here are some of the pics i took when i went home a couple of days ago...

A view of Mt. Tagapo a.k.a. Bundok ng Susong Dalaga (because of its shape, not obvious from these picturs but if you'll look at it from afar, it really looks like a prom queen's breast)...

almost the ENTIRE Antipolo City is now covered with this crap.

http://i42.tinypic.com/25yumjc.jpg

edit: sorry for the large pic. :(

Antipolo City launches the Ecological Arts Festival (http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=468595&publicationSubCategoryId=79)
Updated May 18, 2009 12:00 AM

“Bamboo Bridge” by Zaldy Arbozo

MANILA, Philippines - The Siyudad ng Antipolo Art Guild (SINAG) in cooperation with the City Government of Antipolo, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Provincial Government of Rizal recently held the first-ever Ecological Arts Festival, coinciding with the Ang Tipulo Festival.

The first of its kind in the city, the main showcase is the art exhibition featuring the works of Antipolo artists, students of various elementary schools, and out-of-school youths.

The art exhibition was mounted at Dimasalang Park in downtown Antipolo. There were also workshops on sculpture, painting and installation art, as well as on-the-spot sketching sessions and artist forum on arts and environment.

SINAG is the result of the cooperation and enthusiasm of concerned artists in the city. It was through the likes of Rosie Gatlabayan, Armida Francisco, Genie Carlos, Hendrix Pereyra, Arnold Dominic Ty and Zaldy Arbozo who first interacted and were instrumental in the formation of a premier arts group in Antipolo.

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/4624/arts15b.jpg

But according to Zaldy Arbozo, current chairman of the guild, it was the young talents Cris Bernabe, Vincent Dinoso, Darren Huertas and Marlon Dizon who first approached him with an idea of putting up an arts club. Further consultation with the rest of the group and SINAG was formed in December 2003.

“This is just the beginning. SINAG is still in its early stage of developing into a fully efficient group,” says Arbozo. “We want this project to grow. We are very much grateful to the city government of Antipolo and the NCAA for their consistent support of the group in boosting people’s interest in the arts.”

For six years now, SINAG has consistently discovered more and new talents by providing competitions and workshops.

Its the new mayor's logo.

just another traditional politician hindi kasi alam kung ano talaga alam kung ano kailangan sa bayan just making his popularity grow

sana buhay pa si Vic :ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno:

Vic may have had the "superman logo" when he was alive, but at least he didn't litter them on ALL GOVERNMENT PROPERTIES.

Councilors Adiong Reyes, Cora Braga and Nixon are all from Cupang!!

May bahay kasi yan sila Bossing Adiong sa Kingvilles Subd. His daughter Abby was the SK President of Brgy. Mayamot and Ate Jing Reyes, a kagawad from Cupang.

^^ What does the logo mean?

whatever that means... thats a total ripped off of marikina citizen salakot with camisa de chino logo...:ohno:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n257/lehm08/symbol21-1.jpg
The City Symbol Design of Marikina
Parameter of Performance
The Marikina city Symbol focuses on the character of its people represented by a man wearing a “salakot” (headgear) and “camisa chino” (Chinese shirt) framed by an arch.
The “salakot” traces the man’s native origin, the “camisa chino,” his oriental character, and the arch framed his Hispanic past. The arched frame also represents the community and the limits of one’s individuality.

The faceless head personifies the individual who is one with his community, one who lived by the norms of good conduct (mabuting ugali), in harmony with his neighbor and one who gives honor to his community as he does to himself.

Discipline, Good Taste and Excellence are traits represented by the short buttons as one’s commitment to pursue with zeal and ardor.

The city symbol was designed by then Mayor Bayani F. Fernando.

Hi peeps, i'm new to this site as well as to this forum. It just caught my interest kasi may nagpost po dito bout sa Mission Hills. My wife an I plan to buy a unit there but would like to ask if anybody can provide me some feedback na latest about the said place specially Sta. Catalina kasi yun yung ineendorse samin. Can you guys help me with the following?

- Transpo to and from Libis, eastwood kasi ko nagwowork.
- Tricycles. Allowed na ba sa loob? If commute ako pano way papasok sa loob?
- Water distribution. may nagsabi samin dun malaki daw ang water bills kasi shared yung linya, is this true? Anong water service dito?
- Electricity, sa meralco pa rin di ba?
- How's the security sa loob ng subdivision? Anything notable (aside yung kay Marky Cielo before)?
- Cable channle provider and Internet, ano yung mga pede na. last post kasi sabi Dream lang kaso it was way back 2007 pa, any changes?
- Telephone line?

