairest and administratively easiest to apply. In all cases we’ve limits at very high levels so that a ‘fat tax’ will only apply to those really large passengers who invade’ the space of the passengers sitting beside them.

“These charges, if introduced might also act as an incentive to some of our very large passengers to lose a little weight and hopefully feel a little lighter and healthier.

“The revenues from any such fat tax will be used to lower the airfares for all Ryanair passengers yet further. Passengers can vote for their preference on www.ryanair.com until Monday 27th April”.

Hi everyone, do you know whether there is an official thread about Ryanair in skyscraper for the UK? I've been looking for it but only founded the Spanish one.
Thank you everyone and sorry for the offtopic.

The fat tax has been scraped as it's impossible to levy. However Ryanair are planning to take out 2 of the three onboard toilets and replace them with seats. Ryanair have asked Boeing to come up with a mechanism to charge passengers to use the toilet.

^^ The idea of adding seats by removing a bathroom is a good one in my opinion, as I consider two bathrooms to be enough. But charge for them?? That's no sense!, however they have already said they are not going to do that, at least by now.
