It just appeared there was no thread for projects in areas such as Cleveland and Carindale etc. Merge if you wish.

Carindale:

Both the Carindale buildings are part of the project called "Solito" next to Carindale Shopping Centre opposite the bus interchange.

Thanks for the pics Jesse.

The hotel on the left here has been taking shape in Buranda, like Carindale, v close to public transport.

It's great to see this scale of development happening in the suburbs. Sure it's not "high-rise", but it's providing a variety of dwelling-types in different areas, which creates diversity in the 'burbs. It also reinforces activity centres.

^^ And much of it is right next to PT. All the Cleveland developments are directly adjacent to the Cleveland train station. The Carindale developments are practically on top of the bus interchange. As noted by Aussie Bhoy, future development earmarked or Buranda will be very well served by PT.

Didnt know about these midrise projects out in the suburbs of Brisbane. I feel that I am missing something.

Nice to see some highrise starting to appear in Redlands. I am sure that within time, Cleveland can support 12 storey plus towers.

Unfortunately the new mayor of Redlands will never allow it. She has already restricted the number of new dwellings over the next few years by HALF. She said the following directly to my face: "If it's a choice between jobs or trees, then I'll take trees every time."

That's what you're up against...

Does she know the difference between Greenfield and Brownfield development. Because yes Redlands should probably stop all those farmers selling up their blocks to becoming housing estates down south of Redlands Bay. But redevelopment is an entirely different kettle of fish.

Well done Jesse, good to see the projects of the outer suburbs.

I think she needs lessons in realising that building upwards saves trees as less houses need to be built. The reality is that Redlands is not the rural area that it used to be and like the rest of Greater Brisbane, has to share the burden of urban development.

Many residents of Redlands are anti medium density developments. Many of my friends who lives in the area said to me that if I ever become a planner, never plan any medium density blocks in the suburb.

How is the Wynnum TOD going btw, any updates?

The have plans for office buildings, hotel, cinema, cafe precinct. Heights are around 6 stories. The application No. A00246087.

AJG sure pump out a lot of applications. I'm waiting for action!

I guess their Barracks site at Cannon Hill is going ahead. Still, Buranda Village, Southpoint, The Barracks and now this is a lot to have running at once.

Though I like the proposed development. It's quite close to me - should inject some welcome culture.

Damnit i missed this DA lodgement. I have been hanging out to see what would be proposed on both this site and the ex Hanger site across the road!
Though I really don't see how a decent hotel (not motel) would work this far out from the Airport or City.

I took a photo of one of the Port Central buildings going up at Port of Brisbane the other day. It looks like its up to about level 4 or 5. Its starting to make quite an impact. Would be nice to see a skyline out there.

The new Port of Brisbane control tower. Looks quite good as its basically a glass box. Sorry about the quality - phone + zooming right in.
