Silobygget
Sandnes - Norway

A proposed highrise in Sandnes, nabouring city to Stavanger on the southwestern coast of Norway. This is currently a 40m tall silo used for industrial purposes but a trio,
interiour architect Eiliv Skomedal, artist Per Odd Aarrestad and LINK signatur AS (http://www.link-signatur.no/)'s architect René de Groot wants to reconstruct this into a hotel or city hall with cultural usage
of international ambitions. The building will be 80m tall with 20 floors, twise the height of the current silo building. Its facade will have a twisting shape while there will be a
skybar in the 20th floor, with a observation deck on the roof.

They hope to have the building ready withinn 5 years if approvals are given.

It did`t take a long time before this project its got its own thread.

But it looks like a good idea, hope it gets approved. The surrounding area is getting more and more exciting, i am often in Sandnes too. By the way the large building right next to Silobygget is the new high school (http://www.aftenbladet.no/lokalt/sandnes/article1028665.ece),look at the 10 picture in my link.

^^ you mean the 10th picture right? Looking very good, remember the renderings! A highrise will fit right in, hoping for an approval too, this one is a great highrise project!

Industrial? Isn't it agricultural, i guess Felleskjøpet is into industry now-days... ;D

Makes me sad Sandnes wanted to tear down the silo, let's hope they change their minds, Sandnes has some of the most highrise-friendly statistics in the land, after approving Rundeskogen and Føniks ;) - But this one will really make an impact on this city, and frankly it deserves some, even tough it is a nice city that has undergone some real nice development the last few years, it's always in the shade of big-brother Stavanger! *crossing my fingers for the silo*

Politicians will give "the silo" a chance
(in Norwegian)

Silobygget i Vågen-området har svært få fans !i Sandnes-politikken, men nå er de folkevalgte villige til å vurdere på ny om betongkolossen skal rives eller bygges om.

I can't believe politicians dare to go onto someones downtown property dictate that this should be a park. That's not right at all!
