CULWULLA February 10th, 2004, 06:37 AM does anyone know anything about this 12storey for Gosford?
http://www.realestatelogic.com.au/development%20property/special.jpg
D.A. ready for lodgement 56 units [= 4x4 + 11x3 + 31x2 + 10x1 ] + retail podium of about 1,000 square metres + 2 dedicated commercial floors of total of about 1,000 square metres for medical centre, space for ambulance etc, 2 basements for 200 cars, value with D.A. approval say $5-5.5 million
Avatar February 10th, 2004, 11:25 AM Nope but i guess it is near Gosford Hospital which is itself undergoing redevelopment??
12 storeys is pretty crap though and the building is an abomination... very ugly.
climbing_crane February 10th, 2004, 11:31 AM The building has a nice roof but Gosford is a hole.
CULWULLA June 8th, 2004, 03:17 PM heres the 9storey OUTRIGGER RESORT uc at Ettalong Beach! looks good, im moving to umina soon so im stones throw away. ill get pix. supposed to be open april 2005,

Vitriol June 8th, 2004, 03:35 PM The building has a nice roof but Gosford is a hole.
LOL, how true! I'd rather spend a weekend at Cessnock Caravan Park than the dump that is Gosford. However, Woy Woy has a beautiful island.
Syd-Hk June 9th, 2004, 02:10 PM I've noticed that too... Gosford is all houses. I dont think that there is enough population to support a skyscraper yet.
finn June 9th, 2004, 02:55 PM I've noticed that too... Gosford is all houses. I dont think that there is enough population to support a skyscraper yet.
Don't bet on it! Look at this rendering of three little 'scrapers that are currently under construction up on the hills above Gosford! The Sanctuary at Rumbalara:
http://www.realestate.com.au/objects/props/2557/101432557ml1079998661.jpg
Towers are popping up in suburban centres everywhere across the Sydney metro...even up on the Central Coast! :)
Muse June 10th, 2004, 12:46 AM Towers are popping up in suburban centres everywhere across the Sydney metro...Yes, and most of them tend to be pretty ordinary but that's a different story and a matter of personal opinion.
Are there 3 or 4 towers in the The Sanctuary at Rumbalara render? It looks like one tower is hiding mostly behind the middle one, or it may just be curving around longer than the other 2.
..
CULWULLA June 10th, 2004, 01:12 AM Central Coast is the fastest gr0wing area in NSW! and one of fastest in Australia! its booming up there and these 8-12storey bldgs are going up everywhere !
Rumbarlara is amazing ! the 3 x12storey towers sit high above the Gosford CBD with commanding views!
Gosford is certainly not houses. lol There is approvals for 15storey towers atm in CBD.
Muse June 10th, 2004, 04:18 AM O.K. So The Sanctuary @ Rumbalara consists of 3 towers. Actually, I now notice the end one curves around being longer too.
Genuine photo:

Muse June 15th, 2004, 05:14 AM The Sanctuary @ Rumbalara is being advertised soooooooooooo heavily. T.V. commercials, the property pages in newspapers and even in the Wentworth Courier Central. Have I missed any other places it's being advertised? ;)
Trances June 15th, 2004, 07:59 AM Looked alot better, Blue and more glass in the render
finn June 15th, 2004, 08:05 AM Looked alot better, Blue and more glass in the render
Actually, the real-life photograph is taken from almostthe same angle as the third tower in the rendering (the tower that is furthest away) - I think it looks pretty much the same. But how shocking is that concrete covered hillside leading down to it! :nono:
Fabian June 15th, 2004, 08:28 AM The Sanctuary @ Rumbalara is being advertised soooooooooooo heavily. T.V. commercials, the property pages in newspapers and even in the Wentworth Courier Central. Have I missed any other places it's being advertised? ;)
I've heard it on the radio as well on MIX 106.5 during ad breaks a couple of months ago. They haven't been playing it as of late. Also the developers (Estate Properties) are same ones in charge of Escen down at Parramatta.
Also I'm sure an apartment in the complex was given as a prize during a promotion by The Daily Telegraph.
Avatar June 15th, 2004, 02:32 PM I've noticed that too... Gosford is all houses. I dont think that there is enough population to support a skyscraper yet.
LOL nice to see you know what you are talking about, the Central Coast (compared to wollongong) has a larger population, larger malls, more expensive housing but unfortunately poorer roads! It also has greater numbers of taller buildings, which are not limited to just Gosford or the Entrance. Terrigal has a couple of tall bulldings while Erina has an large office tower under construction... The Entrance is home to the tallest skyscraper in NSW outside The Sydney metro area! Where are you getting your facts from Syd-HK?
BTW Gosford has several towers all built around the hill that already exceed 10 levels. Most of these don't look as high, as they are partially hidden bu other towers, hills and vegetation. I think Panorama Towers is 12-14 levels.
CULWULLA June 16th, 2004, 12:30 AM Central Coast is BOOMING! thats why im moving there! lol
theres an article in todays tele, showing how the coast is not for the "the newly wed or the nearly dead" but families are now chosing a "seachange" and moving in droves to a great lifestyle!
CULWULLA July 6th, 2004, 03:54 PM pic of 9storey Outrigger at Ettalong from my balcony. (thru the trees) lol
it really dominates the township as the next tallest is 2-3 storey walkups.

nice picture cullwa ,it won't be long until the sydney-central coast area will become another skyscraper forest.
CULWULLA July 9th, 2004, 11:48 AM managed to snap these pix today of the massive outrigger UC in Ettalong.
it had a small tree on top so i guess its topped out.

Avatar November 5th, 2004, 02:03 PM BTW they have motioned for an elevated freeway and tunnel system between the F3, through and over West Gosford, behind Gosford CBD and through the Rumbalara mountains to Erina.
This should be interesting - maybe the beginnings of a Central Coast Freeway Network.
CULWULLA November 6th, 2004, 06:00 AM yes, it does sound great. hope theres funding.cc always gets shit end of stick.
maybe things are looking up
Justin November 6th, 2004, 11:01 PM Better infrastructure will definately open up an area to developers, So far Gosford looks good, but more is needed.
CULWULLA November 8th, 2004, 11:20 PM heres latest scraper added to Central Coasts SS.com. The 9storey/35m CROWNE PLAZA @ TERRIGAL. Completed in 2001 it has 196 rooms.

Avatar November 9th, 2004, 11:09 AM LOL latest to be added - taking its time i see.
Crowne Plaza - Terrigal has been a local Central Coast landmark for a very long time!
It has also been highly awarded and well recognised as one of the best hotels around.
Not particularly high but nevertheless quite a behemoth for the terrigal bowl.
Trances November 9th, 2004, 02:02 PM hmm it seems so out of place up there
used to have a friend up on the hill behind it was huge
sure there are a few people unhappy about it
CULWULLA December 21st, 2004, 12:02 AM finally!

