View Full Version : SHIRAZ | Shiraz World Trade Center | 200m+ | 47 fl | On Hold
Shapoor May 9th, 2009, 12:59 PM Sharp Scifi Design For Shiraz
[Published on 11-05-2009 by Skyscrapernews.com (http://www.skyscrapernews.com/news.php?ref=2111)
Construction on the foundations is currently underway on the first ever skyscraper in the Iranian city of Shiraz with a design that wouldn't look out of place in Star Trek.
The project named the Shiraz World Trade Centre will stand at 47 storeys when complete taking it over the 200 metres mark - not a bad height for a first foray into the world of skyscrapers.
The project consists of two twin towers which rise from a rectangular shaped fully glazed, stepped podium, the sides of which gently slant outwards. The roof of the podium has a large water feature which runs between the towers as well as some greenery that edges the bases of the structure.
The towers themselves are sharply triangular in shape and rise upward to slanted peaks, one of which has a height-boosting spire attached to boost its height. Cladding the project are dark blue, glazed facades along with white accenting which emphasises the towers edges.
The other tower has a helipad protruding outwards from its peak that for any Star Trek fanatic may just put them in mind of the Starship Enterprise docking, for everyone else they may just think aliens have crashed into the towers.
Not only will helicopters be able to land on it but it will also be rented out for concerts and for those that can afford it, private events. The towers are joined near the peaks by a huge sky bridge that spans several storeys and will provide public recreational space.
The towers will be mixed use and consists of 4 storeys of parking space, 2 floors for office and residential lobbies, 2 administration floors, 4 public floors that will have fun stuff like recreational facilities, sports amenities as well as cultural attractions. 5 floors will be dedicated to commercial use while the remaining 30 floors will be split between grade A office space and luxury apartments.

brightside. May 11th, 2009, 08:50 AM Very original design! Although I'd be scared to play or watch a concert up on that helipad :shifty:
natasha91 May 12th, 2009, 09:50 AM The round balcony you have on roof top looks amazing.. I wish I could stand there and see the whole city.
Having dinner at that top would also be nice :)

I hope so too. If Farhangshahr towers get approved they won't be lonely.
not the only one! you have also Chamran grand hotel ;)
Chamran hotel is not over 200m but it can be classified as a highrise.

Aadil.Aijaz August 18th, 2009, 06:49 PM Great project! The foundations are huge. I've never seen such foundations anywhere.
Cheers!
Shapoor August 23rd, 2009, 02:56 PM The foundation is huge because the towers have a common base.

MissyC August 29th, 2009, 10:24 PM hmmm.... it misses something, I don't know... a beautiful location perhaps?! ... or is it going to ruin a beautiful location instead? the last one I suppose, as far as I am concerend, the town of Shiraz is a historic city within Iran's long history and such mish mash of a so called skyscraper (in fact it is just an highrise and not more) is not really beautiful. It looks like a very bad bad copy of Burj al Arab in Dubai

i think you are made some mistakes! this project is not a copy of al arab! "Bahram shirdel" the most iranian architect has been desinge this tower in 62 floor. also in project website said " 47 floor ". so after Milad tower this tower is highest tower in iran. do you think a tower in 62 floor is not skyscraper?
about beautifull place,it can say that the tower place is uniqe!beacause of this sit among ghasrodasht gardens in shiraz.this garden have global glory.

zhan.lisy September 2nd, 2009, 10:25 AM The biggest problem with Iranian people is that they don't know just how great their country can be
Rekarte September 2nd, 2009, 09:35 PM I thought it totally clashes with the region where it entered, did not like it, ugly way

they should fortify this building both against earthquakes and in case of emergency, the dictators can easily grab their belongings, money, gold and fly out of the city using the heli platform on top.
if a project as such is built across Iran, it won't be without a reason!

You can't be serious
Iran World Trade Center / Shiraz project is being privately setup by Mr. Mohammad Hassan Mohammad Pour Motlagh Azma, independent of any political and factional support.

MissyC September 10th, 2009, 08:21 PM like I know who the hell that guy is! ugly building, ugly design.
Shiraz beautiful, Persian art could have come with something really orignial projecting their own heart and ancient culture onto it. Not such an ugly boring massive Fort!
Shapoor October 5th, 2009, 11:11 PM So you just made a baseless observation just for the sake of bashing if I'm right... I think everybody understands you don't like the design and there is no need of unnecessary comments.

baigarman November 5th, 2010, 08:17 AM Thanks mate. New York City's amazing all of itself, but the view from the WTC was particularly special. I believe it was mostly offices, with observation areas for visitors, although I'm no expert, so there will be other people who can give more info than I can. Seems hard to believe it's 9 years today since it was destroyed, but I can still remember where I was when I saw the news. The buildings, and those who perished within them, will never be forgotten, that's for sure.
zwamborn November 5th, 2010, 04:45 PM On the Iran SSC-Page the Shiraz WTC is ON Hold
Shapoor November 5th, 2010, 05:04 PM It's on hold indeed. According to a member in Shiraz construction is expected to continue this autumn.

freddie_is_persian September 24th, 2011, 08:23 AM Steel ON HOLD!
sarbaze tabarestan September 27th, 2011, 10:46 PM Freddy what will happen to this. They have made so much work. Why ist this on hold?
Aerithia October 23rd, 2011, 10:58 AM Awesome! Finally a modern looking building in Iran, not one of these huge crappy stone ones you see nowadays :ohno:
For anyone wondering why it's still on hold it's cause there was some problems within the municipality from what i've heard, but i read that they've solved them so construction should be expected to continue soon.
