What is the story behind that? I noticed it behind the big M sign and wondered what that was about.

Amazing how much has changed though, certainly looks for the better.

Given the lack of construction, the Mancunian way is visible along with the random part-completed slip road. Does anyone know the story with this sliproad?

What is the story behind that? I noticed it behind the big M sign and wondered what that was about.

It was intended to lead onto a dual carriageway heading into the city centre which was never designated and Princess Street is a one-way street heading in the opposite direction, meaning traffic would have been thrown onto a one-way street. Use Google Maps and it all becomes quite clear.

As you can see indicated by the arrows, Princess Street is one way out of the City centre, and Sackville Street is one way into the city centre