CULWULLA February 11th, 2005, 12:39 AM Trances, Ettalong aint no eyesore. Its a lovely laid back place. very pretty, the palm beach ferry makes its way there many times daily.Hopefully soon the "fast ferry" will be up and running to Circular Quay. Only matter of time.

The 25 year old Memorial club which stood next to Outrigger is being demolished atm and Multiplex plan to build a 7 storey resi/mixed block. looks great.

CULWULLA February 14th, 2005, 04:53 AM scanned this postcard. It shows the northern beaches all the way to Palm Beach. Just north of palm Beach is Umina Beach and Ettalong
http://img97.exs.cx/img97/8929/northernbeaches1hl.jpg
Avatar February 14th, 2005, 09:48 AM Cul, you labelled the image incorrectly! ;)
The label for Palm beach looks more like the northern headland to me Box Head/Killcare... In fact I'd bet on it.
You can clearly see lion island to the left and the mouth of the hawkesbury to the right. Umina and Ettalong beaches are in the centre (at top) of the image, just above lion island.
Here is another one from above newport...
http://www.newportmirage.com.au/images/gallery/Lifestyle/images/Pittwater-aerialtif.jpg
This one shows a closeup of Barranjoey and Pittwater.

CULWULLA February 14th, 2005, 11:52 AM hey your right. but i didnt label them. its from a postcard i bought from woolies.lol
yeah i can see Lion Island.palm beach should be just above Avalon.
just past Lion is in the postcard pic you can see Ocean beach which is west of Umina.
The barrenjoey pic also shows bit of Umina. classic pix! so thats what it looks like on otherside of lighthouse. I alsways see it from north.
thanks

CULWULLA March 10th, 2005, 10:42 AM The Gosford council are really starting to p my off! there seriously thinking of limiting heights to 10storeys for the CBD. Chamber of Commerce Pesident has right idea. She says that councils new city plan would STIFLE future devlopemnnt! i agrree
Developers are staying clear of CBD. why build a 8storey or 4storey project when the site can clearly hold a 15-20storey tower. Gosford really needs to become a capital commercial hub of Central Coast.theres no incentive atm to devlope. i really hope council allow taller bldgs as the cBD has way too many empty bldgs.

sirhc8 March 10th, 2005, 11:27 AM ^
That's certainly not the way forward. The Central Coast is only going to become more important in the future.
Being so close to Sydney and once the rail link is improved and F3-M2 tunnel is built, if they market themselves correctly they will be able to attract big business. This will only happen if they let it happen.
CULWULLA March 10th, 2005, 12:06 PM i live 15mins drive from Gosford at Umina beach. Gosford is a real focal point of this area. but atm its a place where wants to drive past. either to Erina or terrigal ect.
Gosford has such a great potential!
http://www.retireesguide.com.au/gosford/gosford.jpg
this is currently the waterfront restaurant where marina could be built
http://www.2ccc.net/images/Gosford%20Waterfront%20Aug%2004%20(3)framed.jpg
Theres a great train station right at the side of CBD within 5mins walk.
Theres a fabulous footy stadium right next to station.
Northpower Stadium (one of best atmospheres in the state!)
http://www.cityofgosford.com/images/Northpower_Stadium.jpg
Across the road from all this is Brisbane Waters, which has plans for an enormous marina on foreshore. The CBD has great character with steep hills rising to its east. plenty of room for highrise bldgs. Also the pacific hwy runs between CBD and Brisbane waters.
So it really is located perfectly to become a major city for Central coast.
As you can see in this map. Gosford is half way between Sydney & Newcastle!

sirhc8 March 10th, 2005, 12:19 PM That's a perfect setting for a city if you look at that model, isn't it. You could easily have a nice compact CBD encased by hills and a beautiful Harbour.
Also, Northpower is a fantastic stadium. I went to see USA vs. Japan at the rugby world cup there. It was a full house and an amazing atmosphere even though we're watching two of the sports minnows. Most people went for Japan.
cammo2004 March 10th, 2005, 12:47 PM The council up there seems to think Gosford's just another country town. It has many people who commute down to Sydney. Gosford, being about halfway between Sydney and Newcastle, has the potential to serve some northern suburbs commuters from Sydney and some southern Newcastle commuters.
I find it rather odd they don't look at their geographic location and realise the potential.
The waterfront really looks good though.
CULWULLA March 10th, 2005, 01:02 PM yes, its amAzing how many people travel from CC to sydney. im one of thousands who travel from woywoy everyday.
Gosford really is perfectly located .also (west/east) between bush and beach!
The current deputy lord mayor of Sydney (John McInerney) recently drew up a msterplan for the city of Gosford.not sure how it was recieved or if its includes highrise potential? ill have to ask him.
Fabian March 11th, 2005, 10:19 PM While regional Sydney centres embrace the skyscraper to bring in business and life into their centres, Gosford is going the other way and curtailing it. If Gosford is ever going to have a vibrant CBD and attract business, it needs some talls. Businesses need tall buildings with lots of space!!!! Gosford will lose out big time in the long run.
Muse March 11th, 2005, 11:33 PM Don't know if a few wimpy scrapers are the answer, and that's all they ever will be.
Gosford needs more attractions. What is it famous for?
It doesn't even have cinemas anymore and it needs more than a once-in-a-lifetime-event stadium.
CULWULLA March 18th, 2005, 01:16 AM ^ Muse, Gosford is famous for being a "sleeping giant"

CULWULLA April 19th, 2005, 12:47 AM great news! another 9storey planned for Ettalong!~ its going to have a great little skyline in2 years. this will be the 3rd 9storey within 2 blocks built since Outrigger last year. they must of known i was coming to town.
Developer TESROL, will build the 28$mil 89 unit complex on the old waterslide site and will incl 700sqm of retail. The bldg will have great views of Brisbane Waters and said spokesman Mr Fox.150 people will be employed tto build the bldg which is great for local employment!
If you count the large plantroom on roof it becomes a 10storey bldg!!
Tesrol are a great builder! They did "Manhattan" in Elizabeth BAy and many others.

