I'm assuming that Leicester FC will continue to use Walker's Stadium.

Very nice design by the way, different from what everyone else is doing.

Absolutely perfect stadium for rugby, by the looks of it. Love the terraced promenade at the bottom on three sides. Between new Welford Road and Thomond Park, the bar has been set for the redevelopment of rugby stadia around the UK.

By the way, does anyone know the seating and standing capacities, once the stadium has been fully developed? Looks like a much higher seating to standing ratio than Thomond Park.

No, Leicester FC play at Welford Road.

Leicester City FC play at the Walkers Stadium.

Looks good, that new stand. But what is that small leftover of the old one including seats still doing there in front of it? What an awkward and funny sight.

By the way, very nice design (I just had a look at the first post). It vaguely reminds me of that Ljudski (?) VRT stadium in Slovenia. Glad to see the comeback of terracing.

They found a live mains cable when they were knocking down the old stand, so couldn't remove that last bit until the electricity company came to safely disconnect it on 4 May.

I think that the rugby stadiums in UK and Ireland are miles ahead of the equivalent football stadiums. It's funny that the football teams say that they build these boring off the shelf stadiums because they are much cheaper yet a number of rugby teams that I am sure are making less money then the football teams are building miles better stadiums. I really am impressed Parc Y Scarlets it is the best sub 15,000 stadium I have seen and then you have this and Thomond Park and they really blow some of shoddy stadiums being built by the counterparts in the football league out of the water.

They have finished stage 1 now bringing the Welford Road capacity to 24,000. And this is how the completed product looks.

Like how you've added something meaningful to the thread. Does it matter what it looks like, it is an old stadium that is being renovated at least it has history. Where are you from probably America where there are huge monstrosities of grounds.

The mods need to do something about people like imbee and others on here. It's no wonder so few bother posting now in this section of the forum. Ah, the old days on here without trolls like imbee and Axelferis.

Forget imbee... should be on a site dedicated to six yr olds...
Anyway. Im not sure which way this stadium faces, but if they have got it right, during mid day matches hopefully this design will allow a lot of light into it. From the picture tho it shows shade with the sun behind the main stand (not what u would want), but we obviously dont know what time of day this impression was modelled on. It's unusual, but quite pleasant on the eye..

The virtual "camera" in the last render is facing South-East - the stand on the left is the North Stand.

I think this is a tidy little stadium. Its not going to revolutionise stadium design, but if its a choice beween this and the bog standard one tier bowl typology seen up the road at the walkers stadium I know which one I prefer.

Absolutely agree with you - the same can be said for the likes of Thomond Park with the two large side stands and lower terraces. The thing I particularly like in both are the terraces in the lower tiers (I assume they're terraces anyway in the three stands opposite the larger one)

the stadium is completely amazing from a crap stadium where everyone was and now into a big grand stand how about going around the stadium building huge the seat cap* will be around 50,000-60,000..

I've lived in Leicester, and believe me, there is barely enough space to build the proposed 30,000-seater, never mind anything bigger. The stadium has two major roads at either end (one being Welford Road itself), a car park behind the new Caterpillar Stand, and a college and car dealership behind the remaining stand. The site is landlocked. Even if that weren't true, the cost of building a 50/60,000-seater stadium is massive, and there definitely isn't the demand.