Sorry sa dami ng tanong ko. As you know naman it's not a simple investment, malamng lifetime ko na bayaran yan. Hopefully someone can shed light on this matter bago ko magcommit. Thanks guys!

maybe the others can answer this as well.

pero buong antipolo naka-meralco and yung water supplied by manila water. telephone line? mamili ka, may pldt, globe and digitel (by the gokongweis). may bayantel wireless din.
internet services? may pldt, globe, sun cel, smart bro. alam ko, walang sky internet sa antipolo kasi sa metro manila lang talaga sila. not sure about others.
cable? sky cable kami dito under the name "pilipinas cable." yun yung subsidiary niya sa antipolo and the rest of rizal, i think.
i just asked a friend regarding tricycles papuntang mission hills. eh they migrated papuntang US way back in 2003, sabi niya, di nga raw pwede sa loob. malayo ba house niyo sa gate? pero i asked another friend na may kapatid na nag-aaral dun. may shuttle daw from the gate.
commuting to libis? yan lang problema. kasi out of the way ang libis eh. may fx from antipolo going to either ayala, ortigas and cubao. so for you, sakay ka na lang ng ortigas/megamall/robinson/crossing na route, baba ka sa rosario, pasig or sa manggahan bridge or sabihin mo IPI, then mag-jeep ka papuntang cubao via libis. or kung gusto mo, magtaxi ka from those three points.

as for the security, i can vouch for it coz may dad is the president of the resident's association.

as for cable, tough luck. wala pa din. Dad is negotiating with sky and planet cable but they are not yet willing to invest. to make things complicated, Planet's franchise is only up to angono and mission hills is located in angono and antipolo.

and sorry to say, tricycles are not and will never be allowed to enter mission hills.

water service? prepare to shell out more than you pay before. our mothly bill exceeds 2k per month.

Telephone line, only digitel has facilities in mission hills, but you can always get a PLDT wireless land line and other provider like sun, globe and bayan.

1) Malabo syang tumakbong meyor; at

‘yan ang favorite color natin, for unity”.

as for the security, i can vouch for it coz may dad is the president of the resident's association.

as for cable, tough luck. wala pa din.

Telephone line, only digitel has facilities in mission hills, but you can always get a PLDT wireless land line and other provider like sun, globe and bayan.

hi Colonel Burger! thanks sa info, by the way san kayo sa mission hills, sta catalina kasi yung nakuha namin e, mukhang ig time tayo jan sa loob ah, nway hopefully one of these days mameet ka namin para mas magkaroon kami ng idea n g buhay sa loob (ng mission hills :) ) sana maging ok nga yung sacable kasi nakikita ko yung mga tao samin e naka dream pa din. nga pala yung rose paref ba exclusive for girlls o pede rin sa mga batang lalaki? thanks ng marami!

The posters announcing the construction of the multi-level parking near the Cathedral is all over the poblacion area. Anyone here aware on when the consruction will begin?

But in my own opinion, the lot where they will construct the building is better left open and make it an extension of Dimasalang Park.

Madaming bulok at dillapidated buildings sa antipolo na pwede ng gibain at pag tayuan ng parking building. yung mga small businesses behind City Hall, the City can purchase the lot behind, demolish the ugly buildings then build this car park.

This would teach the people to walk.

walang traffic because the area near the cathedral should be pedestrianized, re route traffic elsewhere. besides the vehicle noise, especially the tricycles ruins the sanctity of the area surrounding the cathedral.

if pedestrianization would not be possible, sidewalks should be widen, maybe at least as wide as the frontage of KFC in front of Cathedral. To renew the poblacion area, there would be a lot of building that would need to be demolished.

one building i'd love to see demolished is the one at the corner of oliveros street and ML Quezon, the one opposite of Mc Donalds.

I'd love to see Oliveros street, from the Capitol all the way to the Cathedral to at least look like Tomas Morato with Palm trees lining up the wide sidewalks. at the end of the street would be dimasalang park with a long dancing fountain all from the end of the former sumulong park up to the other end in front of the newly renovated front of the City Hall

I have so many idealistic dreams for the City, maybe I should run for Mayor someday.