CULWULLA June 7th, 2005, 12:44 AM In todays CC news, theres a big article on "ETTALONGS HIGH NOON"- residents revolt over fears of becoming mini gold coast.
Apparently Ettalong residents arent happy with what the 9storey Outrigger has done to its "sleepy village" and they reckon its set a precident for more highrise. The mayor has told them it was a "one off icon" which included its 2nd stage a 7storey project currently uc. Tesrol Developments have also lodged a 9storey DA across the road which everyone says its too dense and over developed. Theres a rally this sat against the projects. They want Ettalong rezoned to just 4storeys!!!
What a croc of shit! How dare the silly old farts think that Ettalong can stay a sleepy village while the area is rife with unemployment and uninhabited houses .This is progress! CC is fastest growing area in the state! its time to move on and grasp the future by the balls! These projects are only 9 storeys for gods sake. (The height limit for the peninsula).
Im writing to the Gosford mayor and councilors to let them know how i feel.lol
Ive talked to friends that have lived there all there life and they welcome these projects with open arms! bout time they say!
Locals say they are concerned about associtated population increase would exacerbate road and carparking congestion, foreshore erosion and lack of public transport were major issues. Well get state goc and council to build some decent roads and add some buses and fast ferry to area!! dont winge about crap that can be fixed.
SinCity June 7th, 2005, 08:55 AM NIMBY's are everywhere. :D They just hold off the inevitable. They should just give in to progress. Its better all round.
CULWULLA June 8th, 2005, 12:28 AM lol, my letter was published today in Telegraph.(in Central Coast Extra).
CULWULLA June 14th, 2005, 01:58 AM OUTRIGGER ETTALONG OPENS TODAY!

http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/1536/centralcoastwait6fw.jpg
Cee_em_bee September 23rd, 2005, 08:42 AM I really hope this get's approved because Gosford needs a kick up the backside, it has all the potential and already beautiful cbd with many plazas and parks just needs some talls.
CULWULLA September 27th, 2005, 11:33 AM woohoo! finally after 4 years, the $64mil Spurbest project received approval from state gov! The scaled down version will be 16storeys and consist of 206 units and 3000sqm of retail! This will really rejuvinate the Gosford town centre and kick along other planned projects!
cammo2004 September 27th, 2005, 11:55 AM woohoo! finally after 4 years, the $64mil Spurbest project received approval from state gov! Why was it scaled down?
Still, it's good news for the area.
CULWULLA September 27th, 2005, 12:08 PM the old farts at the council thought the original 30storey and 20storey were too large for Gosford. At least Spurbest had guts to propose something of that scale. 2 years ago they relodged project at councils preferred height of 16storeys/50m.its been on state gov desk since and now its finally approved after recent outcry by developer!
CULWULLA October 6th, 2005, 10:41 AM big news in todays CC Advocate.
The 17storey CC leagues Motel is set to be approved next week and will commence construction in June! this is great news. now Gosford has 2x 10storey bldgs uc atm and Spurbests 16storey set to commence soon also.

I agree. Gosford's an EXCELLENT location to get some tallies going.
I reckon it's going to become one our best 'little' skylines. The location is PERFECT. The hills, the Brisbane Water - it really is a great location. They really need to beautify the centre of Gosford though.
It has heaps of potential.
CULWULLA December 10th, 2005, 10:54 AM I totally agree. i drive through it every now and then and it is great spot for a CBD.
checkout this 3D model of the city.
nice body of water ajacent to cove.. this is where a marina/darling harbour type project is mooted. theres the CBD, the hills, bushh.

lions2006 January 13th, 2006, 08:14 AM Hey people,
culwulla or anyone else, myself and my wife are looking at moving to the central coast in august. Late last year we spent 2 nights at the the bells resort in killcare and we instantly fell in love with the place.
Origionally coming from melbourne and now sydney we would like some information on nice suburbs to buy an old house in. I mean Terrigal, Avoca Beach and Killcare are nice but a bit too expensive. I was more thinking of Bateau Bay, Kincumber, Erina or even up towards Woongarrah. We want to live in a nice suburb away from the housing commision homes and close to the ocean or lakes. Im a builder so it doesnt really matter where we live because i can work pretty much up there.
I have a bit of a soft spot for the central coast mariners too!! hope they beat sydney on saturday night.
Anybody got some ideas on nice areas?

Lake Munmorah area for sure. It's very close to the freeway, 15 minutes away from Swansea, 20 minutes away from Wyong, 15 minutes away from Budgewoi and Toukley and 40 minutes away from Newy. The prices there are cheap in comparison to the Gosford area and it's an awesome place to wind down or raise a family.
The local facilities are great, you have schools, medical centres and local shops, but I believe the closest grocery shop is the Bilo in Budgewoi or the Coles at Toukley.
CULWULLA January 13th, 2006, 10:22 AM hey there. I live in Umina heights which overlooks Umina. Its a fab spot. The whole peninsula is changing and older homes are being pulled down and replaced with new brick homes.
yes the killcare to The Entrance coastline is a bit espensive. There are some nice places in Woy Woy,Ettalong and Umina Beach area.Nice and cheap now too. You can get a great 4 bedroom home for under 400K only minutes to beach and lakes.
I like the Kincumber area also. nice bushy town with large homes.

lions2006 January 15th, 2006, 12:00 AM Thanks for that culwulla, i kind of know where umina beach is, how awesome. When we were up there we were at a lookout called mary byles lookout in Killcare Beach - what an awesome view over the water looking towards palm beach and further.
People have been telling me there aren't plenty of jobs up there and most people still travel. Being a Builder, hopefully there will be plenty of work.
We are going up on the long weekend to look around, we can't wait to move up when our current lease runs out in August and get out of this shithole called Sydney!!
CULWULLA January 15th, 2006, 01:25 AM i made a seachange 18months ago. i lived in miranda and decided to get out of busy sydney. best move ever did. CC is a great place. fastest growing place in australia. theres plenty of work with new homes everywhere.
lions2006 January 15th, 2006, 05:05 AM I live in Menai, love where we live but hate the expensive prices and the rat race. Can't wait to move but we r saving for another 6-8 months which will make a differance in the long term. Just love the aerial photos above.

The Bass and Flinders owned ocean Dreaming catamaran service is making day trips in a trial service by June!
The 34m luxury catamaran arrived yesterday at a Gosford public wharf with passengers keen to see area.
The vessel which can carry 275 people and will make 32 trial visits allowing customers 3hrs ashore.
After the trials the $75 daytripper ticket will inject $20,000 into Central Coast on each voyage! Some tours will include a Reptile park visit or Norah head lighthouse tour
CC tourism Horst Endrulat said the spectacular voyage will be a hit with holiday makers and will rate alongside BridgeClimb as an international attraction.
I also reckon it will boost Gosfords economy and assist with its impending construction boom since the citys masterplan has recently been approved for highrise up to 20storeys! Where the catamaran will dock is where the new marina will be built right opposite CC stadium!
i think voyage will take 45mins. This idea has been mooted for 10 years with a "fast ferry service" from Circular Quay to Ettalong, but nothing has happened. Finally somehting is going to happen. This catamaran will have to pass the Outrigger at Ettalong, not sure if it will stop there to pic up or what.

