Am I misunderstanding, or is the price of real estate in Eilat much lower than in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv? If so, why?

Much Much Much Lower!!!
I think you can get villas in Eilat...with Pool in the backyard for like 120 USD.
Infact, alot of Israeli families who are wealthy, but not that wealthy..just high-middle income...tend to buy an apartment in Eilat. Much like they buy a cottage in Europe or the US...
They use it for the holidays and weekend gateaways since its only a 7 hour drive which is not that far...
Most of the year they simply rent it out to people or give it to their kids whenever they want/needs it.
Which makes perfect sense, cause you rent it out to people in the winter/fall/spring and in the summer where its hot..the kids come and crash the place and work in Eilat. They usually are lenient to students working there and would love their services since there is promenade shpping and eilat malls and most of it doesnt charge Tax (VAT - anyone can confirm that?)
Yoav.de86 June 17th, 2009, 07:28 AM there is no VAT in Eilat... so it a little cheaper. most of the business here rising the prices so it will fit Jerusalem and Tel Aviv...
you don't really want to retire in Eilat... it's a ghost town in the winter, and hell in the summer...
Kappa21 June 17th, 2009, 08:31 AM there is no VAT in Eilat... so it a little cheaper. most of the business here rising the prices so it will fit Jerusalem and Tel Aviv...

The houses in Eilat are very nice and also creative, compared to the other places...
but yea.... it is a ghost town..nothing to do...
in the summer the population goes to 70,000 with the guests..and in the winter it drops down to 30,000....
I dont think you will expect any sort of winter in Eilat. Usually in the mid 10's.
Most people who live there work in the tourism sector or the export business..some work in customs. There is also a branch in the Ben Gurion University there. A few schools, synagogues, cemeteries
Urban Legend June 17th, 2009, 12:29 PM i was there in the winter and it's far from being ghost city.
actually, i really enjoyed of Eilat in the winter. not too many people, not too many school kids who's doing mess but still not a ghtost city, you don't have to stand in the line for an hour to get into some attraction. it's great!
from now on im going to Eilat only in Winter.
Kappa21 June 17th, 2009, 06:59 PM WHat winter? you cant go in the sea in the winter.
Your nuts will freeze like kinder surprises :D
What is there to do in the winter? go to King David City? :?
Yoav.de86 June 17th, 2009, 07:15 PM the Red sea is very special... it keeps the same warmth (28 degrees Celsius) all the time. never changes
and it called Kings city... which is very stupid
I do June 17th, 2009, 07:17 PM I know a few local places that are nice to go to if your looking for a nice meal or a drink. I always go to Eilat in the winter. there's more room on the street and more room in the sea for scubadivers.
dwdwone June 18th, 2009, 06:46 AM I'm used to hell in the summer. I've lived in Texas for the past 30 years.

There is a religious vibe i get when i went to Kings City. Its kinda cheesy and i dont know if it will survive...
Did anyone see the master plans with Eilat..
It looks very promising...more tourist areas and more things to do. The warmth of Eilat is insane....infact..its dangerous to be out in the sun like that...
None the less, i personally like Eilat.
Anyone seen this guy with no legs and arms? pegging for money in Eilat? :? I dont know why but i always see him...and i dont think he lives there.
I know a few local places that are nice to go to if your looking for a nice meal or a drink. I always go to Eilat in the winter. there's more room on the street on more room in the sea for scubadivers.
I wouldnt mind going for a gate-a-way. Im sure most Israeli companies let their employees fly for a weekend-gateaway to Eilat in the winter time...something like in Hannucka.
Question is..can you be in a bathing suite? can u get a tan? :? The weather is as hot as say Riyadh or even...Kuwait City?
I'm used to hell in the summer. I've lived in Texas for the past 30 years.
:) Well your all set to go to Eilat.
Howd' Mutha Fucka ;)
I was looking at some places w/ pools. Villas...nice and new...usually starts at the 300's.
Some are over the million mark....
:) need a Real Estate agent?
Yoav.de86 June 18th, 2009, 07:49 AM There is a religious vibe i get when i went to Kings City. Its kinda cheesy and i dont know if it will survive...
it's more like a brainwash for kids... when i was there, i felt like this place is to take kids to spend your money in for no reason... everywhere i went there was this TV with stupid kid songs about King Solomon to brainwash the kids.
Did anyone see the master plans with Eilat..
It looks very promising...more tourist areas and more things to do. The warmth of Eilat is insane....infact..its dangerous to be out in the sun like that...
i haven't seen the plans... all i know is that they want to move the airport into the land, and build instead more hotels...
i also heard about a Disneyland idea 10/15 years ago... but i guess it was canceled.
Elkhanan1 June 18th, 2009, 11:42 PM They need to expand the lagoon.

