DnB NOR is a part of the OperaKvarteret (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=774674) highrise clauster
This is the barcode building between Visma Bygget (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=553277) and DnB NOR Headquarter (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=641578). Its a 15 floor tall residential building
designed by Norwegian architect company MAD (Moderne Arkitektur og Design AS) (http://www.mad.no/).

kjetilab April 11th, 2009, 11:42 PM Even if we don't have the height to the centimeter, it will be around 50 metres.
IceCheese April 12th, 2009, 05:45 PM Doesn't look much like a residential now... Do we know that this is the final design? Or is it just a volume-scetch?
Þróndeimr April 12th, 2009, 06:26 PM ^^ since its not all set for construction yet i guess we can hope for some facade-changes and maybe smaller design changes.
muster April 12th, 2009, 06:29 PM I`m not worried about the design. I trust MAD :)
marshol April 12th, 2009, 07:22 PM It can't be the final design. The render has 17 floors.
Ingenioren April 14th, 2009, 02:31 PM I was hoping for the breadslice.... ;P Not enough barcode for ya?...
kjetilab June 19th, 2009, 09:20 PM It can't be the final design. The render has 17 floors.
According to the OSU-person I spoke to today 17 floors is the correct height. Somewhere around 50 metres..
Þróndeimr June 19th, 2009, 09:28 PM ^^ good, will change the thread title.
IceCheese June 19th, 2009, 09:42 PM Yeah, YOU go do that!
Seems to be time to post a new render so I'll post the render from OSU Mag.
http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o309/IceCheese/MAD.jpg
You can use it in your first post, or you can ask me to give you the whole file, if you want a perspective covering more of Barcode.
Þróndeimr June 19th, 2009, 09:53 PM ^^ i need a full size scan of the barcode render as posted in the fjorcity thread, as huge as possible! Get your ass on msn now, or give me a link (if the file gets big, upload to rapidshare or something)! :P
Ingenioren June 30th, 2009, 01:55 AM ^ I bet you this is not the final design tough :) And that's a good thing, because i think it's needs more diversity. And ofcourse the barcode police will say those boxes are ruining the view down the street, and that it will need a ruler-straight appearance inline with the other codes.
IceCheese June 30th, 2009, 02:34 AM @Þróndeimr: As promised, here comes the link(s):

Spearman June 30th, 2009, 11:33 PM So the title on the list says
OSLO | MAD Bygget | 14fl | App
but the title on the OP says
OSLO | MAD Bygget | 17fl | App
wtf? I thought they were the same by default?
Þróndeimr June 30th, 2009, 11:43 PM ^^ Its actually me editing the second title, but forgot to pass the word to swede since i am not allowed to change the first and main title. :)
Ingenioren July 2nd, 2009, 11:44 AM ^ Someone should change that, would save them big guys a little...
Ingenioren November 24th, 2009, 08:34 PM There has been a complete redesign of this one appearantly:
Stumbled over this regarding the last barcode blocks aswell as Mad-bygget:
http://web102881.pbe.oslo.kommune.no/saksinnsyn/showfile.asp?fileid=2420254
It will be 15 floors (cote 51m) in most of it's length, except for 1/4th facing Trelast street, that will be 13 floors.
Þróndeimr November 24th, 2009, 08:38 PM ^^ great! Now we just need the renderings! :D
IceCheese November 25th, 2009, 01:00 AM So they want it to be in full height in all of the plot instead of just half of it like originally designed? What a surprise.. Another Barcode turning out FAR more massive than planed. Does anyone have any controll here at all? Seems all Norwegian architects after given a plot to build on, gets completely FIXED on using the whole plot at full height, and then adding some designish things afterwards. Not the way to create good, intriguing architecture in my eyes.:ohno:
FAIL!
Þróndeimr November 25th, 2009, 01:08 AM ^^ well, this one has been lowered from 17 to 15 floors, which means it will be a bit more in contrast to its nabouring 67m tall buildings.
Still, i'd like Barcode to be everything from 40m - 120m.

Is it surprising, though? City planning in Norway is NIMBY controlled, and they seem to only care about what they can quantify - height (to pinnacle, that is) number of floors (again to the top floor), number of square meters, etc. No wonder then, there is a pressure to find loopholes in the pattern that maximizes profit.
Ingenioren January 20th, 2010, 06:09 PM So here is the new design, 48 meters and 15 floors:

Btw, here are the original Lund Hagem design that won the competition in 2007.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y136/cityw/Skyscrapercity/LundHagemB13middle1.jpg
marshol January 20th, 2010, 08:06 PM I liked vev. A new and exiting facade design in my eyes.
Sad it's not 17 floors anymore.
essenze January 20th, 2010, 11:06 PM I don't understand why any buildings should be built as wafer thin as this one looks to be. It surely must be very inefficient and poor cost-effectiveness. Also, practically all of the windows area (one the long sides) will face directly into the other building only a couple of meters away. Seems like a very bad solution IMO.
IceCheese January 21st, 2010, 12:58 AM As stated before, I am very disapointed that this building ended as a squareshaped box. And these designs didn't do much to better my view of this building. I guess "vev" is my favorite, though I'm skeptical if this is the best solution for this plot.
Ingenioren January 21st, 2010, 03:04 PM practically all of the windows area (one the long sides) will face directly into the other building only a couple of meters away. .
Their presentation said they wished to apply the city to move the building some meters closer to Visma, and thus provide more daylight. I know we all would like a taller building, but i guess it was required to lower so the Barcode-effect isn't lost... We knew that some buildings would have to be significantly lower than 60 meters for the concept to work, and this turned out to be one of them.
When that's said i like the pixel facade better, the very long facade will be very exposed due to the stairs-shaped DnB-Nor, and it requires a certain appearance of a varied facade, a regular grid will be wrong imo.
IceCheese January 21st, 2010, 05:24 PM To me the tower is far to tall to give a "low-rise" impression. If they cut the height to 4-6 floors, we would get a real effect.
and it requires a certain appearance of a varied facade, a regular grid will be wrong imo.
^^YOU'RE wrong, imo! As it seems both Visma and DnBNOR B will have very diffrensiated facade covers (i wouldn't say "caotic", though), so a more patterned facade would work well here. My honest opinion:)
And for reminders, Visma's wall:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y162/cityz/VismaBygget5small.jpg
and DnBNOR B's wall:
http://osu.no/typo3temp/pics/1c1a3e1630.jpg
Ingenioren January 21st, 2010, 05:32 PM ^ I'm certainly glad it's not cut to 6 floors!
Indeed, but this one will be very exposed from the east when walking down the avenue, while Vismas sides will be almost completly hidden and so will DnB-Nors.
IceCheese January 21st, 2010, 09:02 PM ^ I'm certainly glad it's not cut to 6 floors!
Indeed, but this one will be very exposed from the east when walking down the avenue, while Vismas sides will be almost completly hidden and so will DnB-Nors.
Well, it doesn't have to be lowrise all way through. The plot is 100 meters long, for gods sake! Do a pyramide or, whatever, I don't care. I just want a more varied view from DEG and soutwards towards the Barcode-blocks. Or else we'll end up with this (model by me: ) █▌▐ ▌▐▐▌█▌█▌▐
To have much lower buildings is also part of the original Barcode concept. I would also have wished for more variation in shapes and volumes, also more in terms with the original plans of Dark.
(thank you trondheimer, for making an archive of all this:) Hard to find elsewhere!)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v646/cityq/Projects%20and%20developments/Barcode03model2.jpg
O also notice that Dark has much fewer groundlevel crossings between the buildings. Personally I don't see what we need all the crossroads for.
Ingenioren January 21st, 2010, 11:22 PM Crossroads are very important for politicians to feel they have some air in return for allowing evil towers, no mention those open alleys are not needed for nothing... Quite curious what Osu can make of them... Give it a few years, and i bet they will be glasscovered and built shops in them.. :)
Mr. Love Architectur June 24th, 2010, 12:27 PM MAD architecture firm has let out a picture teaser of the exterior on the apartment complex their drawing up next to Visma.
http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz244/weidel23/mad-operakvarteret-fasade.jpg
muster June 24th, 2010, 07:59 PM I like it a lot! I have never been worried aboout this building, but i'm happy to see the MAD "signature" in the facade.
IceCheese June 25th, 2010, 02:17 PM The new OSU-mag features a new render showing the view from DEG:
http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o309/IceCheese/Mad-trn.jpg
To me, I'm a bit surprised that the facade turns out this boring and monotous. Could've been a random boligblokk in any part of the city... Another Enerhaug terasse?
Ingenioren June 25th, 2010, 03:09 PM You think so, when i look at the Osu-mag render i think it seems to be a "waving" polygon-shape of the building itself behind the rectangular balconies, looks lively and better than what we have seen previously wich is purely rectangular building.. :) And the colours, YES!
Ingenioren July 23rd, 2010, 04:11 PM Design is now revealed, the only facade with waved surface will be the eastern:
http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv353/Ingenioren2/DSC_2502.jpg
Facade will be covered with an inner layer of wood and an outside layer of aluminium grid plates that residents can move around the edge of their balconies:

DnBnor building C closest to the "camera"!
marshol August 7th, 2010, 02:36 AM Is this also U/C soon?
IceCheese August 7th, 2010, 03:54 AM Since the building is almost completely residental, I would guess they won't start construction til they've sold a certain share of the appartments. Sales haven't started yet, as you may know...
They are constructing the basement and foundations now, though. Just as the basement of Isfjellet, it's common and crucial for the whole Operakvarteret. We may (but hopefully not) see a similiar construction stop when the reach ground level, as we're currently seeing with Isfjellet.
marshol August 7th, 2010, 04:29 PM Mhm, yeah I know, I have't been down there and seen the whole for a while. Hopefully the sale will be a success and the building will start rising.
Ingenioren August 7th, 2010, 05:01 PM Didn't notice that they've started on this aswell, but it makes sense if they did it tough as even B13s first step is getting foundations done!
IceCheese August 7th, 2010, 08:34 PM Well, they've havent exactly started on it any more than digging it out. But I guess it's progressing some way or another.
Ingenioren September 7th, 2010, 10:43 AM We have a digger, and we have a new ramp - so prepping this one now:

http://www.operakvarteret.no/bolig/finn-din-bolig/boligtrinn-ii/om-prosjektet/
Extremely expensive.. I get the top floors, which will be amazing, but the lower floors is stupidly expensive - with no wiew, no sun and a pretty straight section, don't seem like the best buy to me..
This is the LAST ONE from Stage one: http://www.finn.no/finn/realestate/homes/object?finnkode=22634760 (12,6 mill NOK)
Mr. Love Architectur December 10th, 2010, 01:55 PM Since no news whatsoever has been released about the start of the sales and how many are sold, it looks like it hasnt been much of a success so far. But it could off course be lowsy ad and/or real estate people involved. I would certainly sell the article of how many are sold, which apartments and further on.
Does anybody know how many are sold? they are waaaaay to late to update the homepage
marshol December 10th, 2010, 05:22 PM Would be interesting to follow the selling progress. Here's the ad at finn: http://www.finn.no/finn/realestate/homes/object?finnkode=25409012&sid=sid/2010/12/10/16/xz0821291994377926y
Ingenioren December 13th, 2010, 12:07 PM http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss282/Ingenioren3/DSC_0675.jpg
Mr. Love Architectur December 22nd, 2010, 12:15 PM And yes, finally they have updated their homepage. 29 sold apartments seems very good for the opening few weeks. But strangely enough its only the small one bedroom apartments that have sold. Seems that many probably go for a apartment commute or generally the market for smaller apartments are better? I think a couple of the high floor apartments probably will sell all right, but better and cooler projects will come, than very very small apartments, that are almost exclusively dark on one side, and 45 % of the other side. Extremely few will have evening sun in this building to say it that way. DNB nor top penthouses will probably sell out way faster. especially the ones in front of DMG. ANd i think the last project will sell like hell. This will be one cool as hell project, i just hope they make it a cool facade.

Why have they removed the floor elements of the first floor?

Why have they removed the floor elements of the first floor?
I thought there were something strange, I just couldn't put my finger on it
My guess, they have made a deal with some tenant with special needs. Or maybe this "open" solution is more attractive in the market.
marshol September 9th, 2011, 07:45 PM I noticed the same when i made tha last post, but forgot to mention it.
Weird to make changes like that after they have started constuction. Never seen that before. Maybe they read the blueprint wrong.
IceCheese September 9th, 2011, 09:01 PM Once again, I'm not an engineer, and my specialty is law and informatics, but to me the old "floor" looks more like a scaffolding than something that was ment to be permanent. That they would just "change" specifications in the middle of building is more than unlikely. And as we know, Elixia will have the first floor here, while the floor above is supposedly hold for office space.
Mad() rising!:

marshol October 30th, 2011, 05:18 PM Anyone have renders of how MAD will look towards Trelastgata with the new design?
The old model had 3 floors to the north. Will it be 15 all the way now?

There will be a one floor high setback towards Trelastgata, meaning the building will appears like it's 14 floors high. Look closely in the right upper edge of the building in this render:

marshol October 30th, 2011, 11:36 PM One floor setback? What's the point? Doesn't make much variation in the building or the b.code in general.
IceCheese October 31st, 2011, 12:32 AM It will be two floors setback, as shown in the salesmodel: http://www.operakvarteret.no/bolig/finn-din-bolig/boligtrinn-ii/leilighetene/#/bygget
The point is "siktlinjer", of course. This open space will meet with DnBNOR C and others...