CULWULLA February 24th, 2006, 10:23 AM there was an article in a recent paper up here about the 2 large highrise projects that locals and council want to be either lowered or scrapped! The 7storey stage 2 of Outrigger and Tesrols 9dtorey -90unit block both at Ettalong town centre.
The council are fuming this week as they have just realized that FSartor is in charge of any highrise dev within 100m of coast line for NSW. He has said here doesnt see what fuss is about and likes the projects.
YES!!
These backward nimbys in dead old Ettalong dont relize its for the towns future. It will bring people and inject some life back into the township. gesus.

cammo2004 February 24th, 2006, 10:56 AM It's a shame about the lack of PT up that way. If it weren't for that, I'd consider going up there in a heartbeat (I can't and probably never will drive).
Then again, I live in the Shire, so it's not all bad!
lions2006 February 26th, 2006, 02:46 AM this kind of opposition to development in the Central Coast is really hindering growth there. The area has so much potential and if it was developed there would be more business and emloyment which would mean more people moving there and demand for houses which would push the value up. the area is already under developed, its not like it will become a mini Gold Coast.
The marina and ferry services to circular quay will be great for the area and tourism. central gosford badly needs some development. im still planning on moving to the cc this year, can't wait for it.
CULWULLA April 13th, 2006, 01:23 AM GREAT NEWS! in todays CC times, the Gosford mayor-Laurie maher has adopted the 20 year blueprint allowing highrise in the peninsula. his vote ment that the plan will allow bldgs more then 3 storeys.the draft now will see morte then 4800 new dwellings to accomadate 8000 in woy woy peninsula. This means 5 storeys in umina, 6storeys in woy woy. Also higher bldgs for specialized zones such as Ettalong.
this means employment and more action in CC. lets hope infrastacture keeps up. i think it will now.

Congratulations of your purchase! I am sure it will be everything you want - soak in the resort feel and more relaxed atmosphere!
I hope you like Umina beach. ;)
Empire Bay is ok but a little out of the way and rather quiet even by Central Coast standards. It takes a while to get from there to any of the major centres as it's right around the other side of the broadwater. I hope you enjoy it though it is definitely a great place for families and some of the recent development is very positive. The Central Coast is not as quiet as many of you think though with traffic gridlock during peakhour through various major routes and many other transport bottlenecks and associated problems. Gosford is moving ahead much faster now with investment and many new buildings - life is starting to come back to what was a dead centre.
I just wish they would build a bridge from the Northen Beaches through to the Peninsula. It would be so awesome and bring everything so much closer together. The tolled freeway from the F3 to Erina would also be a high agenda item I'd love to see materialise along with the 'Central Coast Way', a freeway designed to snake along the route of The Entrance Road, all the way from Gosford to The Entrance. Projects like these would give the place vital infrastructure that it has required for a long time. Meh while they are at at it add another train route that takes in the Central Coast's eastern suburbs too.
The Mariners are very cool and I was lucky enough to be VIP at their recent awards dinner at Mingara. They well and truly deserve all the support they get. The Marinators are awesome too and they should get full marks for all they have done this year.

CENTRAL Coast roads were the big winners in Tuesday's Federal Budget with news the widening of the F3 would be fast-tracked.
Federal Roads Minister and Robertson Federal Liberal MP Jim Lloyd was ``delighted'' with the extra road funding.
The Government has allocated $105.8 million to widen the F3 from Cowan to Mount Colah.
The State Government will contribute another $20 million to finish the work in two years instead of five.
``This will have a big impact on the Central Coast community,'' Mr Lloyd said. ``I suppose you could say it's been my signature project for the past decade.
``By the middle of 2008 we will have this project done.''
He said the other good news for the coast was the $1 million in road funding to Wyong and Gosford councils.
This is on top of funding the councils already receive from the Federal Government's Roads to Recovery program.
``Every council in Australia received double their Roads to Recovery funding and it will be in advance and in the bank by June for councils to spend on their priorities,'' Mr Lloyd said.
``This is on top of recurrent funding and it's a windfall for councils.''
He said extra funding allocated to the State Government was also good news for coast roads.
``The State Government will get $1.4 billion extra which again will be in the bank this year,'' he said.
CULWULLA May 15th, 2006, 04:24 AM ^yes its a positive approach by the budget. really needs it . they can see that the area is growing with 8000 new residents coming to peninsula in next few decades.
#sounds like a great buy, the Empire Bay is a top area. i have a few friends that live there and its central to most things.Arnt the prices on the Peninsula excellent? you can buy a 3 bedroom house for under 300K with 5mins from beach. The lifesytle is unreal.

The shoddy roads up there need the entire 1.4 billion to get them to even being remotely acceptable. 1 million will buy what, a few palms to put in the centre of roundabouts to block driver vision?

lions2006 June 4th, 2006, 01:01 AM Express Advocate June 3
THE State Government wants to turn Gosford into a regional hub and force the Central Coast's economy to be self-contained.
That is the aim of Premier Morris Iemma who this week released the Government's 10-year plan to use debt to fund public infrastructure projects.
The Government outlined 59 infrastructure projects for the Central Coast designed to reduce the number of people commuting to Sydney and Newcastle for work.
Gosford Hospital and Mandala Mental Health Unit stand to gain from the State Infrastructure Strategy, with a $135 million commitment in the 2006/07 Budget.
This includes providing new breast screening facilities at Gosford Hospital and an upgrade at Mandala.
Other health projects include a new combined ambulance station, at Wyong; a transitional care unit, at Woy Woy, and further redevelopment to Wyong Hospital.
Education, law enforcement, transport and power will also benefit from the strategy.
How much they will benefit will be revealed on Tuesday when the NSW Treasury hands down the Budget.
A spokesman for the Premier warned that not all of the Central Coast's projects would receive funding in this year's budget.
He also noted that some of the projects including widening of The Entrance Rd from the Tumbi Rd roundabout to Terrigal Drive had already started.
The Government has committed $41.3 billion to the strategy over the next four years.
I believe the coast has been neglected by the state government over the years including the promise of a new railway station in Warnervale. would be interesting to know with the election next march, if the seats around the central coast are labor or liberal run??

