Tomb Raider May 6th, 2009, 11:41 PM Thanks Mohamed, I forgot to mention the slums which are the most important things. Also :
-Build a lot of skyscrapers of why not 50 floors and + (like in Madrid)
-Take into consideration a metro system.
-Take care of neglected zones
Perhaps in english, so more people can enjoy the Moroccan forums ;).
Feel free to express yourself as you want :)

1. Extend the tramway to Temara, Sala al Jadida, Ain Aouda, Tamesna and these sorts of places so it becomes almost like metro/light rail. (there is a similar concept here in the UK its called manchester METROLINK.
2. Build a train station in Hay Ryad and increase the frequency of trains going between Kenitra and Temara.
3. Encourage the developments of suburban areas (if number one is completed this may come automatically as people will find it easier to commute)
4. Allow the construction of midrise towers in hay ryad (glass please)
5. Regenerate the 'ville nouvelle' by renovating the apartments buildings and making them desirable to live in once again
6. Most shanty town in rabat have been taken care of but some illegal constructions still remain (like in takkadoum and yacoub el mansour). It would probably be a good idea to redevelop these areas and build more social housing. (This is probably the most important think IMO)

I'm not quite sure about this idea. The suburbia is the biggest mistake in planning cities because it is known as the greatest dislocation of resources in the history. And now, under the new economic crisis and the upcoming shortage of petrol it is better the concentrate the population in an area where they can live, work, and shop. Even the North American cities are starting now to encourage people to live near where they work or near a mass transit station.
ShinobiNYC May 7th, 2009, 07:15 AM - Revive the Derb Sultan area(the core of Casablanca IMO). Socially and economically
- More Parks and green spaces.
- Shopping areas closer to the middle class and the low class.
- Cut down on pollution.
- Cut down on street crimes.
- Fix the industrial areas of Znata and Ain Sebaa if not Mohammedia also.
- Clean the beaches.
- The areas of Houbous and Bab Marrakech need to have a major facelift, they look old.
- Try to cut down on people begging in the streets, buses,...etc. It's kinda embarassing and illegal especially for those who use children to help their needs.
I think that's all I'll add for now, you can use some for other cities like Kesh or Rabat btw.
Muttie May 7th, 2009, 10:55 AM For Casablanca:
- Provide more parking space for vehicles
- Removal of slums near the Hassan II mosque (they are near a tourist location!)
- Add more trash cans, fine people throwing stuff on the street.
- Restore the old colonial buildings, paint them - they are the pearl of Casa.
- Stop the sprawl and go up: Allow buildings to be as tall as the Hassan 2 Mosque.
For Tanger:
- More PARKINGSPACE! The city is very car-unfriendly, constant gridlocks.
- More traffic lights and public transportation can be way better.
- More greenery.
- Clean the beaches.
- Renovate the medina as quick as possible, it looks horrible.
- Maintenance in the new ville please!
Mister79 May 7th, 2009, 12:37 PM Casablanca needs better pavement just like European cities.
Renovation of all coloniale buildings.
More social appartements.
Renovation of the medina of Casablanca.
More parks, trees etc
Renovation of the poor neighbourhoods by building industry zones social and economic housing.

You are right, suburbs built in an american fashion are not sustainable. However, in Europe, many such developments are centered around efficient mass transit stations. We need to try to do something similar in morocco.
Slaoui May 8th, 2009, 09:29 PM Je dirais :
