Alvor é uma freguesia portuguesa do concelho de Portimão, com 15,25 km² de área e 4 977 habitantes (2001). Densidade: 326,3 hab/km².

Limita com as seguintes freguesias: Mexilhoeira Grande (N), Portimão (E) e Odiáxere (O).

Terra de tradição marítima e piscatória, de profundas crenças religiosas, assinaladas pela Igreja Matriz, donde se destaca o seu pórtico principal de grande riqueza decorativa, esteve desde sempre sujeita aos infortúnios da faina e infortúnios do mar. Hoje, paralelamente com a pesca de cariz artesanal, a restauração, o comércio e o turismo são as actividades económicas principais.

Alvor é muito conhecida pelas suas praias e pela sua aldeia piscatória junto à foz do rio.

Aqui faleceu, em 25 de Outubro de 1495, el-rei de Portugal D. João II. Pouco tempo depois, D. Manuel elevou-a a vila sede de concelho, estatuto que viria a perder no início do século XIX. O pequeno município era constituído apenas pela vila e tinha, em 1801, 1 288 habitantes.

É costume ouvir os visitantes ou pessoas de fora chamar "O Alvor" à vila, quando a designação "O Alvor" se refere ao rio com o mesmo nome. Para alguém se referir a Alvor, simplesmente deve indicar Alvor ou vila de Alvor.

O nome desta vila, contrariamente ao que se poderá pensar, não significa alvorada, início do dia, mas sim fortaleza, castelo, derivando do árabe al-burdj.

Actualmente, a sua principal indústria é o turismo.

Existe um aeródromo em Alvor (montes de Alvor/Penina), conhecido frequentemente por (PRM) /Portimão.

E tem uma noite muito boa....bifas por m2 que nem sei...:banana:

Sempre que tenho oportunidade não dispenso uma ida a Alvor, comer um peixinho de dia ao sol, e de noite ir beber umas guiness a um pub irlandês pequeno que há por lá.

Uma vez vi também 45 minutos de um jogo da Premier League ao lado dos bifes, gostei!

É uma localidade tipica algarvia, se bem que no Verão também ainda tem confusão que chegue, algo que não gosto muito.

Aquele edifício novo a que te referes, Lampião, está bom mas não combina com o que lhe está directamente ao lado...

Essa rotunda já está construida, julgo que desde Outubro do ano passado, em Agosto estava quase concluida. Fica perto da Torralta.

Então... agora virou moda :D

É mesmo Barra, porque como estava antes também não causava nenhuma confusão. Foi mesmo para ganhar dinheiro. Haviam era de arranjar parte da estrada que vai de Portimão para Alvor, que é esburacada.

Sim, eu tambem la estive em agosto e estava em obras.. Mas voltei agora em Abril e estava tal e qual como em Agosto!!!!! Só agora em finais de Abril é que a concluiram :bash:

Mas discordo que seja desnecessária. Aquilo era um bocado estupido, um triangulo com 5 saídas?

Bem, a rotunda em si está arranjada desde finais do ano passado, estive lá também na Páscoa. Em Agosto nem parecia que ia ficar uma rotunda, estava com uma configuração deveras esquisita, hehehehe

São realmente muitas saidas, mas pelo pouco volume de trafego, julgo que não se justificava ali uma rotunda, pelo menos para já, há outras zonas a precisar de intervenção.

Sim, já funcionava como rotunda, mas ainda tinha umas barreiras plasticas e uns sinais amarelos a indicar que era uma rotunda (sim, pk akilo tava meio oval). Agora é que "construiram" mesmo com cimento e alcatrão o circulo..