CULWULLA June 13th, 2006, 08:33 AM ^ that was the case up until a couple of months ago! CULWULLA July 20th, 2006, 03:03 PM Planning minister-Frank sartor has recently developed a CITIES TASKFORCE PROJECT which means creating major cities around the Sydney metro area. the cities chosen to develope over next 20 years will be-
WOLLONGONG
NEWCASTLE
PARRAMATTA
PENRITH
LIVERPOOL
GOSFORD.
Gosford LM laurie Maher said that sartors local environmental plan, devlopment control and public domain plan for Gosford will create a new vibrant major city and regional centre-Capital of central Coast!!the taskforce will oversee the growth of gosfords CBd, with denser living, highrise constructions, and entertainment and commercial activity.
thats the good news.
now for bad news-
Spurbest has just last week abandoned plans to develope a key block of land in Gosford waterfront.Spurbest owners have said that the 5 year delay in gaining necessary approvals had proved too much."the company has changed direction and will devlope a sydney site instead"/.the delays have cost many thousands of $$ for the company.back in 2000 they proposed a 30storey and 20storey towers but GCC said they were way too big and were reduced to just 15storeys after gaining approval last year.but it was all too late. The 9,000sqm block of land is now for sale and have expressions of interest by sept1.GCC has said a 15st/206 unit tower with 3000sqm of retail and commercial space have been approved for the site.
---------------------------
man this really angers me. poor old spurbest. what a joke, 5 friggen years???? no one should have to wait that long for an approval. no wonder sartor has taken over and has reset the cbds masterplan. the silly old conservative bastards have gone and Gosford will now come to life after being dead over past decade.
Also current LM of Gosford is a champion.Laurie Maher only a few months back gave his vote to allow highrise on the peninsula (woy woy/umina/ettalong) and now the stagnant area will now have highrise office bldgs and unit/hotel blocks, which will create jobs and pump some life into the area.
here here.
James Saito July 21st, 2006, 01:05 AM Piazza style development is the trend nowadays isn't it. I'm all for it!! :)
lions2006 July 21st, 2006, 09:34 AM They mentioned on the radio today that the Outrigger resort at ettalong has increased the local business in the area. they need more development like this on the peninsula because it is so run down and unappealing.
i agree 5 years is way too long, hoplefully sartor will speed up the process.
How about the rain this weeK??
CULWULLA July 21st, 2006, 12:15 PM ^yes, the outrigger has been the best thing for the peninsula.all the stupid locals are saying how its overdevelopment andplease no more like these, but after recent articles it has brought Ettalong out of its coma . Hopefully now the 9storey and 7storey next door will get apporval from sartor and kick off more action!
so much rain. its good but my son hasnt played footy for 4 weeks now.climbing the walls.lol
powlie July 25th, 2006, 10:44 AM In my opinion, the Rapido development should be built in the city centre of Gosford, honestly, Gosford Town Centre and Imperial Shopping Centre (http://www.imperialshoppingcentre.com/) do not cut it for people's preferred shopping spots in the Gosford City area. I heard a ramble that the Imperial was looking into a multi-million dollar expansion and renovation, but I highly doubt its overall aesthetic appeal... Look at the Imperial's website and you will see that the management haven't got an excellent grasp on all things "pretty".
Another quablle: when on earth is the hotel on the CCLC going to commence construction? I would love to know :)
Regards, POWLIE :P
CULWULLA July 25th, 2006, 12:07 PM yes, the Gosford town centre atm isnt that much to look at but after recent happenings with king sartor, things should get a better direction with better retail bldgs and tall office and resi towers up to 20storeys high. I also cant wait for the 17storey CCLC. i was told it will start this year.nice to hear from you. we need more locals.
cheers
powlie July 25th, 2006, 02:41 PM Hello!
It's great to know that there are locals on here as well!
Truth be told I've been following this forum every now and then for a few months now, so I decided to join :)
I have a huge issue with the Imperial Shopping Centre. Honestly, It is in such a brilliant location, its close to places of work, housing, transport, and yet the management can't even seem to run a decent website.
It's a shame they are so tight on details on a renovation/expansion. I emailed the Centre about a month ago concerning a revamp and all I got was a "we are looking into plans for an upgrade". Like I said, it's a shame they don't elaborate.
Also, someone please do tell me that those apartment buildings under-construction in Mann Street are not that horrible colour. It's like they want to dullen Gosford. If I am not mistaken, aren't they the "Sunrise and Sunset" twin tower developments? In the renders prior to construction, they displayed a different colour... oh well, I'm still telling myself it's an undercoat :) But hey, anything is bound to be better after "King Sartor" (I like that) took over many planning controls from the conservative, non-development nit-wits and Gosford City Council.
I know this is an extraordinarily long post, however did anyone catch the article about a new cultral precinct including an exhibition centre, performing arts centre (which by the way looks very Sydney :clown: ), regional library and youth arts facility? But the catch is that they have to relocate Gosford Public first, and the day the Education Department plugs money into the building of a new school when a fully functional one stands will be the day Hell and the rest of it freezes over. Especially at the price the Government would want for that piece of absolutely fantastic real-estate.
Well, that was my b***h over and done with hehe!
Till next post.
CULWULLA August 17th, 2006, 02:02 AM article in todays local rag about the SPURBEST site. Seems council are intrested in how much land is.The council said they has been much intrest in the 8564sqm site and expected some formal offers before sept1 deadline.A rumour atm is a developer wants to revive Spurbests original 22 storey proposal! the 22storey complex was knocked back 3 years ago but now will be allowed due to Sartors new masterplan for Gosford!
Its such a great site and needs a landmark project to kick along the activity in CBD.
powlie August 20th, 2006, 07:17 AM Driving through Gosford the other day, and if I am not very much mistaken, it seems that there has been some scaffolding erected at the leagues club in preperation of a crane! FINALLY construction may be beginning :-)
Still no information on the CCLC website though, hopefully there will be soon.
Also, any ideas on which company will be taking charge of the motel?
Till next post - Powlie
Cell.Phone August 20th, 2006, 09:40 AM The Central Coast sure is booming its like becoming a mini cairs their with their modern highrise ect.
But their idea of a shopping mall is a nightmare!!!!! They need a new shopping centre down their. Although they do have some great shopping centres down their i might add like tuggarah westfeild and erina fair.
Best wishes-cell.phone (HA GOT YA THEIR POWLIE!!)

cell phone-yeah Erina fair killed gosford town centre a few years ago when it opned. but now things are changing, there is a new shopping centre in centre of CBD and new masterplan will assist retail outlets and improve new projects
lions2006 August 20th, 2006, 12:00 PM The new CCLC building looks awesome. Where are they building that exactly?? to the north or to the south of the current building??
Bad luck mariners, Only 6 days to go till the grand final re-match.

Cell.Phone August 21st, 2006, 09:32 AM Yay i was right lol the tower looks great but i dont like the location right near a stadiume the only upside is u get the best seats in the house for footy games! they could of put it right opposite a beach that would be more appropriate.
CULWULLA August 30th, 2006, 07:19 AM view from Kibble Park. the twin 8 storey bldgs are part of the new mall shopping centre in centre of town.the new Central Coast leagues tower will go in centre of pic effectively doubling the current tallest bldgs at 17storeys/60m high.

those apartments look un-original typical design.
Also the outrigger eatalong is that owned by the hotel company that has hotels around the country becasue i stayed in a hotel up at the Gold Coast called the outrigger
CULWULLA August 30th, 2006, 11:50 AM ^yes, Outrigger are a huge hotel chain and Ettalong is the most recent Outrigger.there is one at Surfers P and Mooloolaba. theres one UC in Darwin and then next year in Docklands/mel.

Till next post:: Powlie.
CULWULLA October 22nd, 2006, 12:29 PM The tenacious www.tesrol.com.au have recently resubmitted the 9storey DA to be located opposite Outrigger at Ettalong with 2 floors removed to 7 storeys high and 61 units down from 89.
still the gosfrd councillors think its too big but sartor will now take control and has let members know it complies.fuck i hate old school councillors from gosford.
Tesrol even got Bob nation to design project.
A recent survey in Ettalong found out tyhat local businesses have prospered and entire Peninsula has come to life becaiuse of the 300 room Outrigger.more activity, more jobs, more reasons to come to the Peninsula!

powlie October 22nd, 2006, 01:00 PM These are the projects that will rejuvenate the Peninsula as the holiday spot it was 30 years ago. It will be a shame if it gets reduced to something retarded like <5 floors. It's hardly a skyscraper as it is...
Culwulla for mayor! =P
Meanwhile, it has gone dreadfully quiet around the CCLC Hotel development issue... I hope there won't be a repeat performance of the Spurbest monstrosity.
Again: CULWULLA FOR MAYOR!!