BTW, its ACG vs. Naglilinkod ng Lubos for the mayoral race. LJ sumulong would just run for councilor. confirmed na yan.

this project will be BOT according to late mayor Sumulong ewan ko lnag kung ganun gagawin ni Mayor Nilo saka nagiba na ang Sumulong parkst i think tuloy na talaga dun kaya ok na din basta ma sulosyunan lang ang parking space dito

ganda ng idea mo tol..same tayo i have many ideas to make the City look good gusto ko din maging mayor...heheh joke sana nga Col. kaw na lang maging future mayor..hehehe

hope they would come up of that idea..kaya pala nagkalat na tarpaulin ni Nilo natatakot na kay ACG

Good Day Chris Nigel. I've been reading a lot of your posts and I must say, it's nice to know that there are people who knows how to spot real progress and development. Personally, I don't like politics, but what the late Mayor Vic Sumulong did for the city of Antipolo in the short period of time he was in position is transparent to the people. Hope to hear from you more. Keep up the good work

Anyways eletion na naman hope the next mayor will continue his plans or do better more than that kung may mas gaganda pa di ba.

Good day Chris. I live near Unciano. You know, everytime I pass City Hall it reminds me of Palma Hall in U.P. I think the City Hall was inspired by it. Besides, most politicians in Antipolo is from U.P. and Ateneo namely, the late Mayor, D.I.L.G. Puno and his brother to name a few. It's great to see Antipolo progressing further and for the better. I hope it doesn't turn on another direction.

Korean power firm explores RP projects (http://mb.com.ph/articles/232232/korean-power-firm-explores-rp-projects)

SEOUL, South Korea -- After initially keeping its eye on potential wind power development, Korea East-West Power Co. Ltd. (EWP) is exploring to expand investment foray in the Philippines to prospective mini-hydro and liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects.

In an exclusive interview, EWP president Gil Gu Lee disclosed that for the mini-hydro projects, the partnership may continue with Alternergy Philippines Holdings Corporation, a company chaired and founded by former Energy Secretary Vincent S. Perez.

“In addition to wind energy, we are looking for investments in mini-hydro with Alternergy,” he said.

The other investment area it is willing to pursue will be for LNG
facilities, especially for a project utilized for power generation; and EWP cannot also be left out on some fossil fuel-based power projects, primarily coal plants.

“Aside from renewable energy, we are looking for opportunities to invest in fossil fuel, like coal plants; and we are also looking for LNG power plant – either as investment or participation in the operation and maintenance (O&M) together with local partners in the Philippines,” Mr. Lee stressed.

As far as the wind projects are concerned, EWP is cornering majority equity of 45% in the corporate vehicle that will eventually bring the prospect wind farms to development. Another partner, Japan’s Eurus Energy will corner the other 45%, while local partner Alternergy assumes the minority stake.

But Mr. Lee credited Alternergy for steadfastly preparing the groundwork for such investment opportunity -- that when proven for commercial development may yield 260 megawatts of renewable energy capacity for the country.

Alternergy was the one awarded by the Department of Energy (DOE) with six service contracts to conduct exclusive wind assessment/studies in areas such as Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, Mindoro, Rizal and Laguna.

Cuerpo remains suspended - Palace (http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=530947&publicationSubCategoryId=67)
By Marvin Sy (The Philippine Star) Updated December 10, 2009 12:00 AM

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang clarified yesterday that Rodriguez, Rizal Mayor Pedro Cuerpo is suspended while his case is still being studied.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita confirmed Cuerpo’s claim that an order for a stay of the suspension order issued against him by the provincial board of Rizal had been issued but this was never implemented.

“From what I recall there was a stay order that I signed but that stay order was not implemented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government. It was returned here for some legal reason and so it was not served officially,” Ermita said.

“Therefore, for all intents and purposes, Mayor Cuerpo is suspended according to the Sangguniang Panglungsod’s action,” he added.

The stay order was issued in April last year, two months after the provincial board of Rizal implemented its suspension order against Cuerpo.

Vice Mayor Jonas Cruz was designated as acting mayor but Cuerpo refused to step down because of the stay order from the Palace.

Tension erupted again in Rodriguez town when police, acting on the instructions of the provincial board, prevented Cuerpo from entering the mayor’s office.

Cuerpo said he would not leave the town hall until Malacañang issues a clarification on the issue.

Ermita said Cuerpo’s case is now being reviewed by the deputy executive secretary for legal affairs and that a ruling would be handed down soon.

“Any day they might come out with a position so that we do not have to entertain anymore whether he can stay or cannot stay but depending on the deliberation on the merit, a decision will be announced by the Office of the President,” he said.

“So in short, he is suspended, he remains suspended,” he added.

The Rizal provincial board suspended Cuerpo for illegally raising the fees for Metro Manila garbage haulers in order to dump garbage at the Rodriguez sanitary landfill.