(i think)
Yoav.de86 June 19th, 2009, 11:58 PM 118 Shekels per person, for eat-as-you-can, for 11 different types of meat, meat bread, potatoes, salads, rice, jar of water, Capirinya and ice cream... i think it's cheep:)
Kappa21 June 20th, 2009, 05:59 AM 118 is alot of money for all you can eat.....
I can eat for 2 people for under 100 NIS in Canada......Chinese mostly :D
The best place to eat is this place in Herzelia Pituach. Its this Indian Tanduri house...all u can eat.... had only like 5-7 options..but its very good....open on the shabbat
Eat and then puke it all out in the beach right by...
Yoav.de86 June 20th, 2009, 08:41 AM the meat is very special and unique.. and there is Entrecote too. the restaurant is also not cosher, so the prices are bit higher.
besides... how can you compare a Brazilian restaurant to a Chinese restaurant?! are you vegetarian?!?!
Kappa21 June 20th, 2009, 10:01 AM I love meat...
does this all you can eat brazilian joint have servers walking around giving you a choice of meat? :?
Gliker June 20th, 2009, 03:00 PM We have a few Brazilian Churascarias here in Houston, too. They are great and have a lot more than just entricote. The cost is over 200 NIS per person. At least I get a coke with my meal.

Kappa21 September 20th, 2009, 08:47 PM Eilat is cool!
Nice import/export business going on there.
I think that a good portion of our imports from China arrive in Eilat.
Ashdod seems to be busy too, but Cars are popular in Eilat.
Haifa deals alot with chemicals and imports/exports from Europe/Americas...
maorus September 21st, 2009, 12:31 PM Eilat needs to work up on that crazy young people resort feeling like in Aia Napa, burgus and thailand..
Yoav September 21st, 2009, 02:45 PM ^^you mean legal drugs?
Urban Legend September 21st, 2009, 06:34 PM Eilat needs to work up on that crazy young people resort feeling like in Aia Napa, burgus and thailand..
that's the youth. you can't do anything.
only the gov. can give the police backup so they do something. the city of Eilat can't do nothing.
this problem is common also in Miami.
another thing to deal with the youth is to build more high-class hotels so it will be too expensive for the young people. but it's not really good idea.
elab September 21st, 2009, 08:06 PM My 5 cents... :)

no lol I said that as a positive thing, Eilat needs to have the feeling that all those places have, pure craziness on the promenade and streets..
Urban Legend September 22nd, 2009, 04:32 PM i don't agree with you. in most of the cases these drunk teenagers make too much noise and disturb all the surrounding.
Kappa21 September 23rd, 2009, 12:04 AM I dont think making the city into a youth-resort is good nor making it into a pricy joint would benefit anyone.
All hotels and industry deals in different perspectives. There is maybe 20% who deal with high end good while 50% deal with both and possibly another 30% deal with youth and discounted items...
taking one would just hurt the other...afterall..pricy resorts need the young to work and they would need a place to crash....
The law needs to be in place ofcourse because drugs creates serious issues for the city as turf wars and violence erupts. Eilat is a great place and it can be very family oriented..

i think that drugs is not such common problem as alcohol. the main reason for violence in Israel today is alcohol.
maorus September 23rd, 2009, 05:02 PM Ok maybe Eilat shouldn't be a youth resort but some place in Israel should... Im bored!!
Kappa21 September 24th, 2009, 02:58 AM i think that drugs is not such common problem as alcohol. the main reason for violence in Israel today is alcohol.
Than Israel needs to regulate alcohol.
But blaming alcohol isnt the main reason..
Some say the conflict with the arabs, the iranian threat, the terrorism, the hectic lifestyles, the israeli culture is the reason for these violence....
Before, Israeli culture was normal and very unique..today.. (thanks to Zoharism and Internet) our country is exploited...issues become our own with a click of the button and the WWW.
Frankly, there is issues with alcahol. The problem that a 12 year old can go to a kiosk at 12:30pm on a saturday night and buy Vodka, and 4 large tall cans of beer as well as a pack of cigarrettes is insane.
Who is it to stop him?
The kiosk owner? What will he get? Making 80 NIS or being a good citizen?
Israel should make stores that only sell alchahol... like in Canada

Rivkin December 2nd, 2009, 10:13 PM Well, when I was in Eilat last August, the impression wasn't too good as of the beach at the centre next to the shopping mall. Main beach was filled with trash and nobody didn't care and those loudspeakers with (imho) cheap eurotrance didn't make me feel like in earthly paradise either and to be honest, Eilat lacked the authentic Israeli feeling (many africans others than those from Ethiopia there) . It was sorta european/way too tacky island within the Israel(but Nice is batter for sure in this sense). So I have mixed feelings with Eilat. But Coral beach was the best i think.
Urban Legend December 2nd, 2009, 11:01 PM the best beaches south to Eilat (next to Coral World for example). it's far from the tumult of the center tourist beaches (mall area and northern promenade).
I do December 2nd, 2009, 11:33 PM ^^
I agree. the best beach in Eilat is the Princess Beach just next to the Eyptian border.

yeah bunch of looser, but many of those loosers give money to Israeli institutions and charities and most probably those bunch of loosers will make aliyah and end up living in Israel...NOW u wanna know who's a looser? that weirdo stalking bulgarian who most probably will never put a foot in Israel, doesn't have any relation to the country or isn't even jewish...but spends the whole day in Israeli forum..:)

honestly, this is quite sad, is that really how tribal and primitive you are? one has to be jewish to post on the Israeli section?!?

Didn't know there were real Jews and unreal Jews . You either are one or not, and by religion, not by race. I can't say i'm a Jew since i happen to follow a different religon, but if origins were what matters, then i wouldn't be a fake Jew either. You give yourself licenses when you make jokes about someone or something else, yet then got butthurt when other people respond... That's not a sportive attitude, c'mon, let's play nice, don't be like Hugo ;).
Gzdvtz April 13th, 2010, 08:54 PM Like I said, you're funny, the beer's on me :)
dwdwone April 21st, 2010, 04:53 AM I remember this German guy back in the 30's and 40's who used to talk about pure blood and whether or not you were a real German. Not really sure what the difference is, other than the race involved.

its well known...Jews outside Israel are more extremist...and sometimes its funny but they think they are better than Israelis! lool
They like to love Israel from distance and to wish wars with arabs...cuz they dont care they sleep well at nights and they have their normal life who cares about Israelis that dying ha Makkabi?

As someone who's been on both side of the spectrum...i dont think you, zohar, should be the last person to comment on Jews from abroad.
You never been to their communities and you never personally met them and they are well diverse people....its sad that you...someone who acts as if Israel is liberal gay paradise.....
You yourself should remember that most of the Gay Movement in Israel (1970's and i have articles/documents to back it up) were started from Jews abroad...
Also alot of the investment and trade occured from Jews abroad.
Not to mention intelligence gathering and tourism...
I can go on and on and on, why Jews abroad are literally a lifeline for Israel...and i dont think they wish wars for Israel. Afterall, you are the ones who are voting in these politicians who dodge peace and act in their own behest.
If you knew anything about Jews living abroad, you would know that many of them defend Israel strongly, because they take a few bullets from Neo-Nazis, Left Wing and Arab/Muslims abroad comparing Israel and Jews together.
Im not going to defend Makkabi's talk...but atleast try to come to some relative cities in the diaspora like London, NY, LA, Miami, Buenos Aries to start judging these people...

M-120 April 23rd, 2010, 11:29 PM I feeling sorry for you, Zohar. And I am not going to argue with you cause it is not going anywhere, your nothing but dumb.
And for your own information, most of Jews in Australia are Ashkenazi Jews and most of them are rightists.
None of my Israeli friends, relatives and so on hates Haredis other than Neturei Karta and other anti Israel groups. So stop bullshitting. Your just one of its few dumb people who are anti Jews (Haredim).
I am sure most of people will agree that they'd prefer to throw leftists/peace now activits/anti Jews like you, Zohar to Iran instead of Haredi people. So far Ive asked 11 Israelis on the net and they agreed with me.
Maybe I should do a poll on here or Facebook if you like?

Israeli Forums Discussion Rules
1. no bashing\dissing\cursing Whatsoever, I dont want to see any offensive personal remarks! those can be conducted through the right ways (PM's,Emails etc)
I think that, from now on, we all should adhere to the rules regardless our moods, so let's leave any previous conflict in the past and start coexisting together.
M-120 April 24th, 2010, 06:29 AM ^^ He called me names before as well and accused me of not caring about other Israelis getting killed in wars.

a) Make no sense of what is going on....
b) You insult others
c) you rant about right wing politics
c1) you make no sense of right wing politics
d) you get into accusation and fights...
seriously....