Just a quick question, has anyone heard anything about the CCLC Hotel development lately? Everything seems to have gone quiet... maybe thats a good thing, I'm not sure.
On another note, what's happening to the retail podium in those new apartments on Mann St... I haven't been down there in a while so I'm left a bit clueless ^_^

Cell.Phone November 13th, 2006, 05:46 AM Cool. It will be great having all these citys being revitilised could bring big things for them in the future. Can't wait to see other plans for Newcastle, Parramatta, Penrith and Liverpool
lions2006 November 13th, 2006, 07:47 AM Has this annoucement got something to do with the state election next March and a potential voter backlash against labor for years of neglect??
anyway the plans look fantastic, there is talk of more government jobs for Gosford. Need to start building some more office towers and apartment towers.
powlie November 13th, 2006, 09:01 AM Oh my God.
I just creamed my pants.
CULWULLA November 13th, 2006, 09:51 AM the masterplan was drafted last year but now finally made public view.i think it will be great for the future of Gosford and CC.
Cell.Phone November 14th, 2006, 08:29 AM I'll Say
Be interesting to see what type of architecture styles the new buildings will be.
Gong seems to already spring into action with apparently the building of an office tower. ( See Wollongong projects link for more details )
CULWULLA November 14th, 2006, 10:35 AM in the recent news article, they want to locate alot of state gov departments in Gosford, creating some 6000 jobs! so i guess they will be large simple office bldgs aka-Canberras latest type. which is cool./ also some tall resi towers will be erected in and around city cetnre
Cell.Phone November 14th, 2006, 10:56 AM I wonder why they chose Gosford.
I guess its private and its prime spot. Good to see the gov trying to improve some kind of demand on the CC.
powlie November 14th, 2006, 10:58 AM This is very good news for Gosford indeed... any tips on when all this might start? I read that the plan officially gets implemented in April next year... maybe after that ^_^
CULWULLA November 14th, 2006, 01:10 PM yes, its all go.
everyone please vote YES for bldgs 22storeys in height for Gosford on the express Advocate online poll >
http://www.expressadvocate.com.au/
Theres another article saying how councillor malcolm Brooks thinks Gosford might become another Chatswood. how pathetic. he reckons the city should stay at 7 storeys which is suffiecent. fuc off. this is why the city has been DEAD for past 20 years.
cammo2004 November 14th, 2006, 02:12 PM I wonder why they chose Gosford.

fuc off Mr Brooks.
CULWULLA November 14th, 2006, 10:07 PM yeah, i still think common sense will prevail.
just on new projects on central coast. here is my model of the old and new surf clubs for Umina.
Ive recently amended the model due to design change. its scale 1;100 and has detailed internally to show patrons new layout.
the new club will boast a lift and 100sqm cafe.

This is the old f***** that wanted a "3 story Parisian, cobblestoned streets Gosford".

I just voted 'yes' and it said that 65% were in favour! Go us!

Avatar November 15th, 2006, 08:31 AM I suggest we post it in the main Iiternational forums and get them to vote on it. It will be a landslide and it will really shuv it up Councellor Brooks, who btw is a corrupt old dickhead (and no I won't hold back) he is a old shonky turd with shady deals behind him and a very backward-thinking vision of Gosford. He should never have been allowed to stay in local government. He should be arrested for some of the things he did in the past when he was mayor.
powlie November 15th, 2006, 09:46 AM Nicely put Avatar.
I might go over there now and do it if anyone hasn't already done it and has no objections...?
CULWULLA November 15th, 2006, 09:56 AM go for it guys. good idea. i just think its silly how this old man can decide a citys fate. im glad Sartor has taken the reigns. hopefully the poll and pressure from developers will shake him up a bit.
Brooks was also responisble for actions against development in Ettalong. This township is 15mins south of Gosford and has so much potential for tourism etc. It took 10 years to get the 9storey Outrigger built. Now councillors are opposing the 9storey Tesrol project opposite it. Its now a year since lodgement nd its come down 2storeys to 7storeys.and there still whinging.
Its now gonna go to court.

Pitty some smart arse counciler person has a bad perspective about it. I mean what do you think he sees when he imagines a crappy 7 storey building when it could be 9 storeys. Maybe hes working for Adelaid!!! you know how they are with their skyscrapers
Its like this :tiasd:
Probably took it a bit far
If i were leader of this reagion i would make sure that their was a highrise wherever possible!

Avatar November 15th, 2006, 01:29 PM For those that don't know. Brooks as a mayor of gosford in the 70s apparently used his power within council to have the swamp-land at wyoming rezoned (near the tracks). The land that was rezoned and was owned by him and then sold off to developers. The land would never pass a hydrologist survey, it's flood prone! He owned the fucking land and it's even got a road named after him. Brooks Avenue! Apparently this info is well known and I knew nothing of it until I complained about this poptart.
He is a corrupt old fuckwit with no concern for the future of the region. All he says is no tall buildings and yes population cap, that and yes to a Parisien slendour, he had to eat his words when La Dafence was pointed out to him! Fucking gold. I actually pt a large submission to GC regarding tall buildings and gosford and had a representative from the chamber of commerce very on side, anyone who wants growth for the coast is against this old coote.
I wish he would just pop off and give the poor region some peace.

Possibly depending on the quality of images of the gong that can be found and used. The higher the res the better. I know they plan the tallies in Wollongong around Wollongong central and the station, yeah i would also need whatever info is available to make it semi realistic.
The Gosford one is a bit tongue in cheek with the fast ferry - it's more a dig at councellors than anything else :P
Fabian November 17th, 2006, 03:26 AM Good vision Av. Thats how Gosford should be.

powlie November 20th, 2006, 08:37 AM It seems as though the poll on the Express's website has closed!
I think it was floating in between the 74% yes / 26% no area... that should show Brooks.
Hopefully we will get an article on Wednesday saying how pro-development the public seems to be, when the 'public' was mainly a bunch of pro-development geeks from all four corners of the world!!
I reckon this poll shows how people can truly make a difference by sitting on their asses
Great job everyone! :applause: :applause:
CULWULLA November 20th, 2006, 09:17 AM yes, poll closed sunday night. looking forward to poll results with baited breathe lol.i think anything over 70% equates to a win win situation. the council will think that ocals are for taller bldgs. couldnt ask for more.
Cell.Phone November 20th, 2006, 11:17 AM They will probably end up doing a local news storey or poll only in the gosford reagion and it might blow this whole concept of tricking that bastard brookes into beliving CC wants high rise. If so i will chuck a giant fit! >:(