'House of Santa' in Antipolo City attracts tourists

http://www.pna.gov.ph/images/Santa.jpg

NTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Dec. 19 (PNA Features) -– Local residents and tourists alike are crowding a house in this city to view over 2,000 images of Christmas Santa Claus in every imaginable size and configuration.

Local government officials said the house is called Casa Santa, a museum dedicated to Santa Claus.

Visitors are awed with the huge collection of a woman whose real name is Edna del Rosario, but likes to call herself Auntie Santa.

Casa Santa is at Jardin de Miramar on 276 San Jose Extension, Barangay San Isidro. It’s near the Antipolo Cathedral.

Del Rosario said she collects everything that carries the Santa theme and she’s exhibiting them in a house dedicated to her favorite Christmas symbol.

Historians said the original Santa was St. Nicholas or St. Nick, patron saint of children. He was a 4th century Christian bishop of a Byzantine province in today’s Turkey.

Santa loved children and brought them gifts on Christmas Eve. In many parts of northern Europe, Santa is still portrayed as a bearded bishop in canonical robes.

Through time, Santa has been depicted in various ways from tall and gaunt, to wearing a Norse huntsman’s animal skin, and to being an elf himself.

The modern Santa is a combination of all these depictions. His most enduring physical description, however, was created by the great American caricaturist Thomas Nast whose January 3, 1863 edition of Harper’s Weekly gave us the image of Santa Claus as we know him -- a jolly and plump white bearded man in a red coat with a white collar.

The image stuck and was further spread worldwide by Coca-Cola in its advertisements every Christmas.

With the help of television, the role of Nast has all but been eradicated. This year marks the 78th anniversary of the Santa-Coke partnership which started in 1931 when he appeared in magazine print ads for the soft drink company.

People sees the new Coke commercial already being aired on TV here and we’re left wondering who represents Santa as far as royalties are concerned.

Not a few decry what has evolved into a completely commercialized figure, mostly in North America. This has even spawned books on the dangers of propagating his existence.

Does a threat really exist? When we outgrew the ritual of waiting for Santa, we didn’t feel any resentment towards our mother for this "falsehood."

Neither apparently does this lady whom everyone only knows as Auntie Santa, who has been running the year-round Casa Santa and keeping many children happy.

It was Auntie’s friend, the late artist Aleli Vengu, who influenced her to start the collection. She has traveled to 63 countries in search of Santas. She even found one in Buddhist Myanmar, a heavenly god dressed like Santa complete with cap and beard.

At least 60 of her now “2,513 and still counting” Santas were found in the Philippines, especially the large ones which would have been very difficult to ship. The United States is her next big source.

Rothenburg, Germany is also Auntie’s favorite Santa shopping place. The walled medieval city with cobblestone streets hosts the German Christmas museum, operated by Kathe Wohlfahrt of the international chain of year-round Christmas Village shops.

Auntie says she will soon try to make it to Rovaniemi, capital of the Finnish Lapland in the Arctic Circle. This is the only official post office of Santa where postcards can be sent for this Christmas or even the next.

In her collecting binges, Auntie has gone from the cheapest P50 paper cut Santa bought in China in 1990 to her most expensive, a Swarovski purchased at Schipol Airport in Amsterdam.

The collection is varied, from Santa blankets to life-size moving Mr. and Mrs Santas singing Christmas carols.

A crowd favorite is the chessboard under the Santa on his sleigh mural by artist Alfred Galvez.

There are other items especially made for the collection -- the Bomb toy collectible head mounted on a sculptured brass body of Santa by artist Michael Cacnio.

Auntie is now into Precious Moments porcelains and has also started collecting Christmas Villages. She estimates the entire collection to be worth P5 million. Yet even if Santa’s house and all its contents are insured, there is nothing that would sufficiently pay for the time and trouble of searching for every item.

And because Santa’s house is open to everyone, especially children, there is no way anyone can completely monitor the whereabouts and activities of each and every kid on the floor.

House rules are imposed. Food and drinks, bulky containers, video cameras are not allowed inside Casa Santa.

The Santas are very accessible so one cannot really avoid damage and even pilferage. Auntie Santa refuses to encase her Santas in glass which would project the feel of a traditional museum.

There are around 100 more Santas awaiting their special nook which Auntie promises will come in 2010.

Obviously, the legend of Santa will evolve as the years go by. He will soon discard his reindeer coach, even trade it for a space train.