Yes, i understand, and that's why i said from now on. If based in the past you're gonna pick on Zohar all the time or anyone else and write tasteless things that whoever enters the Israeli section can read, then you're gonna make this place bitter for everyone. The rules are there for all of us, so if you feel you're being harrassed, then stick to them and report the person you think it's bugging you. However, you can't expect people being nice to you if most of the time you pour hate like if there was no tomorrow. If you think that your perspective of the world is giving you troubles, then keep them to yourself, it's a common sense rule.

lol just check out the polls 39% wouldnt like to live next to hareadim+do u remember how many mandates Shinui got?
Herbie Fully Loaded April 24th, 2010, 11:00 AM Zohar, i doubt you will ever change the way he thinks just like he might never convince you of his views. The best thing you both could do is forget about each other and start focusing in something else. Sad, but is the only way you both can stop fighting over whatever the other thinks.
alangm13 April 25th, 2010, 01:13 AM i suggest that from now nobody gives its own politic ideas unless its the forum of politic
Yetzirah231 April 26th, 2010, 01:49 PM Well this topic is about Eilat....
And to be a rightwing zionist or Jew is easier and different outside of Israel. Within Israel all kind of groups have their own approach and goosbumps.
Mainly I'm Litvak (far away from Lithuania) some influence from Spanish-Portuguese, so later Dutch...
I must agree somewhat with Zohar. But I know also Ashkenazi settlers... I think a lot of Mizrahim etc. just know for generations that you just have war now and then and sometimes trade again with Arabs. Ashkenazim come from the ''Enlightened'' world as I do, where people dream of peace, while there is none raely... mainly interests...
So the real Litvaks or Russians build their own pipelines from Egypt, than south of Eilat via Jordan and Syria... While the other Askenazi colonizers like Bush=Standard-Oil and Shell try to bomb Irak and get their property back, plus try to create the other American-Israeli pipeline from Georgia via Turkey, to Haifa - Eilat towards the far east. The Western worlds investments seem more expensive and complicated.
The Russian-army is nowadays in Tartus-Syria, while Israeli's where asked to station in Georgia... Americans have their bases overhere and in Kosovo and Georgia to ''protect'' their interest of pipelines....
It just has nothing to do with the peace or freedom of the Kosovo or Israeli or Jordanian people... all is just business.
Viva Eilat, if it was ever historically Israel? But it's better to keep it as a stategic point in the south, and for business.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhdusIwen-U
Not that history always repeat itself... but most people didn't want to understand what happened in the '90's in the Yugoslavian war... What the Russian, German, American and Iranian interests was overthere. Most people don't know why at the evening the Kosovowar stopped, the Germans and Americans (and the U.N.) agreed upon an old conflict (conflict since the 1920's between Standard Oil and IG-Farben, that partly started WW-II). ''Suddenly'' only at the evening the Kosovowar stopped the Nuremberg laws where overruled and Americans where allowed to buy parts of IG-Farben again (BAYER, BASF etc.) for the role the Germans and Americans played and agreed upon in the Yugoslavian war in the '90's and agreements upon the Oilpipeline from the Kaspian Sea towards the Meditaranian, while Germany gave illigally most of it's DDR-weapons to the Kroats etc. etc.
Last year I was in Herzegovina and saw the refineries that they didn't want to sell to Shell, but they did choose a Russian company to re-open it years later although they needed the money earlier.
It seems to me that Israeli's nowadays look more towards where the money is going and still trying to feel themselves enlightened, instead of realy understanding ethics or the risks where they are playing with.
But who knows, if the oilpipelines will stay a cold-war for the next decades, it is easier to live with. But I'm a bit affraid that the U.S.A. and European propaganda will start to ask for a 3rd worldwar, like most settlers and new-immigrants always want renewal of the war with the Arabs, partly it's a western sickness.
(For the guys in Australia: please also remember why the U.S.A. and Holland gave Oil to Japan to support the war against Russia, and what the local Indonesian group Hezbollah in the 1920's had to do with it, while mainly the U.S.A. did choose after WW-II to put Hezbollah-Ahmed Sukarno into power, while declaring oil-trade an international source). Pearl Harbor was no surprise and no consparicy at all, Australians should know the History... Why Malasia fell before it (Oil), and Indonesia declared war to Japan on the evening after Pearl Harbor, Oil was the main connection and reason why the western world had to defend themselves...
Black Gold is even more important than Gold compared to those days.
Jews will only learn if they will understand more complex situations than the western idea of left and right wing.
Australian and enlightenment west-Juden should ask themselves where Australia was when they knew about the first concentrationcamps in the 1930's in Nanking - China, and how the U.S.A. (C.I.A.) wrote in 1942 to benefit from them (and in other countries). Ost-juden (more Haredi like R. Nachman and others where against Napoleon etc. in certain ways) should learn why King David had dogs, that some defence, a state and work is good besides the Budistic things we learn from the Baal-ShemTov.
Learn learn learn, only then you will grow and we can become 1 nation with different views but stronger.
It surprised me how little Israeli's sometimes know about what happened or happens, At the other hand it can be a peacefull state of mind if you only think about your own peace....