Hopefully the poll will force him to rethink his position and it will give weight to others to force him into retirement. He is not popular and many people on the Coast apparently dislike him. I'm guessing its the septegenarians and octogenarians that love him so much.
powlie November 24th, 2006, 10:44 PM I heard something interesting on the radio the other morning. Apparently, the government needs more public written replies to win over NIMBY's and approve the plan. It seems that a few members of council and parliament are getting set to oppose the plan (three guesses they are talking about Brook's and his crew) if Sartor cannot prove that there is enough public support for the plan. Apparently our poll wasn't enough.
Speaking of the poll, have the results been printed in the newspaper yet? I haven't seen anything, and I'm afraid all our hard work has gone in vain.
Well, it seems we need to get writing! :pepper:

powlie November 30th, 2006, 10:09 PM I was walking past the old Spurbest site on Mann Street yesterday and there was a billboard there announcing a new DA approved mixed-use tower as well as a fairly large retail podium. Since I was in a rush and didn't have my camera, I didn't get much information, but I did notice that it will feature 210 apartments. It is a sleek tower, very nice, with a lot of glass and a nice little spire.
It's being sorted out by L.J Hooker, but I scoured the website and no rendering seemed to be available, I might e-mail them... but last time I did that I was hounded for months to buy a property -_-"
The next chance I'll have to get down there is Monday, I'll see if I'll have time to get a photo and collect information off the board. However, if anyone is going down there, be sure to have a look, the billboard is just off the old County Council building.
Cheers!
CULWULLA November 30th, 2006, 10:39 PM ^wow, that sounds promising. How high did tower look? Spurbest were going for 22storeys but i think 15st was agreed apon.
ill see if i have time this weekend
powlie November 30th, 2006, 11:23 PM Yeah, it couldn't have been any higher than the 15 floors. It looks to be a much better design then Spurbest too, and I don't think it takes up that whole lot, which leaves room to other development. By the looks of things the development will take place on the old County Council site and the site directly next to it on the station side.
Just another thing to add, I just got one of the local newspapers, the Community News and read a very interesting article written by anti-development pain-in-the-ass Margaret Pontifex, a well known headache on the Mountains plateau area. It goes:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Regarding Gosford City Centre Plans.
The following are comments I've gathered from the members of some 15 committees on the Central Coast (Gosford area) that I'm a part of:-
1. Like the idea of a plan for Gosford at last! Unlike the development driven disasters of the past.
2. Concept of precincts for recreation, culture, town centre, medical health is great.
3.Concept for 22 story building height definitely not acceptable for the following reasons:
(a) democratic right. We voted for 7 or 8 stories ONLY.
(b)We don't want to be America's puppets. Most other nations have huge, ugly, unhealthy buildings and especially NOT in tourist centres.
(c) Gosford has very unique natural features - a mass of water surrounded by steep hills - high rise doesn't fit!
(d) Air movement off the water WILL cause unbearably strong winds amongst the buildings.
(e) High rise are terrorist targets.
(f) Tourism is Gosford's best employment opportunity. Look at world tourist hot spots. Those with a different feature and NO high rise stand out! Who goes to Chatswood or Airlie Beach?
(g) Ever tried to park in Gosford?
We would prefer to travel to work, and come home to a nice, safe, healthy Gosford to live/raise our families. Should planning ever catch up with the necessary infrastructure, we would be glad to share our special city with tourists!
Hopefully,
Margaret Pontifex.
---
I reckon we should fight back! No offense to anyone who might actually like Pontifex here, but she is a f****** old dog who needs to choke on her own false teeth, then get slammed by a speeding train.
Damn her!
Grr.
EDIT: Did I mention she was the anti-christ? Maybe we could petition her ass into playing a bit of "dodge the speeding bus" on the Cahill in peak hour :gunz:
James Saito December 1st, 2006, 03:55 AM (f) Tourism is Gosford's best employment opportunity. Look at world tourist hot spots. Those with a different feature and NO high rise stand out! Who goes to Chatswood or Airlie Beach?
She is so ignorant. Hasn't she seen Gold Coast, the biggest tourist spot in Australia before?
How about Dubai? Miami?
NY and HongKong are very big in tourism too.
A landmark tower with an observation deck gonna attract loads of tourists, no doubt.
powlie December 1st, 2006, 04:42 AM If you didn't think the remark about tourism was bad enough, you should have seen me rofling when I read the statement about terrorism.

powlie December 1st, 2006, 05:35 AM I don't know about the electric chair, but you can certainly abuse her by emailing the publication this artcle was featured in at this address: cnews@k3s.com.au
She is a highly regarded member of the Gosford community, and regular whinger to GCC... she has power and she is never afraid to use it. The old bag has never really faced any opposition before either, this little saga should prove interesting...
On a lighter note, heres some renderings for a new 178 unit project soon to be constructed on John Whiteway Drv... it's no high-rise but it's very big.

nmuzz December 6th, 2006, 08:08 PM Dear Sir or Madam,
Regarding Gosford City Centre Plans.
Shit! Dya think Alquida knows where Gosford is? What a stupid bitch!
CULWULLA December 6th, 2006, 09:58 PM managed to take these yesterday.
Its a new $1mil cycle/walk bridge just outside woy woy.
The concrete towers rise 22m high and bridge is 90m long.
It is the final section to connect so now there is a cycle/walkway from woy woy to Gosford.

CULWULLA December 8th, 2006, 01:21 PM heres the amended plan for the huge development for Terrigal.
The 65$mil project by RAPEDO will provide 200 construction jobs and 300 permanent. The original approval had 6 bldgs up to 25.5m tall with 90 units/3500sqm commercial. The new application has 2 bldgs going to 28m with 5800sqm commercial and 108 units.
the council staff have recommended to refuse the DA due to size and bulk.
what dickheads.

Fabian December 10th, 2006, 09:56 PM and I also read in the local press that around 40 property owners oppose the development because it will lead to a loss of views and hence a decrease in property values. :bash:
Hard to build anything these days because of so much whinging.
CULWULLA December 10th, 2006, 10:22 PM ^ there all full of shit. the bldg has been designed so there is minimal view loss. Also they reckon it will lower there market value, there probably overpriced now and this will lower it to what there actually worth. wankers.

powlie December 18th, 2006, 10:21 PM You know what I would really like to see happen to Gosford? The expansion of William Street Mall into a new shopping district cut out of the Imperial which would swing around in a kind of horse-shoe shape to link the mall back up with the new city square at Kibble Park, and get a department store such as David Jones to be the main anchor... that's what would bring people back to Gosford, it needs some pizazz!

CULWULLA January 3rd, 2007, 10:32 AM sort of good news for the large site next to Outrigger.
From todays Sun News, sartor has capped the site at 22m which is 6 storeys which means its come down 1 storey from original proposal. The local nimbys wanted it capped at 3storeys.dimwits
hopefully things will get moving now.
article>
ETTALONG CAPPED AT 22 METRES.
Any new buildingon the former Ettalong Memorial Club site will be capped at 22m high, NSW planning minister Frank sartor said.
This is 4.5metres below Gosford councils proposal and is consistent with Peninsual Urban Strategy.
Mr Sartor said thw gazettal of new LEP allows for a comemrcial, retail and residential dev which will harmonize with the town centre. The LEP sets out dev guidlinesfor the northern part of the former club site covering 4,500sqm.
Some public submissions had expressed concern about scale and height of proposal.
These changes also ensure the LEP is consisent with state planning policies.-he said.