He may likewise go on a vegetarian diet to keep healthy for his yearly Christmas jaunts around the world. He may even schedule a stopover at Auntie Santa’s Casa Santa for a photo op and make the kids ecstatically happy! (PNA Feature)

Cityhood eyed for Taytay, Cainta towns

By DJ Yap
Philippine Daily Inquirer - 01/05/2010

RIZAL GOV. Casimiro Ynares III has said he would push for the conversion of Taytay and Cainta towns into cities within the year in the wake of a Supreme Court decision favoring the conversion of 16 municipalities into cities despite not meeting the income
requirement.

He said he would back the application of the two towns, noting that they actually meet the annual income requirement of P100 million.

But Ynares said the application for cityhood of the two cities would also depend on the outcome of the local elections, assuming that the elected representatives and executives would favor it.

He added that he respected the decision of the Supreme Court that reversed its previous ruling declaring as unconstitutional the cityhood of 16 municipalities because they did not meet the income requirement.

The towns were Batac, Ilocos Norte; Baybay, Leyte; Bayuga, Agusan del Sur; Bago, Cebu; Borongan, Eastern Samar; Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte; Carcar, Cebu; Catbalogan, Samar; El Salvador, Misamis Oriental; Guihulngan, Negros Oriental; Lamitan, Basilan; Mati, Davao Oriental; Naga, Cebu; Tabuk, Kalinga; Tandag, Surigao del Sur; and Tayabas, Quezon.

Based on government records, the towns generated incomes ranging from only P7.5 million (Lamitan town) to P56 million (Naga town).

Should the cityhood application fail, Ynares said he would push for the redistricting of the province to give it more representation in Congress and consequently more funds for local projects.

Based on the initial proposal, two districts will be added to the current four districts. (Antipolo City has two districts.)

Ynares said the first district would be composed of Taytay and Cainta; Angono, Binangonan and Cardona would make up the second district; the third district would be composed of San Mateo and Montalban while the remaining towns would make up the fourth district.

Hi Folks! I do enjoy reading your arguments and answers to several questions posted. This is my first time to log in and post this message although have been reading your threads since I came across your site. I also live in Rizal province and prefer it here rather than elsewhere. Am also a voter here. So what now, who should we vote for the province in the coming election? Although I am not a new voter, neither a regular voter in the past ( I hate elections, you know), I am thinking of trying again this time but after reading all your arguments from all sides. Sayang din naman boto ko, di ba? Thanks pipol!:ohno::dunno:

Thus, more infrastructures will be built and ultimately as infrastructures are built, constructions will boom giving more jobs to people. But hopefully not at the expense of destroying the scenic spots and nature rich ambiance of our province.

sana kung gusto nila umunlad ang rizal.. ipa improve nila ang mga kalsada going in and out of rizal :)

I think the C-6 project lost in southern part of rizal near laguna bay..

Finally, Antipolo will now have its own SM Mall. Congratulations City of Antipolo

(The Philippine Star) Updated February 05, 2010 12:00 AM

MANILA, Philippines - SM Prime Holdings Inc., the country’s largest retail chain, will start the construction of its planned shopping mall within the 240-hectare South Road Properties in Cebu in 2012, according to a top company official.

SM Prime chief financial officer Jeffrey Lim said the shopping center will have a gross floor area of 250,000 square meters, making it the biggest retail complex in Visayas and Mindanao. The shopping mall would be a smaller version of the 60-hectare Mall of Asia complex along Roxas Boulevard.

SM Prime has committed to invest at least P20 billion over a 15-year period for a mixed-use development project at SRP which will include a convention center, hotels, high-rise residential condominiums, school and a hospital.

The company has offered to acquire a 28-hectare property within the SRP for P11,000 per square meter or nearly P3 billion. The SRP is a land reclamation project by the Cebu City government.

Aside from SM Prime, Filinvest Land Inc. is also developing 50.6 hectares of the SRP into a mixed-use complex. The project will be developed in four phases over a 20-year period with FLI contributing the development costs as well as the marketing and management services.

SM Prime is spending P12.1 billion this year for the opening of five new malls nationwide and one in China. Slated for opening this year are Calamba, Laguna; Masinag, Antipolo; Tarlac; Novaliches and San Pablo, Laguna which will provide a total of 279,228 square meters in gross floor area.

Three new malls in China – Chonggqing, Suzhou, and Zibo – are targeted for opening between 2010 and 2012. This will add to its three existing malls - SM Xiamen, Jinjiang and Chengdu.

SM Prime expects to have a total of 41 malls by end-2010 with total gross floor area of 4.5 to 4.8 million square meters. Its malls currently have a foot traffic of over 2.5 million per day. – Zinnia dela Peña

Hindi lang sa Masinag ang SM.... I have 1st hand information..... yep hindi siya galing sa isang reliable source. for some reason I have direct access sa information....

