View Full Version : IT Corridor | Technopark Phase II - Parcel A | IT SEZ | Infosys Campus | 1.5 Mn Sq.ft. | U/C
Ajaypp April 19th, 2009, 07:24 PM Infosys Technologies is setting up a futuristic 1.5 million sq.ft, 8-10,000-seat campus in Trivandrum. The 50 acre campus is located within Phase II of Technopark.
The project broke ground on May 19, 2007 (http://www.hindu.com/pp/2007/05/26/stories/2007052651810200.htm).
Infosys plans a modern campus
Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan performed the ground-breaking ceremony of the maiden full-fledged campus of the Indian information-technology major Infosys Technologies Ltd. in the State in the expanded area of the Technopark in the capital city on May 19.
The company has been running a development centre since 2004 in a leased space in the Tejaswini building of the park and 1,200 people are working there. The new campus will be located on 20 hectares of land adjacent to the park. It will form part of the second phase of the Technopark expansion plans.
The company officials have announced that they propose to invest about Rs. 306 crore for constructing the campus, which when completed will have 8,000 seats. The work will be implemented in phases in about five years, according to the present plans.
They propose to construct a state-of-the art-campus with a lot of eco-friendly features. In Infosys, we were able to add several innovative features to each new campus based on the experiences we had during the construction and working of the previous campuses, says K. Dinesh, co-founder and member the director board of the company.
Nearly 60 per cent of the proposed built-up area of 15 lakh square feet will be dedicated to greenery. Maximum attention is being devoted to ensure that the constructions will not disturb the natural ambience, including the water reserves, of the campus.
The layout of the proposed world-class campus shows five software development blocks, two food courts, one hostel block, multi-level parking facility, recreational and indoor sports facilities and a helipad. The company officials say they are finalising the exact space allocation plans for each wing and will soon start the works. The recreational facilities will be housed in the lower floors of the food-court blocks. The recreation portion will also have a yoga centre, a gymnasium and aerobic exercise centres and related facilities. Vehicles will not be allowed inside the campus and they will have to be parked in the area meant for that to avoid disturbing the serene atmosphere of the campus.
Another important feature of the campus will be that it will have two big ponds for rainwater harvesting. It will have a sewage-treatment and a solid- waste treatment facility.
The first Software Development Block will be commissioned in May, according to Kris (http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2009/03/03/stories/2009030351140400.htm).
Referring to company’s future plans in the State, he said that the first phase of the Infosys campus coming up in Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram at an investment of Rs 100 crore would be completed by May this year. It will have a capacity to accommodate 4,000 people.
In this aerial shot from October 2007, we can see Technopark Phase II as the filled in areas. The Infosys campus is being built on the plot to the left of the frame and on the one on the lower right.

While posting decline in sales 2008-2009 q4 results Infy like others would not be spending too much on People resources. Yet the progress shown in Ajay bhais pictures from a month ago is to be believed they are investing in building spaces. Good thread Ajay , lets see if the Infy ship in TVM can cruise in troubled waters

I doubt whether any other Infosys campus has 20+ floor high-rises in its immediate vicinity. High-rises, sea, hills the views would be awesome..
And you can expect the four 21 floor towers of Condor Cyber gardens as well as the towers of the Sreedhanya Project in the same frame a few years later.

vinodtnt June 10th, 2010, 12:50 PM THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/BANGALORE: IT bellwether Infosys will hire 30,000 professionals this year as growth has returned to the sector, Chief Executive Kris Gopalakrishnan said here on Thursday.
"Infosys will recruit 30,000 professionals this year," Gopalakrishnan told reporters.
He said growth had come back to the IT industry and this was evident from the performance of companies, including Infosys.
Infosys has a development centre at the Technopark campus here and employs more than 1,500 professionals.
He said a new campus in the special economic zone near Technopark would be fully operational by the end of the year.
He expressed confidence that Kerala will soon be a force in IT and the need of the hour is good promotion.
"Every destination has some pluses and minuses and for Kerala the perception that it is not a destination to invest still continues, but the experience of those who have already invested is the exact opposite and hence the state should vigorously promote the advantages," added Gopalakrishnan.
"Another great advantage that is unique to the state is ayurveda. And especially for IT professionals, the availability of ayurveda in the state is a huge benefit," said Gopalakrishnan.