Council plan takes a dive
04Jan07
DEMOLISHING Gosford Olympic Pool would be an insult to the region's war dead.
Rupert Wallace said the pool was built as a memorial to those who served and died in World War II and should be accorded the same level of respect as any other war memorial.
Mr Wallace, 84, of Bateau Bay, served as secretary of the War Memorial Pool Committee in the lead-up to the facility's opening in 1955.
For three years, the committee campaigned to have an aquatic centre built at Gosford, holding countless fund-raisers and seeking government grants.
His comments followed reports earlier this month that Gosford Council would consider closing the pool, replacing it with a plan to beautify the city's waterfront.
The waterfront strategy, released for public exhibition on December 15, labelled the pool ``visually poor'' and recommended it be replaced with a marina.
``It's an insult to those who served in the 1939-45 war and it's also an insult to the people of Gosford who backed the war memorial pool committee in their fundraising efforts to have the pool built,'' Mr Wallace said.
``Things change but you just can't discard lightly something that's been dedicated as a war memorial and you can't write off the work that went into raising funds for this.''
He said the crumbling pool should be retained and refurbished.
``Gosford Council wants more facilities on the waterfront and I'm not opposed to that but this pool is very special,'' he said.
``It's there to honour the fallen.''
CULWULLA January 5th, 2007, 03:28 AM ^ i not sure if it is appropriate to leave pool where it is. be better off in another location. the waterfront should be developed to full potential. Im actually swimming there in couple of weeks in masters comp. the pool needs some attention. its 55 years old.

Move the shitty, leaky old pool, which causes gridlock on swimming carnival days. Build a new one in the city centre somewhere ... old youth club site maybe.
Demolish that shitty old school - the kids don't deserve such a prime bit of lad to learn how to add 1+1. I'd get rid of that sorry excuse for a war memorial park too and build them something worth having in remembrance.
Gosford is a shithole and they really need to remove Brooks and go for glory. As for not wanting a Liverpool or Chatswood ... get fecking real. That is EXACTLY what is needed!
lions2006 January 11th, 2007, 09:37 AM Going to Central Coast stadium a few weeks ago, i noticed how old and run down Gosford is. These guys are living in the 60's with the way they carry on. The old pool, school and a few other buildings need a wrecking ball with a few nice new 25 storey office buildings to bring in some big companies too provide work for the people of the Central Coast instead of that long journey into Sydney every day.
the plans for the new waterfont look fantastic.
powlie January 11th, 2007, 09:38 AM I just came on to show everyone that article actually. Why is the newspaper so determined on taking HIS side? It seems that Laurie Maher NEVER gets a fair chance to state his opinions besides a quote or two in every article.
Fabian January 11th, 2007, 09:43 AM Have the council even received the 25 storey DA's??? If they did, we'd know it. They are whinging before they have even considered it.
Gosford is a city and not a country town anymore!!!! No one will ever want to live, work or visit Gosford as the council wont consider anything that will rejuvenate and improve the city.

from todays express advocate
`Big picture' vision for CBD
18Jan07
A NARARA man has come up with his own unique vision for Gosford Central Business District and waterfront.
Design consultant Miles Buffalo has created a design which he said ``fixes the city''.
He has submitted it to Gosford Council during the public exhibition periods for both its CBD and waterfront plans.
Central to the plan is replacing the Gosford Council commuter car park with a large town square and tower.
It links up to Kibble Park and connects with Gosford waterfront by a large boardwalk which runs over Leagues Club field.
The field becomes a large park with awnings, public areas and water features.
The plan employs a sail theme and includes as sail-shaped above-ground glass pool under Brian McGowan Bridge and Sydney Domain-style performance centre just south of a winding marina.
It gets rid of Masons Pde and Dane Drive and puts parking underground.
The award-winning designer said he came up with the plan after returning from work in China.
``Everyone has an opinion about Gosford City the Government is talking about raising building heights, they are talking about the waterfront but no one is looking at the bigger picture,'' he said.
``This is a long-term plan for the city. Gosford needs something to reflect its future, respect is past and provide for the present.''
http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/505/visionck9.jpg
powlie January 18th, 2007, 11:27 PM :omg: HOLY CRAP! That looks incredible and amazing and wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is bound to make some controversy!!! I love the idea of replacing those roads... but does it look a tad extravagant? The boardwalk idea is GREAT in my opinion, and the water front looks incredible! The pool under the bridge will shut the NIMBYS up and the concept of a large public square and tower to replace the parking station looks awesome! However, I hope the tower doesn't look like that... haha. But wow! This is incredible!!!!
I can't wait to hear the responses to this one!!
Cariad January 18th, 2007, 11:32 PM Great idea, but hate to sound pesimistic but that will never happen :o(
powlie January 18th, 2007, 11:36 PM Great idea, but hate to sound pesimistic but that will never happen :o(
I kinda have to agree... but hopefully the council will take some of it on board with their master plan... just look at that marina!!! :eek2:
Cariad January 18th, 2007, 11:53 PM Yeah it is pretty hot and I certainly think it would put them on the map, what a great city it would be !!!
Avatar January 19th, 2007, 01:36 AM Yeah it's an awesome design for a shit city. This is perfect and exactly what Gosford needs, something iconic and original. It's way more extravagant than my photosphop knock-up. I really hope that the council and minister look at this and see the positives in the design. Certainly the boardwalk is an awesome idea.I'd like to see it done in concrete though with a more modern feel ... no wood thanks.
Fabian January 19th, 2007, 09:40 AM The government should employ Buffalo. Very good vision for the CBD. Love the Marina.
powlie January 19th, 2007, 10:19 AM How about a light rail / monorail line right down the boardwalk from the station to the marina? I think that would look awesome.
Avatar January 19th, 2007, 10:47 AM Monorail was proposed by a mayor a long time ago, to link Erina Fair with Gosford, nothing became of it. I think they should go futuristic with gosford and install things like a cheezy monorail, anything is better than what's there now and lets face it, there is nothing of heritage significance in reality. They also have to get over protecting the natural ridgeline vistas of the coast and allow development to go higher then either Presidents Hill or Rumbalara. Its a shocker that they thing protecting these two hills from the city is doing the region a favour. It's not, its stopping the place developing as it should.
Twin tunnels will be expensive as shown on that vision.
CULWULLA January 22nd, 2007, 02:21 AM a $150,000 3D model of terrigal has been given go-ahead by council due to confusion over proposed developements. This way it will give locals a better idea of planned projects. they should do one of Ettalong and Gosford too.
Avatar January 22nd, 2007, 04:53 AM 150,000 is extravagant.
