Hey guys!

Do you ever use water bombers in your cities?

I have one in my main city but I dunno if its a bug. Basically, a fire breaks out in my industrial area in the southern part and my fire trucks are in the CBD in the Northern part of the city. My water bomber is located in the airport area across the bridge on the east side. So just for fun, instead of dispatching my fire trucks, I dispatched my water bomber. It got to the fire fairly quickly but instead of dropping water, it just flies around and around and around. Two factories are already engulfed in flames and exploded so I dispatched my fire trucks eventually. The fire is put out and the plane still keeps on flying around and around and around, now bumping through buildings. Got frustrated so I just tore down the airfield.

Has this ever happened to you? :?:

The air fields are useless. The closest I've ever got my water bomber to the fire is halfway down the runway... :D

Yeah often I tried to dispatch a water bomber just for the hell of it and it gets stuck on the runway. If I'm lucky, it will get to the fire 30 seconds later and drop water everywhere except for on the fire. The airfield also decreases land value around it so I avoid them.

Generally their only good purpose is that they can put out bushfires that have no road access but that is very rare.

I lost five powerstations because I had them on a island without any roads going to it. I thought my fireplane would do the job but it flew in circles above the small forest fire and stayed until it consumed all of my powerstations. I had to build a road and bridge out there and just as my fleet of fire engines got to the fire all my powerstations blew up.:bleep:
To add insult to injury the plane then dropped its water on the crater where my powerstations were.:ohno:

I have never had a problem with them. Then again, I only used them once and I got rid of them. A waste of space to have that huge plot of land wasted by that.

They are really not good for anything in the game, as of right now. The 'area' they conver should be about 4x what it is.

I don't get fires... just make sure your city is fire-protected.

Well, I finally was able to successfully use my water bomber to put out fires. My industrial area had another big fire so I simply went to the RH mission and flew the plane myself.

On a somewhat related topic, I notice sometimes when an aircraft returns to the helipad or airfield after a RH mission, it often tends to be positioned in a rather ugly manner. So to fix it, I simply went to the RH missions, picked the aircraft, free drive, and move it to the proper spot, then ESC.