Oh no, its a big A+ for Babu, just wanted to point out the one which wasn't mentioned. ;)
I think a few more buildings would be seen on the left side of the frame apart from the ones Sudheesh and Babu mentioned (which will be coming up on the right side of Heera Infocity). Sreedhanya Lakewoods may break into the frame as will the Hilton 5 star proposed opposite Cyberpalms. Would be nice to see a future montage of the area and compare it with how this all looked 2 years back. Dynamic! :)

This project is actually outside the purview of the EC due to its classification in terms of environmental impact but most IT firms go in for the EC as part of their business principles. So an amendment may not be required.
Additionally, if the gross size and/or the extent of environmental impact do not change when the master plan is modified, a new EC may not be required.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an otherwise sunny outlook for the IT industry worldwide, there are little dark clouds like the unrest in the Arab world, but Infosys CEO and MD Kris Gopalakrishnan foresees a long-term growth for the industry worldwide, and a continued leadership position for the Indian IT sector.
His own company is poised to grow at a fast clip of 25-26% this fiscal, significantly ahead of the Nasscom-projected growth rate of 16-18% for the domestic industry.
"India will continue to lead in the IT services sector in the near term, at least for 5-10 years", Gopalakrishnan said here, shortly after his company's newest software development block was opened near the Technopark here at a 50-acre campus. The facility has capacity to seat 1,600 staff, and involves an investment of Rs 180 crore.

Infosys accounts for 18% of IT, ITeS exports from Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 17:
Infosys has become one of the largest exporters in IT and ITeS from Kerala and now contributes to 18 per cent of the State's export in the sectors in 2009-10, according to Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Software Development Block-1 in the new campus at Technopark-II (an SEZ) here, Mr Gopalakrishnan said that the campus will grow to five lakh in built-up space when the second building gets ready for occupation in May.
STP TO SEZ
Infosys started its operations in Thiruvananthapuram in January 2004, housed in the Bhavani and Thejaswini buildings of Technopark. The campus at Technopark (STP) seats over 1,500 employees.
“Within a short span of six years, we have gone from no presence in Thiruvananthapuram to an STP facility and an SEZ.
“We have gone from zero employees to more than 2,800 employees and nil revenue to more than Rs 440 crore as of today. This centre is growing at about 30 per cent annually and is one of our fastest at that,” Mr Gopalakrishnan said.
The State Government has invested and worked towards enhancing infrastructure facilities at Thiruvananthapuram to make it a premier IT destination globally.
“Kerala has a large pool of highly qualified professionals and the availability of quality manpower has been an impetus for us to expand operations in the State,” Mr Gopalakrishnan said.
GROWTH RATE
In the just concluded National Association for Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) at Mumbai, the industry growth rate for the current year was projected to be between 16 and 18 per cent.
In the long term, the industry is projected to grow at around 11 to 13 per cent, reaching $225 billion by 2020. Infosys is projected to grow between 25 and 26 per cent in fiscal 2011.
“For the next year, we are making 25,000 offers in campuses. For this, we have already visited about 30 college campuses in Kerala,” the Infosys top honcho said.
Campus connect
The company has been running an initiative called Campus Connect. Through this initiative, it seeks to enable faculty and train students. This year, 24 colleges from Kerala have participated in the initiative.
About 15,700 students from Kerala have downloaded courseware that the company shares on a portal, again as part of the Campus Connect programme.
SUPPORT INFRASTRUCTURE
As the number of employees working in Technopark grow, the company has to make sure that the support infrastructure around has to be developed to keep pace with this growth.
It will require wider and better managed roads. There has to be housing complexes, schools for the children, enhanced other support systems like hotels, restaurants, and hospitals.
Mr Gopalakrishnan suggested that the State Government develop these facilities ahead of time. This will encourage more companies to come to Thiruvananthapuram and more people to move to the city seeking employment.