Tou a ver que já me devo ter cruzado contigo no Alvor.. Eu adoro aquilo, sempre que posso tou lá

Em agosto vou sempre 3 semanas para Portimão, mas a praia escolhida é sempre a de Alvor, bem mais tranquila que a da Rocha. E sempre que posso vou comer um belo dum peixinho e beber uma Guinness a Alvor :)

Minha família era afortunada bastante encontrar dentro Alvor 1997 e desde então we' traseiros; a VE sida traseira cada ano desde e estará lá outra vez em setembro. Desde que minhas crianças eram novas nós encontramos um ambiente seguro no clube Alvorferias e encontramos alguns povos que encantadores que têm os amigos longos tornados da vida, de facto convidados nosso amigo Rui sobre a permanecer o ano passado connosco, tinha sido previamente a Grâ Bretanha para visitar uma amiga em Scotland assim que não foi choc como nosso tempo áspero que inclui a neve e o frio extremo. Porque as crianças cresceram em adultos, nós permanecemos agora na vila própria geralmente em Dunas e em I don' t pensa que há uma barra ou um restaurante que nós não tentamos enquanto nós os amamos todos. Nós igualmente encontramos outros povos BRITÂNICOS lá quem o curso ao mesmo tempo que nós cada ano que têm ido para mesmo mais por muito tempo do que nós e considerou a área do porto crescer ao lado de nada ao lugar que fabuloso é agora. Nós nós vimos a ponte construída perto de Ali super e a área do porto realçada. Nós recomendamos sempre Alvor a qualquer um que escutará. Eu espero que você aprecia minhas fotografias. Todo o muito melhor a Alvor e a seus povos sem quem não seria tão bom.

My family were lucky enough to find Alvor back in 1997 and since then we've been back every year since and will be there again in September.

Since my children were young we found a safe environment at the Club Alvorferias and met some lovely people who have become life long friends, in fact invited our friend Rui over to stay with us last year, he had previously been to Britain to visit a girlfriend in Scotland so he was not shocked as our harsh weather including snow and the extreme cold.

As the children have grown into adults, we now stay in the village itself usually at Dunas and I don't think there is a bar or restaurant we have not tried as we love them all. We also meet other UK people there who travel at the same time as us every year who have been going for even longer than us and have seen the harbour area grow from next to nothing to the fabulous place it now is.

We ourselves have seen the bridge built near ali super and the harbour area enhanced. We always recommend Alvor to anyone who will listen. I hope you enjoy my photographs. All the very best to Alvor and its people without whom it would not be so good.


There are lots of little side sides full of friendly pubs where you can eat like this. Someone told me he thinks there is a law about the buildings all being white with terracota roofs and nothing tall can be built along the beach line.

Hotel Alvor. Now this is posh so we don't go there ha ha. Not child friendly, lots of Germans, plush isn't the word - must cost a packet.

When you go past the fountain at the front with koi carp in the pool, the entrance hall is marble with a pianist at a grand piano. As you descent the wide marble staircase there are fragrance shops along one wall with the restaurant ahead then the patio out onto the pool area which is elavated on a cliff top and looks out acroos that little bay and coves seen earlier.

We'd only wreck the place.

The owner and one of the barmen from Michael's bar - they are born entertainers - never a dull moment. If a girl gets up and sings 'like a virgin' they all yell from behind the bar 'YOU WISH' - they have answers for everything and they even know English slang so when they tease us we say 'beja macubu' ha ha - Oh that's kiss ma ass by the way - learned to us by the Portuguese lads we meet out there.

A few of ours went coastal fishing. Lovely coves and secluded little bits of beaches where some go nude too. You can also go deep sea shark fisihng - rods, ale and food included - it's a whole day, snorkling, glass bottom boat sightseeing, paragliding or just lie by the pool with a pint like me ;)

Our Melissa and her fella Anthony swimming with the dolphins.
The sealife people give you a 20 min talk on what to do and not what to do as they are very sensitive. An example from a lady they met there was two of the dolphins kept paying particular attention to one female tourist, swimming around her, brushing up against her, squealing, spouting water etc - the other tourists were getting jealous haha. The official said - you are pregnant - 'I am not' she said. It only turns out she was and didn't know it at the time.

Our lot.