I was eating lunch, well not actually lunch because it was a just a snicker bar.(I was hungry so I grabed a Snicker....) well not actually hungry... because I knew it was a top honcho from SM having a meeting with my dad in our house, I can't resist to eves drop. the meeting is about a negotiation by SM for a specific lot in Barangay San Roque. Its a 3 hectare lot along circumferential rd. To be specific, its across Bahay Handaan near Unciano Medical Center and is owned by the O'hara family of Antipolo. Apparently, the said lot is also being eyed by PureGold, and SM wants to beat PureGold for the lot. SM plans to build something to compete with Shopwise, so if its Shopwise they are targeting, it must be a Hypermarket they are planning to put up. But I think 3 hectares is too big for a stand alone Hypermarket..... so if SM outdoes PureGold for this specific vacant lot, there is a big chance that a small SM would stand there, probably an SM Supercenter pero sana complete SM para may department store, at SM cinema.

Now this could be the reason why its SM City Masinag.... because SM City Antipolo will rise in Upper Antipolo

lets all cross our fingers. Hurray for another SM mall in Antipolo!

:?How about the lot opposite the warehouse of Shopwise where an old bungalow house stands and several fruit trees grow on its front yard, are there no takers like Puregold, or SM or Robinson? That would be a good place for them to build their commercial buildings better than that at Unciano's. Why not Waltermart or Makro or other foreign named markets...What the heck with them... :bash::wallbash:

How I wish and pray that as those commercial centers keep on expanding, MORE PARKS AND ECO-RECREATION CENTERS are built, Carbon sinks are maintained (if there are any), and ecologically balanced- environment friendly areas are established where families and friends can gather together for games, bonding, celebrations without the outward commercialization/expensive spendings that those malls virtually demand. hay naku... tama bang congratulations antipolo ang sasabihin natin considering the extent of environmental ripping off of Antipolo's natural landscape? answer me...:ohno::blahblah::no:

That part of antipolo is the urban part of antipolo. You want a rural landscape? go to Boso-boso.

BTW, Makro, owned by SM is dead. SM is slowly rebranding some of the Makro stores into SM Hypermarket. The concept of warehouse shopping is no longer viable in the Philippine setting. Plus maintaining different brands is costly.

nope hindi pa nila nabibili. A very close person to me is a friend of the O'Haras and the Top Honcho from SM. He is helping out both parties to ink the deal.

personally, I'd rather have it as an SM rather than a PureGold. PureGold can locate at the For Sale lots beside Emraud Plaza also along Circumferential. They don't need a 3 hectare lot.

Totoong may SM Masinag, but the plans in wikipedia are inaccurate. wishful thinking at best.

the SM in masinag will not be as big as stated from Wikipedia, given the proposed lot beside Super 8 is small for a big mall.

I guess it will only be around 60,000 Sqm floor area. The rendering above shows its similarities with SM rosales and baliwag

Yup. I saw this bakod this afternoon on my way home from makati. The all too familar blue fence of SM is up. although wala pa logo ng sm sa bakod, at one part of the wall, a part of the "SM" logo can be seen.

I guess they will repaint the whole fence and paint the SM logo.

Update sa Unciano vacant lot, SM backed out because the entrance to the lot is too small and what they really want is just a Savemore so they are targeting the lot beside santiago furniture and or the vacant lots at the corner of Sumulong Highway and Circumferential Rd. near Hinulugang Taktak.

5th Calabarzon OTOP Congress up in Antipolo (http://www.pia.gov.ph/?m=12&fi=p100224.htm&no=24)

by Charlie S. Dajao

Calamba, Laguna (February 24) -- The Province of Rizal, in earlier times called the Province of Tondo and the Province of Manila, and home to the SuMaKaH and Higantes Festivals, will host the 5th Calabarzon OTOP Congress on March 2.

This year's regional congress, themed "Otop Gains, Calabarzon Reigns", will be held at the Ynares Sports Center in scenic Antipolo City.

The congress will celebrate the gains of OTOP in the 5 provinces of the Calabarzon Region as well as provide a venue to continually harmonize the various activities of the different stakeholders towards a unified OTOP program in Calabarzon region.

It would also be a venue to showcase and expose the region's OTOP products and services to new and wider markets through an exhibit and trade fair.

The event would also celebrate the transfer of the Rizal Provincial Capitol from Pasig City to the City of Antipolo as Rizal's seat of government and capital of the province.

Governors Rosa Vilma Santos-Recto of Batangas; Ayong Maliksi of Cavite; Teresita S. Lazaro of Laguna; Rafael Nantes of Quezon; and host Governor Casimiro 'Jun-jun" Ynares III will lead the expected 1,000-plus participants of the congress.

Progress and milestones of the OTOP program in its 5 years of implementation will be delivered by the respective governors of the Calabarzon provinces.

At the Ynares Center grounds, an exhibit and trade fair will be presented to continually promote and expose Calabarzon OTOP products and services with the goal of preparing the entrepreneurs to be competitive in the domestic and international markets.

Moreover, companies and firms participating under the Diskwento Program will join the trade fair selling basic commodities at discounted prices.

Providing entertainment will be a competition of cultural presentations among delegates of the region's 5 provinces.

More than a thousand participants are expected to participate in the congress including officials and representatives of local government units (LGU), the business sector and chambers of commerce, cooperatives, government financial institutions, government line agencies, and other guests.

The 5th Congress is a collaboration between the Rizal Small and Medium Enterprise Development (RISMED) Council chaired by Governor Casimiro A. Ynares III; the Rizal Provincial Government; business and sectoral organizations (PCCI-Rizal, REMAI, ROAR, PAFCI, LMP-Rizal); the academe (University of Rizal System and HEAR), as well as non-government organizations (NGO) and cooperatives, the Rizal Provincial Office of the Department of Trade and Industry, and other national government agencies and NGOs implementing entrepreneurship programs in the province.

The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, a non-stock, non-profit organization that advocates Go Negosyo nationwide, also renders strong support to the congress.

The Rizal hosting will complete the rounds of provincial hosting of the OTOP congress. Previous OTOP congresses were held in Sta. Cruz, Laguna (2006), Batangas City (2007), Lucena City (2008), and Tagaytay City in 2009.

The congress serves as venue where stakeholders discuss topics to build capabilities of the entrepreneurs; present achievements, issues and concerns; share learnings and experiences; renew commitments; and showcase the competitive edge of the towns and cities in the region.

OTOP, or the "One Town, One Product" program is a concept and strategy to develop local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in towns, cities, provinces or even regions possessing a strong domestic product base with local ingenuity and skills to be globally competitive consequently bringing out the prominence and uniqueness of each locality, or vice-versa. Passed by SM Masinag area. sa fence may sign na nakalagay. the sign says that SM Prime has secured permits from the DENR for the remoal of trees in the area. the sign also says that the project name of the construction is "SM Center Masinag" hmm... from SM City it was demoted to an SM Center.

pero may tarp sign din on the other end of the fence which says "SM City Masinag"". Will they make up their mind! :)

passed by taytay din kanina. there are heavy equipments moving some earth on a vacant lot besides Building B of SM City Taytay, are the rumors true that it will be for the construction of the Annex of SM City Taytay?

Also in wikipedia, is it true that there will be a Robinson's place Taytay?

With all honesty, I feel that the location of that building is Stupid. That area is better converted into an extension of Dimasalang park.

And IMHO, its too grand. they can construct steel parking areas similar to Greenhills and Eastwood. It would be cheaper and practical. besides, the intent of the parking building is to park cars and not to be tourist attrations.

We were visiting Antipolo last year and afterwards started heading back to our hotel next to Robinson's Galleria. There was a mall that appeared to be closed down on the right side of the road (heading back towards Quezon City) going down a hill on the Ortigas Extension a short way before it ends at an intersection where you could turn right to go back towards Manila or left to go to Taytay. I think there might have been a dimsum restaurant at the mall when it was open. I am very curious what the name of this mall was and if anybody can share its history or has any memories of going there. Thanks for your help.

it isnt a mall (a small commercial center maybe), but was once a Rustan's Fresh Supermarket. It also had an abenson's(?) appliance store, a gym, and some (dimsum) restos.
After some time, they closed down- since Rustan's opened the bigger Shopwise Antipolo and was replaced by another supermarket- Home Sweet Home -which later, also closed down.

yung sa Masinag kasi is just beside the future MRT-2 station kaya dun nagtayo ng mall ang SM (although lumubog sa Ondoy yung area na yun dati).

Don't worry...with SM's target of about 5 malls per year. Binangonan might not be far behind, hehe. Seriously, Binagonan still falls under the influence area of SM Taytay so there won't be an SM there anytime soon. I say "still" because who knows...maybe populations continue to increase and the demand there will eventually attract an SM or Robinsons. SM Masinag makes sense because of the LRT 2 extension. This will be a full mall and not like a Supercenter.

The Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Headquarters and Manufacturing plant where they build the L300 FB, L300 Versa Van, Pajero Field Master and Adventure is more than sufficient to make Cainta richer than Taytay even if Cainta does not have any malls to boast. but fortunately, cainta can boast 2 malls. Sta. Lucia and Robinson's plus a very large Makro.

another contributer to Cainta is BF steel owned by Bayani Fernando

In its wikipedia entry, notice that in 2007 Cainta ranked 2nd only to Cabuyao in terms of income for municipalities. It earned PHP 490M. Taytay wasn't far behind at #5 and PHP 410M income. These two deserve to be cities. Wala bang initiative from the LGU's or Rizal provincial government?

It is going to be a full mall with 4 theaters that they are constructing there. The cinemas distinguish the full malls from the super centers. SM Masinag will be smaller than Taytay because of its proximity to SM Marikina. Add to this news I got that WalterMart is acquiring the land beside SM Masinag.

I noticed last May 1, 2010 around 2am there are a lot of people marching along Ortigas ave ext., going to Antipolo.

And all of them are in barefoot!
who and what are they doing ???

It is going to be a full mall with 4 theaters that they are constructing there. The cinemas distinguish the full malls from the super centers. SM Masinag will be smaller than Taytay because of its proximity to SM Marikina. Add to this news I got that WalterMart is acquiring the land beside SM Masinag.

SM Supercenter Valenzuela has cinemas

Antipolo now is mismanaged by the new Mayor...Gatlabayan should not be blame for that..:ohno::ohno::ohno:

Leyble should not be blamed. He is only mayor for only about a year after Sum,ulong who just became mayor for only 1.5 years as well. before all of that, Gatlabayan was mayor for 9 years. yung mga problema ngayon came from the problems not solved by his administration.

because ang alam ko, yung original charter na pinasa for the cityhood ng cainta is that cainta will be a highly urbanized city which will be independent from the province of Rizal. Remember, Rizal already lost a lot when Metro Manila was carved out of Rizal Province.

Actually, Cainta is really qualified to become a Highly Urbanized and independent city, the same goes for Taytay and Antipolo and to some extent, San Mateo and Binangonan.

It's quite interesting that along Sumulong Highway, you know you're near Antipolo or have crossed the boundary from Marikina when traffic becomes more chaotic and there are significantly more informal settlers along both sides of the road. LOL

Facts? well. simple lang naman. Who was the mayor of antipolo since 1998-2007? it was Gatlabayan.

Sumulong's 1.5 years in office is not really enough to make a difference and so is Leyble's 1.5 years.

Meron.

QUESTIONS:

Noong mayor pa si ACG he converted the Pinugay from agricultural land to Industrial zone for future business park..dito sa bayan wala ng pag asa kaya he plans to build the new Antipolo doon kasi malaki ang potential nung lugar na yun...

The wet season is here. Do Antipolo, Cainta and Taytay have any plans or programs regarding the possibilities of flooding once the typhoons arrive? I'm assuming that this was an issue in the mayoralty races in these LGUs considering the impacts of Ondoy and the probability of a repeat this year.

Ripraps to save village from sinking :ohno:
Manila Standard Today - June 8, 2010

At least 2,000 residents in Cainta and those of neighboring Pasig City fear for their lives if collapsed ripraps remain unrestored and they get caught in a catch basin as the typhoon season sets in.

A Village East Executive Homes official has called on the provincial government of Rizal and the Department of Public Works and Highways to put up the retaining walls swept away during the onslaught of Ondoy in September last year.

Association president Daniel Rafael Prats urged the DPWH-Manggahan Floodway office in Rosario, Pasig to hasten repair particularly near the Bulao River near the boundary of Antipolo City.

“I was in my house when the flood happened and saw the rampaging water down the Village East Avenue as high as 20 feet, I couldn’t do anything but to save my family first,” he said.

He said the topography of the place somewhat formed a catch basin, which explained why the inundation happened fast.

Underscoring the role of ripraps as the village’s first line of defense, Prats said he has called on floodways chief, Engr. Patrick Gatan and Re-elected Governor Casimiro Yñares Jr. to rebuild them before storms arrive.

Delia Bucton said the family bungalow went underwater in 30 minutes of downpour.

“I the sala set, washing machine, chairs carried through the flood while the concrete wall of my neighbor collapsed,” she said, joining the pleas of homeowners for prompt action to save lives and property. Gigi Muñoz David
