Post pictures  Oriolus May 11th, 2009, 08:13 AM Well I'll kick things off with my favourite park in Townsville, which is Queens Gardens. Its just so ridiculously...green :) Heaps of shady trees and tropical plants, some hedge mazes, some avaries. Once you step through the gates you feel so seperated from the surrounding urban environment. Heres a photo of Queens Gardens from Castle Hill (click to enlarge): http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3560/3520651697_44f5046568.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/29289211@N05/3520651697/sizes/o/) Liwwadden May 11th, 2009, 01:31 PM The Prinsentuin (=Prince' Garden). http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3503/3242595878_6b18fe22bd_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/liwwadden/3242595878/) It's my own shot. kazetuner May 11th, 2009, 09:01 PM Japanese Garden in Buenos Aires http://i44.tinypic.com/350mb9x.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/iw6kr8.jpg TampaMike May 11th, 2009, 10:03 PM Oh I like the Japanese Garden, so calming it looks. Just 180-km southeast of Manila in Atimonan, Quezon Province lies one of the most beautiful mountains in southern Luzon that has been declared a Game Refuge and Bird Sanctuary. The present area of the park is 984 hectares (4 sq. miles) with its highest point at 366-m above sea level. The park has an intricate system of caves, waterfalls, springs, creeks, gorges, and ravines set against a quaint backdrop of lush greenery. The park teems with flora and fauna, from butterflies to birds and monkeys tugging along their young while crossing the street. The trees are so tall and huge that they make the zigzag road darker than it should be. The park is also the site of Pinagbanderahan, where the Filipino Revolutionaries planted the Philippine flag in their fight against the Spanish colonizers. Quezon National Forest Park encompasses the western municipalities of Atimonan, Pagbilao, and Padre Burgos. It can be reached by walking for about one hour from the road to the top of a ridge. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/45/129359329_a8c69746ef.jpg?v=0 http://philippinenativeplants.org/site/images/samgallery/full/sam_full_10.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/1/129358874_3e7623b79b.jpg?v=1145291395 http://farm1.static.flickr.com/52/129359135_16f7f400d8.jpg?v=0 http://www.atimonan-quezon.com/images/ati_pinagbanderahan3.jpg http://agirlsnotebook.page.ph/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/qnproadview2-300x224.jpg http://k53.pbase.com/u32/jaizel/upload/41109694.QuezonNationalParkView.jpg erbse May 16th, 2009, 01:11 PM Marvellous parks everyone! They are located between the Avenues Général-de-Gaulle and Eperons-d'Or, they are an extension of the gardens of the Abbey of la Cambre. At the end of the first pond, the neoclassical façades with their triangular pediments are an original transition between the Chaussée d'Ixelles and the residential area of the ponds. On the side of the ponds, another scenery : the houses, built in 1870-1880 in an eclectic style and red bricks were designed by Victor Besme. We can also discover houses in a Flemish neo-renaissance style, art nouveau and art deco, with, as main representative, the building of the National Broadcasting Institute on the Place Flagey. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/ff/Ixelles_Ponds-South_Pond.JPG/800px-Ixelles_Ponds-South_Pond.JPG http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/photos/medium/10076982.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4b/Ixelles_Ponds-Ste_Croix_1.JPG/800px-Ixelles_Ponds-Ste_Croix_1.JPG http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2493/3795714515_531ace0d7e.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7c/Ixelles_Ponds-Flagey.JPG/800px-Ixelles_Ponds-Flagey.JPG http://www4.worldisround.com/photos/1/165/45.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p101/tictack_no1/screen-capture-16-6.jpg amigoendf March 17th, 2010, 01:54 PM Chapultepec Park in Mexico City http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/755/53132278.jpg http://www.chapultepec.org.mx/web2009/1secc/imagenes/puerta.jpg http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/963/imagen007ti.jpg http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/2359/16163331.jpg http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/5796/23320994362afb21685aolh9.jpg http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/2632/51806155.jpg ambiente2008 July 8th, 2010, 11:37 AM Lisbon, Portugal Eduard VII Park http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/9870/screenshot12mg.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/660/screenshot13ng.