The strip is lined with bars but i've never seen a commotion yet, everyone just seems to be having such a good time. Mind you the police look like who you wouldn't mess with - truncheons and tasers on show, tucked into belts - never seen them used - they just laugh along with the tourists. Four clubs in particular - Sports bar, Boozer, happy nites and one ive forgotten are the late bars - ie until about 4/5am. Some let you double up - they lock up and you can sit outside at their tables until your heart's content.

This is our easyjet over Speke last year taking off. We normally go package holiday with Thompson or have flown Monarch for safety/ease but done it DIY last year booking everything sperately - more work - saved a bit - bit uneasy about everything fitting it - no cancellations of flight etc.

Food: Loads of restaurants. Seafood, in particular seems to be their speciality and down by the harbour the smell of the barbeques is terrific with monk fish and sardines a foot long. You can go on boat trips where they guarantee you to catch your own dinner.

Chicken piri piri is everywhere as well as well as the usual steaks etc in mushroom and wine sauce - lovely.

Trips out: The Zoo marine is a must. They are conservationists and narrate in English over the shows about the habitat, age etc of all the animals you see. There's a dolphin show, sea lions, birds of prey, parrot show and an aquarium including massive tortoises, alligators etc.

There are also massive swimming pools with slides, a mini roller coaster, waterlog flume, big wheel and eating places with bars. They must make a mint - always packed but you always get a seat too - there's aplenty.

Aqualand contains some brilliant slides including the Banzai where I nearly crapped myself but had to go on it to save face with my kids. It's almost vertical as you sit on the plastic board holding onto its handles for dear life, as the metal door releases you, you hurtle downwards and leave your voice at the top. The idea is the slide curves at the bottom and you've to skim across the pool to the end staying on your board - some make it - I don't.

There's jeep safari trips up into the mountainous forests of Monchique where the traditional natives live a primitive life amongst the olive groves and orange trees. Lunch included. A lot of it is bumpy, wet and off road - about 5 or 6 to an open backed jeep. Bring your sun cream to all of these - very open air - nowhere to hide.

Fatima trip to see where our lady allegedly appeared. Thousands pay a pilgrimage to it annually. Lisbon trip but it's far so never been.

Lagos (pronounced Lagosh) is brill and cape St. Vincent is the most Westerly point of Europe and very Moorish.

Passadiço de madeira na ria de Alvor

Um passadiço de madeira de quase três quilómetros de extensão está actualmente a ser construído na ria de Alvor (Portimão). A estrutura será concluída até ao Verão.

O passadiço, que será posteriormente prolongado até à praia dos Três Irmãos, faz parte de um plano mais amplo de requalificação da frente de mar. De acordo com a Câmara de Portimão, o plano contempla o arranjo do actual estradão, a criação de três bolsas de estacionamento com capacidade para aproximadamente três mil carros, a construção de um parque para autocaravanas e de uma estrutura de apoio a windsurf e kitesurf, a dragagem da ria do Alvor e a requalificação de todo o complexo desportivo local. No total, serão gastos cerca de 18 milhões, sendo grande parte do investimento suportado por privados com interesses turísticos na zona. O restante dinheiro é proveniente de fundos comunitários, do Estado e da Câmara de Portimão.

Costumo ir a essa praia.

Em relaçao ao novo passadiço, esta intervençao foi um modo de proteger as dunas e a reserva natural ali existente, pois antes qualquer um que tivesse jipe e ausencia de consciencia punha ali o carro.

…boa…Lampião…esse passadiço é no lado da Meia Praia…não é?…pois eu estive do outro lado aqui há uns 15 dias, e não vi grandes modificações…andam a urbanizar esta parte já há uns 2 anos…dei lá um salto há 2 anos e vi grandes vias abertas, mas ainda não havia construção…salvo o Golfe, que já tem uns anos…

O passadiço ficou muito bem de facto :yes:

Muitas praias têm vindo a ter passadiços desses... ficam muito bem inseridos.

Alguem vai a esta bela Vila durante as férias da Páscoa?

Há já dois anos que não vou lá nesta altura, e também não devo ir este... :bash:
