I was wondering what it would take for Tampa to have a Welcome to Tampa sign like Orlando, Daytona Beach and Jacksonville. Obviously it would take tax dollars, but Tampa does not have any sign now on I-4 telling you your in Tampa, just one on 275 south with the bland green interstate standard. Here is Orlando ...I can't find Jacksonville or the one on the Interstate near Daytona, but those who have been N or S on I-95 Jacksonville or Daytona recently know what i am talking about...

I guess there has never been a demand for it.

Coming to Tampa from I-4 leaves a lot to be desired. The city limit on the east side of the city is all old industrial buildings. I don't think the city is in a rush to brag to tourists about that particular part of town.

I think a good location would be along the three bridges coming from the west. From those locations you enter into very appealing parts of town, though Gandy still isn't the best looking, particularly along the water front on the south side.

I-4 Should have a Ybor Gate or something. But I think about this everytime I drive down I-4 in Orlando.

Along the Selmon in Brandon might be worthwhile someday... There are a lot of apartments and such going up around it... It's still nothing to look at, but at least it isn't a hellhole, like much of the rest of the trip along I-4 or the Selmon is through East Tampa.

Maybe someday around the area around I-4/I-75, Hard Rock, Fairgrounds will be attractive?

It's the little things that count that build up to bigger things for our area. I-4/75 area is the best spot near Hardrock.

Are there any straight underpasses at or within the Tampa city limits on any of the freeways?

I could see signs like the "Welcome to Chicago" signs on I-275 coming in from the north and south, as well as I-4 from the east.

I could see a sign like the "Orlando" sign for St. Pete at the 54th Avenue N interchange or the proposed future 102nd Avenue N interchage that would lead to the Toytown redevelopment.

Maybe the confederate flag people might want to add another sign of southern hospitality...

I would think that such a sign for St Petersburg would be up at the Roosevelt interchange, since that's close to where the city limits are, or maybe even up at the Ulmerton/9th or 4th St overpasses...

I still have my fingers crossed that Mother Nature will take care of that flag and flag poll.

That will probably end up being where it'll be I bet if it were ever to be built

Add it to the parking garage/hotel expansion on Hard Rock. Could have it on the big screen that they plan to add.