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/3849/screenshot14t.jpg http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff84/Pelha/3396130615_52121274a2_b.jpg http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/9721/img0427m.jpg http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/9185/img0440s.jpg http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/6166/img0449k.jpg http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/8529/img0451mz.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b91/latinohunk/15th/IMG_2961.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b91/latinohunk/15th/IMG_2962.jpg kjgkreek July 19th, 2010, 03:19 AM Kalemegan, Belgrade, Serbia old fortress, converted in park, with few museums. http://i.pbase.com/u35/vmarinkovic/large/31930756.Kalemegdan.jpg http://i.pbase.com/u35/vmarinkovic/large/31930756.Kalemegdan.jpgi http://www.traveljournals.net/pictures/l/13/135326-kalemegdan-fortress-belgrade-serbia-and-montenegro.jpg http://photos.travelblog.org/Photos/4939/140578/f/1007381-Stairway-at-Kalemegdan-0.jpg http://www.belgradeeye.com/images/dynamic/kalemegdan-beograd.jpg http://www.belgradeeye.com/images/dynamic/kalemegdan-at-night2.jpg http://sobreturismo.es/wp-content/uploads/kalemegdan-3.jpg http://cgi.di.uoa.gr/~harryk/photos/Boegrad_2.JPG http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/32/Vue_depuis_Forteresse_Kalemegdan.jpg Sorry on so many pictures, but this is just 20% or maybe even less of what you can see on Kalemegdan. The layout of the 19th century urban core is dominated by the so called "green horseshoe", a series of 7 parks and a small botanical garden. Here are some of them: 1. Zrinjevac is the most popular of the parks on the green horsehoe and the one closest to the main city square. It features 3 fountains, a music pavillon and numerous busts of famous Croats. The park is surounded by fine public buildings, including the Archeological Museum and the Croatian Academy of Arts and Science http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2425/3591061969_78b197a8d9_z.jpg?zz=1 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/liftboy/3591061969/) Zrinjevac_aleja platana (http://www.flickr.com/photos/liftboy/3591061969/) by liftboy (http://www.flickr.com/people/liftboy/), on Flickr http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3306/3591867748_7107020479_z.jpg?zz=1 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/liftboy/3591867748/) Zrinjevac_fontana (http://www.flickr.com/photos/liftboy/3591867748/) by liftboy (http://www.flickr.com/people/liftboy/), on Flickr http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3122/2562228328_1e77016356_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/indore1983/2562228328/) Zagreb, Zrinjevac (http://www.flickr.com/photos/indore1983/2562228328/) by indore1983 (http://www.flickr.com/people/indore1983/), on Flickr 2. King Tomislav Square is located on the SE edge of the horseshoe, in front of the Main Rail Station. Botanical gardens Small, but beautiful, Zagreb Botanical Garden (Botanički vrt) was founded in 1890 and maintained by the College of Natural Sciences. Its area covers 4.7 hectares and it was created as an English-style garden. The collection contains over 10 000 plant species of which 1800 are tropical plants from all over the word. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1277/727257033_f399b710f3_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/monsterinc/727257033/) Zagreb 050 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/monsterinc/727257033/) by monsterinc (http://www.flickr.com/people/monsterinc/), on Flickr http://farm1.static.flickr.com/107/258625799_0d4887387d_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/monsterinc/258625799/) Zagreb 045 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/monsterinc/258625799/) by monsterinc (http://www.flickr.com/people/monsterinc/), on Flickr http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3126/2830384283_69ef129704_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dpihac/2830384283/) Botanical-garden-10 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dpihac/2830384283/) by davor.pihac (http://www.flickr.com/people/dpihac/), on Flickr On the eastern edge of the city centre, approximately 2,7 miles from the main square, lies the large forest-park Maksimir. It was founded in 1787 by the bishop Maksimilijan Vrhovec and is the oldest public park in SE Europe ( although technically Zagreb belongs to Central Europe ). Bishop envisaged a French-style park with geometrical layout, but it was redesigned by the Bishop Juraj Haulik who created an English-style park of magnificant beauty, dubbed "Little Versailles" by the guests from Vienna. A ZOO was added in 1925. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4066/4239837480_88a6ac2d3f_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/17903031@N00/4239837480/) Maksimir Park IMG_2865 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/17903031@N00/4239837480/) by Bruce Aleksander & Dennis Milam (http://www.flickr.com/people/17903031@N00/), on Flickr http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3467/4002134468_1bb291432f_z.jpg?zz=1 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/strelar/4002134468/) Park Maksimir - Vidikovac (http://www.flickr.com/photos/strelar/4002134468/) by strelar (http://www.flickr.com/people/strelar/), on Flickr http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3252/2948254031_ce7cba08cd_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/23494733@N08/2948254031/) P1060084 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/23494733@N08/2948254031/) by Davor Curić (http://www.flickr.com/people/23494733@N08/), on Flickr http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3491/4080406136_b29cbc98bd_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/xeniazup/4080406136/) Statue in Park Maksimir (http://www.flickr.com/photos/xeniazup/4080406136/) by xeniazup (http://www.flickr.com/people/xeniazup/), on Flickr NYC007 June 9th, 2011, 06:04 PM :) japanese001 August 13th, 2011, 05:22 PM ★ Mizumoto park / Tokyo http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4127/5003927258_774ae25e51_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ayumit/5003927258/) green field (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ayumit/5003927258/) by ayumit (http://www.flickr.com/people/ayumit/), on Flickr http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4153/5032455905_b4d7094e73_b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jkaz_style/5032455905/) 都内のオアシス (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jkaz_style/5032455905/) by kzee.R (http://www.flickr.com/people/jkaz_style/), on Flickr balthazar November 16th, 2011, 08:41 PM Villa Borromeo park, Cesano Maderno (near Milan) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2004/2182018917_fb300ddccf_z.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/sandrovitiello/ http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2220/2182806126_3a7d43fc88_b.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/sandrovitiello/ http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5099/5578509721_fdf290fe91_z.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/albertodasiena/ http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5300/5578514545_ecaf1a1c54_z.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/albertodasiena/ Joseph85 December 6th, 2011, 06:13 AM Parque 9 de Julio Tucuman, Argentina http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/6641/dscn6897.jpg (http://img192.imageshack.us/i/dscn6897.jpg/) Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us) http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/5019/dscn6910c.jpg (http://img405.imageshack.us/i/dscn6910c.jpg/) Panorámica del Lago San Miguel http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/2636/panorama1cu.jpg (http://img69.imageshack.us/i/panorama1cu.jpg/) http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/6705/dscn3165q.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/225/dscn3165q.jpg/) http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/9240/dscn3172i.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/842/dscn3172i.jpg/) http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/4889/dscn3175j.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/171/dscn3175j.jpg/) http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/8405/dscn3178r.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/33/dscn3178r.jpg/) http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/4449/dscn3184k.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/687/dscn3184k.jpg/) http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/7397/dscn3186v.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/821/dscn3186v.jpg/) fordgtman1992 December 6th, 2011, 07:12 AM Portland Japanese Garden: http://blog.craigmitchelldyer.com/wp-content/gallery/photos/portland_japanese_garden_craig_mitchelldyer.jpg http://web.oregon.com/images/travel/jgarden400.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3183/2975466425_5ab0883b27_z.jpg http://www.portlandtravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/portland-japanese-garden-waterfall.jpg http://www.yougrowgirl.com/thedirt/wp-content/uploads/japanesegarden4.jpg Sarcasticity December 8th, 2011, 02:39 AM Portland Japanese Garden: Thats beautiful. zaguric2 December 10th, 2011, 02:43 PM Thats beautiful.
