T1 was conceived as a folded glass plate, 188 meters high, cut by an arc on its north face. The distinctive profile changes according to one’s vantage point and assures the tower’s insertion within the surrounding context.
Seen from the south, the tower appears as a ship’s bow, a vertical element and a complement to the skyline of the La Défense business district.
Seen from the east and west, T1 is perceived as a large sail, its curving form providing transition to the lower scale of the adjoining neighborhood.
The image given by the north façade is one of a tall staircase, climbing to the sky and disappearing as the façade curves out of sight.The tower’s configuration provides large floor plates and panoramic views, associating spatial quality, efficiency and the latest building services.

The accommodation can be interconnected to provide 22,200m2, or divided into two separate buildings. The accommodation will be delivered to New Office standards.

Les Quatre Temps Shopping Centre in La Defense business district of Paris France was an international competition for the renovation/expansion of a project which will incorporate the four key elements of earth, water, air and fire as its graphic identity. These will be expressed with rich materials, colors, graphics, lighting and thematic details. This 1,800,000 sf project is extremely complex on many levels with multiple entrances which will provide a contemporary, modern and diversified new image. The overall $75 million scope will include expanded retail areas, new food court, relocated multi-plex cinema, extension to the facade and entry expansions, as well as expansion of several terraces and landscape features.

The CB16 Tower, built in 1971, is located in Paris' La Défense business district. The 27,000-square-meter (290,000-square-foot) building has been occupied since its construction by EDF and is currently the focus of a renovation project designed by the Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates architectural firm based in New York. Renovation work began in the second half of 2001 and will provide the CB16 Tower with a modern design and an internal organization optimized to meet the operational requirements of the current market in La Défense. The renovation is completed since december 2003.

BTW, some of the abstract renderings look much taller than the current tallest in the area. Are we to expect something bigger in the near future? It looks like we have a mature skyline for a couple of supertalls...

Yeah, La Defense has changed since. CBX is completed, so is Exaltis. Granite and T1 are advancing, Opus12 was renovated and Defense Plaza is over.

Now it's about AXA and Generali.

Anyone knows ..... the Tour Phare is scheduled for when?....

Only a little more than a year ago, I lived in Courbevoie, just next to the La Defense area. They had started construction on T1 and Granite, but you couldnt, for instance, see T1 from the Parvis. It would be interesting to see it now, when its close to completion and perfectly visible from below the Grande Arche. I understand that not everybody are so happy with the cladding though.
But I dont like Tour Phare, and I dont understand why they are putting it where they are doing. They seem to be blocking the open space, where the thumb is, that leads to the area on the other side of the train tracks. why are they cluttering up La Defense's open spaces, one of the greatest things about the whole area?