Infosys has big plans for city
THIRUVANATHAPURAM: After gifting a ship-shaped building, Infosys Technologies is all set to present the city with its biggest multi-level parking complex as well as a couple of software development blocks.
The ship-shaped building, which is the first software development block of Infosys on its own campus, was formally inaugurated by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan on Thursday. Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy also attended the inaugural function.
The new block, that can accommodate 1,600 professionals, has come up on the 50 acres of land which is part of Technopark Phase-II.
Infosys is also constructing another ship-shaped building that could accommodate another 1,800 professionals and it is scheduled to be completed by May. Once it is complete, the IT giant will be constructing two other software development blocks on the campus as well as a multi-level parking complex.
“ With 10 lakh square feet, the parking lot will be able to accommodate 3,000 cars, 3,000 two-wheelers and 30 buses and it will be the biggest parking complex in Kerala,” said Infosys senior vice-president Ramadas Kamath.
The ship-shaped building, located along the NH Bypass near Technopark, has also obtained the Platinum LEED certification of the Indian Green Building Council for its environment-friendly initiatives. The campus offers state-of-the-art facilities to the employees, including food courts, health club, badminton court and swimming pool.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister said that with Infosys setting up its own campus in Kerala, the State would get a much more prominent place on the world IT map. He also said that the government has been maintaining a liberal stand on providing land and other support for the development of the IT sector.
Infosys Technologies chief executive officer and managing director Kris Gopalakrishnan said on the occasion that there is an immediate need to develop the infrastructure in the State so as to attract further investments.
Infosys had commenced its operations in Kerala in 2004 from Technopark. So far, this fiscal, Infosys units in Thiruvananthapuram have generated a revenue of Rs 440 crore. The new software development block will be focusing mainly on mobile-based applications, said Kris.
Infosys Technologies board member Srinath Batni and Thiruvananthapuram Development Centre head Sunil Jose also were present at the inaugural session.

PROFILE: CEO and MD of Infosys Technologies. He is also one of its seven co-founders
HE SAYS: You become far more successful if you adapt when circumstances change and then do the very best you can, at that point in time.
The position will automatically come. Do something useful.
Senapathy “Kris” Gopalakrishnan, 55, was born and brought up in Thiruvananthapuram (then called Trivandrum). His father had started work as a clerk, right out of school, but he soon realised that he was not meant to be one and started a small plumbing business that he ran all his life. On both sides, Kris’s grandparents were teachers. So, Kris’s father starting a business was an anomaly of sorts; but subliminally it did pave the path to entrepreneurship for Kris.
The interesting thing about entrepreneurship is that more than a specific competence, it calls for comfort in giving up job security. Because that idea was embedded in his childhood memory, decades later, Infosys co-founder Kris didn’t think twice about giving up job security.
“My entire childhood and schooling was in Trivandrum,” says Kris. “Very early on, I started a liking for science as a subject. I was neither encouraged nor discouraged by my parents in what I did. I studied in a government school. Though my parents were otherwise not involved, the only thing they asked of me was to study medicine.”

^^
Sanju I have to disagree with you in this regard to an extend.
In my opinion what Vjfile quoted is correct because Trivandrum used to Ananthan Kadu. It was a thick forest surrounded by seven hills.
When King Marthandavarma took over the Kingdom he submitted the country to the feet of Lord Sreepadmanabha(Krishna/Vishnu) and he acquired the name Padmanabha dasa. The God in this temple is Lord Padmanabha reclining on his serpent bed Anantha.
You are correct the city is of known for Lord AnanthaPadmanabhan but at the same time the name derived from the Ananhan Kadu .
There is still Ananthan Kadu Nagaraja temple inside fort just behind Padmanabhaswami temple :)
^^
http://www.hindupedia.com/en/Padamanabha_Swamy_Temple
http://wikimapia.org/8596838/ANANTHAN-KADU-NAGARAJA-TEMPLE-Embran
Origin of nameThe city gets its name from the word, Thiru-anantha-puram, meaning the "Abode of Lord Ananta".[17] The name derives from the deity of the Hindu temple at the centre of the city. Anantha is the serpent Shesha on whom Padmanabhan or Vishnu reclines. The temple of Vishnu reclining on Anantha, the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple remains the iconic landmark of the city. The city was officially referred to as Trivandrum until 1991, when the government decided to reinstate the city's original name Thiruvananthapuram.

"The city of Lord Ananthan" is right Sanju...
ie; It's the city of the 1000 faced snake on which he sleeps in palazhy. :)

vjfile June 17th, 2011, 06:55 AM Hehe.. Sanju bhai had to agree there.. :P thiruvananthapuram city is indeed known as the city of Lord Padmanabhan but what i had meant by City of lord Ananthan was an english translation of the word "Thiruvananthapuram". :)
And due to that we were able to get a brief history of how the city got its name. Kudos guys.. :)
And I also feel that the city name is more attached to Ananthan as the Lord Vishnu is lying on the city, thus the city is actually acting as Ananthan.
Vivektvm June 17th, 2011, 01:59 PM ^^ - Very interesting pics highlighting the massive amount of real estate development in progress along the IT Corridor. ajithv July 16th, 2011, 12:49 PM In a move to launch more employee-friendly initiatives, India’s second largest IT exporter Infosys (formerly Infosys Technologies) has launched a social media platform for its employees.
Said to be an equivalent of Facebook, the social networking platform ‘Infosys Bubble’ allows an employee to share his/her views, pictures, moods and blogs among 1,33,560 fellow Infoscions.“We understood the need of communication among Infosicons. Two years ago, during our strategy meeting, members of our Rs Voice of Youth’ team gave a proposal and our technology team designed it. It resulted in Infosys Bubble,” said Nandita Gurjar, Senior VP and Group head, HR of Infosys. According to the company, an employee can post general comments on the management using the platform, but have to maintain discipline.
They are not allowed to post personal comments on any individual or senior officials.
The social platform launched one-and-a-half months ago, has around 2,61,030 connections and has created around 74,376 profiles.
Infosys is also planning to launch its own radio station called ‘Infy radio’, exclusively for its employees. The radio station is expected to be launched in a couple of months. To enjoy Infy Radio, employees need to download an application on their iPod and other handheld devices and listen to music on demand, said Gurjar.
“The radio project will be like a normal radio station from where employees can tune in to music and request for their favourite songs. Through this radio station, we plan to bring more fun for employees. Here you can spoof even your leaders … as it’s just fun,” Nandita added.
The Bangalore-based IT services firm which saw a drop in its attrition rate in the quarter ended June 30 at 15.5 per cent, is also planning to start an MBA programme for employees. The company intends to start the programme in partnership with a management institute.
According to company data, around 7,182 people left the organisation during the April- June period. More than 30 per cent of them left to pursue higher studies. The company said 32 per cent of the employees leave every quarter due to personal reasons and 38 move to other companies.
Infosys is also creating a proposal to launch another ‘Green Channel’ initiative, to hire ex-Infoscion from various B-schools. The company believes that Green Channel hiring are faster than normal hiring. The company said it was planning to hire around 12,000 people in the second quarter of FY12 and had revised hiring guidance for the year 2012 to 45,000 from earlier 36,000.

Mahesh October 27th, 2011, 07:38 AM An article that came up in Jagran Post on Oct 23rd..
http://post.jagran.com/infoys-to-invest-rs-800-crore-in-kerala-1319308846
Alappuzha (Kerala): IT major Infoys plans to invest Rs 800 crore in Kerala to expand operations and expects to generate 10,000 new jobs through this in the next five years, a top company official said here on Saturday.
The company has two centres in Thiruvananthapuram and provides employment to 2,100 professionals, Infoys CEO S D Shibulal told reporters here.
He said Infosys has set a target to to recuit 45,000 persons this year in the country and had already given jobs to 15,000.
Shibulal said global recession had not seriously affected the company's operations. Business in the second quarter grew by 4.5 per cent and Infosys acquired 45 new clients, he said.
The company also entered into agreement with four major multinationals this year, he added.
He said there was no threat to Indian IT sector from any other countries in the near future. English based education and a good foundation in science and mathematics for students have helped India emerge as a major player in IT sector in the world, he said.
Total IT business in Kerala was Rs 3,200 crore and Infoys' share would come to around Rs 608 crore, he said to a question. There was issue connected with labour in company's centres in the state, he added.

I see a lot of construction activities going on around the infosys building. Now there is a lot of greenery. I hope that some of the trees will have to be cut down to provide the space for the buildings and this will have the effect of reducing the greenery if not eliminate it .To offset they should start planting trees inside the campuses in a beautiful and orderly way and along the NH and other newly formed roads so that the greenery will continue and there will be an aesthetic appeal also. But the trees should be planted on road sides in such a way that the roads have sufficient width to serve for a longer period and the trees will not have to be cut inviting the wrath of the environmentalists.
Cheers!!!

Hi GodsOwnCapital - I was not talking Blr because it is capital . I hope I was clear when I was making reference to Bangalore's IT infrastructure and capabilities. I dont mind if such a thing happens in Trv/Cochin or anywhere in kerala because I am someone who loves to be in kerala if given right opportunities. Now Tvm has created a great opportunity for itself by getting some huge MNC to be in the city. I hope it continues like that. Having said that, I have worked in TVM for most part of my career and I know the city and love it a lot. Its not about wannabe or not wannabe . I love to get direct comments other than indirectly bashing every other city whenever we get a chance.I hate this in SSC.

There was no pun intended. If u felt there was indirect bash, it was the way u understood. I never meant anything against a particular city/town/district. I was just re-affirming your statement that tvm for kerala is as important as blr for k'taka.

sajith April 6th, 2012, 06:29 PM Trivandrum: Even though Kerala takes a prominent position in the national IT scene, the IT exports from the state (Rs. 3000 crores) still lies way beyond other southern states like Andhra Pradesh (Rs. 40,000 crores) Tamil Nadu (Rs.40,000 crores) and Karnataka (Rs.85,000crores). The upcoming Technocity project, devised as the fourth phase expansion plan of Technopark, is expected to take Kerala closer into the competition. And as with Technopark, Technocity too stands to gain significantly by getting an Infosys campus.
Infosys, Trivandrum
It was a momentous occasion for the IT sector as Infosys Senior Vice President HR Binod signed the agreement with Technopark CEO K G Girish Babu, on Wednesday April 4, in the presence of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Finance Minister K M Mani, Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty and Infosys Executive Co-chairman Kris Gopalakrishnan.
“The coming up of the second Infosys campus would further strengthen the IT sector of the state,” said Oommen Chandy.
The new campus would be built at a cost of Rs.600 crores and would have a space of one million square feet. This is in addition to the 0.5 million sqft that's already under operation at Technopark Phase 1 and at the company's first campus situated adjacent to Technopark, which also has been included under SEZ (Special Economic Zone). More than 10,000 direct employment opportunities would be created with the coming up of the second campus at Technocity. The number of employment opportunities created indirectly comes to the tune of 50,000.
At present, Infosys accounts for Rs. 600 crores out of the Rs. 3000 crore IT export from the state; that's 20% of the total IT export from the state. The two development centres in the two phases of Technopark provide employment to 4100 IT professionals.
“The fact that prominent companies such as Infosys see Kerala as a favourable place for investment is a matter of pride and would also go a long way in helping in the growth of the IT sector in the state,” said Industries Minister Kunhalikkutty.
Infosys would be paying the Government a price commensurate of Rs.47.74 crores for the 50 acres of land handed over to the company under SEZ. As per SEZ rules, the company that receives the land should set a built up space of one million sqft in three years.
The company is setting up its second campus in Trivandrum for a good reason.
“With an annual growth of 30%, the Trivandrum centre is the fastest growing centre of Infosys across the country,” said Kris Gopalakrishnan.
The company plans to add another 3500 IT professionals into its first campus and increase IT export from Rs.600 crores to Rs.800 crores.
The upcoming campus at Technocity is expected to generate exports of Rs.1500 crores in a projected five to eight years.

Nice shot, but it looks too symmetrical to be real.
Looks like the image has been mirrored at the centre and then touched up to create some difference between the two sides.

That's probably the MLCP, but SDB 3 is not ship-shaped, it's a more conventional cuboid with about 650,000 SF of floor space.
