Buddy Holly September 6th, 2009, 05:29 PM Ne vertet nuk jam askush, por e kam te drejten te shprehi opionionin time, me gjithe se ja teperova pak, cka e thash edhe me heret. por nuk ke nevoje ti dalesh cikes zot, sepse ajo duhet te kunderpergjigjet.
Ti sillesh verdalle dhe i akuzon edhe tjeret e jo vetem ciken.
Une e kam nje nacionalizem te smure? Pse dhe cka eshte nacionalizmi i shendosh?
Paj psh me ardh me jetu ne Kosove e jo ne Austri. Me ardh me kontribu ketu ne menyra te ndryshme e jo me shkrujt pallavra prej Austrise.
Une po te them se ti s'je kurkushi ketu me i akuzu njerezit per tradheti, sidomos nese nuk din as shqip me fol mire e jeton ne Austrine e rehatshme. Me pas qene ti aq patriot sa na shitesh, kishe ardh me jetu ketu me gjithe problemet me te cilat ballafaqohen njerezit.

Me duket qe ky eshte problem i madh ne shoqerin tone.

Sidomos gjeneratat e reja, ndihen me te afert me Shqiperine. Sidomos tani kane arsye sepse Kosova ska njohje te shumta. Nese neser Kosova eshte antare e UN, kjo ide duhet te harrohet.
Plisat September 7th, 2009, 01:52 PM Zėri i Kosovės
Prej tash, kosovarėt do tė kenė mundėsi tė vendosin mė shumė copėza nė mozaikun e imazhit tė tyre ndėrkombėtar. Nė tetor, mediat globale do ta transmetojnė reklamėn e parė tė projektit pėr fuqizimin e imazhit pozitiv tė Kosovės. Edhe ne jemi botė.
Nga Artan Behrami mė 07.09.2009 nė ora 8:21
Tentimet e pėrhapjes sė paragjykimeve tė ndryshme pėr kosovarėt si njerėz gjaknxehtė, tė prapambetur, kriminelė, fundamentalistė apo terroristė, shumė shpejt pritet tė marrin njė pėrgjigje adekuate mediale tė pėrmasave globale.
Prej tetorit, bota do tė ketė mundėsi ta shohė njė imazh bashkėkohor tė popullit me moshėn mė tė re mesatare nė Evropė. Kosovarėt do tė paraqiten energjikė, bashkėkohorė, tė arsimuar dhe mbi tė gjitha, tė pavarur. Pėr kėtė do tė pėrkujdeset kompania mė e suksesshme amerikane pėr marrėdhėnie me publikun - Saatchi & Saatchi, qė tashmė identifikohet me sloganin e njohur I Love New York.
Pėrmes reklamave televizive qė do tė transmetohen nė televizionet mė tė mėdha ndėrkombėtare, rrėfimet pėr popullin dhe bukuritė e Kosovės pėr herė tė parė do pėrfaqėsohen edhe nga vetė kosovarėt.
Janė kryer shumė punė, janė caktuar logot, sloganet, tash jemi nė fazėn kur do ti bėjmė xhirimet, qė do tė ndodhė kah mesi i kėtij muaji, thotė Tahiri.
Sipas tij, nė fund tė shtatorit gjithēka do tė jetė gati. Nė tetor pritet qė kjo reklamė tė transmetohet nė media tė ndryshme ndėrkombėtare.
Ndėrkohė, Express mėson se pjesė e reklamės sė parė do tė jenė rreth 200 tė rinj kosovarė, tė cilėt tash e disa ditė janė duke pėrzgjedhur pėrmes njė konkursi. Tė gjithė kėta tė rinj pėr njė ditė do tė shndėrrohen nė aktorė. Kompania Saatchi & Saatchi ka pėrzgjedhur njė regjisor shumė tė njohur pėr ta realizuar reklamėn qė do tė zgjasė rreth njė minutė e gjysmė.
Nė tė kryesisht do tė shihen tė rinj kosovarė, bukuritė e qyteteve dhe tė natyrės sė Kosovės, por gjithashtu nuk do tė harrohet asnjė pjesė e hidhur e historisė sonė. Nė tė Kosova do tė paraqitet si njė vend me njė popullatė tė re, energjike dhe tė gatshme pėr ta ndėrtuar shtetin e ri europian. Reklama do tė xhirohet me pajisje shumė moderne. Nuk do tė ketė fjalime, por vetėm njė muzikė qė do ti pėrcjellė pamjet e lėvizshme pėrmes tė cilave do tė tregohet rrėfimi pėr Kosovėn.
Por, pėr tė pėrmirėsuar imazhin e Kosovės nė botė krahas reklamave televizive do tė ketė edhe reportazhe nėpėr magazinat e famshme ndėrkombėtare.
Memli Krasniqi, zėdhėnės i Qeverisė sė Kosovės, thotė se Kėshilli Ndėrministror ka vendosur pėr kėtė koncept nga njė numėr i madh zgjedhjesh qė janė ofruar prej kompanisė amerikane. Krasniqi konfirmon se xhirimet e reklamės sė parė do tė fillojnė javėn e ardhshme.
Qėllimi ėshtė popullarizimi i Kosovės, pėrmirėsimi i imazhit tė Kosovės dhe realizimi i njė fushate mediale ndėrkombėtare nė media tė ndryshme, thekson ai.
Krasniqi tregon se nė kėto reklama do tė rrėfehet pėr Kosovėn si njė shtet i ri, si njė vend i sigurt pėr investime, etj. Me tė Kosova shpreson qė tė ndikojė edhe nė ato vende qė deri mė tani kanė hezituar ta pranojnė shpalljen e pavarėsisė.
As Krasniqi nuk pranon tė flasė pėr pėrmbajtjen e reklamės sė parė, e cila pritet tė transmetohet sė shpejti nėpėr mediat mė me ndikim nė botė.
Kompania Saatchi & Saatchi
Kompania ka rreth 150 zyra nė 86 shtete tė ndryshme tė botės. Ka afro 6000 punėtorė. Kryetari i kompanisė ėshtė Bob Seelert.

