A skyscraper like this should have its skeletons made out of steel. But the tower is really going to have its skeleton made out of reinforced concrete.
lymsissplaok October 1st, 2009, 04:11 AM Thank you so much for the post. It's really useful.
dreaad October 2nd, 2009, 11:01 PM preparatory works (24h/24 :) ) for the (deep) foundations (there will be 5 floors underground, to not rise to the height of the mole antonelliana)

(fabrizio) December 21st, 2009, 12:50 AM May I ask the mods why has this thread been moved in the "proposed" section? This building has been proposed and approved, calls for tenders have been made and construction's underway. If we'd love to be really pedantic, it wouldn't be "U/C" but rather "Prep".

the circular area will host the ramp which cars will use to reach the underground parking lot.
(fabrizio) February 2nd, 2010, 10:40 PM Our fellas went to the building sites, and posted on the Italian section some intriguing pictures, which are raising plenty of questions among us, let's see if anybody can give us a hand in understanding how they're planning to build this building.

As you might notice, they have been dismantling the cranes, and they're digging under the insole, while putting in place some pillars. Moreover, this steel pillar: what's its aim?

DiggerD21 February 3rd, 2010, 11:46 PM Looks like they are first building the underground levels starting at level -1, before starting with the overground construction.
The Europapassage (shopping centre smack in the city centre of Hamburg (9 levels above, 7 levels below the ground) was built this way to reduce construction noise and dirt.
davidallgayer December 9th, 2010, 12:45 AM :shocked:the design is incredible!
Why thank you very much. I can tell you that it was a bitch to design though, so I sure hope it stands up as planned!

normy89 February 5th, 2013, 07:00 PM Description:
Torre Intesa SanPaolo in Turin, Italy is a skypescraper, currently under construction, that will serve as the headquarters for the banking group Intesa Sanpaolo.
The Intesa SanPaolo tower will provide office accommodation for more than 2000 employees as well as providing leisure facilities for the general public. At its summit, a rooftop greenhouse houses a public restaurant, alongside a roof garden and a panoramic terrace that provides far-reaching views over the city. At its base, a 364 seat multifunctional public hall/auditorium is hung from the transfer trusses four stories above ground level.
Renzo Piano, Torre Intesa SanPaolo's architect, described the skyscraper as "bioclimatic building", being naturally ventilated and cooled; with a substantial amount of its power requirement to be generated from photovoltaic panels that cover the southern façade.
The Intesa SanPaolo tower is being built by the Italian main contractor Rizzani de Eccher and Swiss Implenia on an area of about 160 x 45 m between corso Inghilterra, corso Vittorio Emanuele II, via Cavalli and the Nicola Grosa Park.
The project was first introduced to the municipality in November 2007. After controversies on its height and the impact on the skyline, construction eventually started in December 2008.