NeilPryde1 September 25th, 2009, 09:38 AM I find European music to just so fascinating. Every where you go in Europe the music changes its an unforgettable experience. There is such an array of artists and rhythms the vocals are pretty cool as well.
I have never heard Albanian music but I would like to absolutely. Trying out different types of music and experiencing the culture is one thing I could do for the rest of my life. Just imagine if there was a job that would pay you to travel and experience culture. I would take the job in an instant that would be among the greatest jobs anyone can do in a lifetime.
7t September 25th, 2009, 10:26 AM Hi there,
What type of music are you looking for specifically?
I can recommend you some really good artists that are worth listening to.
If you're interested in music from the 50s and 60s then check out artists like Vaēe Zela, Tefta Tashko Koēo and Gaqo Ēako.
If you're interested in today's music that has regional folk influences, then I'd recommend names like Eli Fara, Ardian Trebicka, Poni... etc
If you're looking for just pop/rock/soft/alternative music then artists like Aleksandėr Gjoka, Ardit Gjebrea, Pirro Ēako, Eranda Libohova, Besa Kokėdhima, Alban Skėnderaj, Elvana Gjata perform some really good quality music. Not all of them can be found on youtube though. Fajtori (http://www.fajtori.com) is a good site that offers at least some of the names you can't find in popular video sharing sites. Click on the first tab "Muzikė" on the menu bar to find the list.
Hope that helps:)

Prishtinė, 1 tetor 2009 Ministri i Kulturės, Rinisė dhe Sportit, z. Valton Beqiri, i shoqėruar nga Zėvendėsministrja, znj. Lirije Kajtazi, vizitoi lokalitetin arkeologjik tė Ulpianės, nė tė cilin pėrfundoi konservimi i sarkofagut monumental, i cili para mė shumė se njė viti ishte dėmtuar nga persona tė panjohur.
Krahas konservimit tė sarkofagut, nė kėtė lokalitet, gjatė kėsaj periudhe, janė kryer edhe gjurmime nė Memorien Veriore, ku ėshtė bėrė konservimi, restaurimi dhe rizbulimi i memories veriore - varrezės sė njerėzve tė shquar tė qytetit antik tė Ulpianės.
Me kėtė rast, Ministri Beqiri tha se vitin e kaluar premtuam se do ta konservojmė kėtė lokalitet antik tė rėndėsisė sė veēantė, duke shtuar se ndjehet i lumtur qė sot po i sheh rezultatet konkrete tė kėtij premtimi dhe kėtij investimi.
Mė tutje, ai tha se Kosova ėshtė mjaft e pasur me lokalitete arkeologjike dhe se, pothuaj, nė ēdo cep tė saj ka eksponate dhe vendbanime antike, tė cilat duhet tė gjurmohen, tė konservohen dhe tė promovohen nė funksion tė interesit tonė kombėtar dhe shtetėror. Fakti se gjatė gjurmimeve tė fundit nė disa lokalitete tė ndryshme janė kryer gėrmime dhe janė zbuluar gjetje tė rėndėsishme, na e shton pėrgjegjėsinė dhe obligimin qė tė vazhdojmė me investime tė tjera nė fushėn e arkeologjisė.
Ndėrkaq, Drejtori i Institutit tė Monumenteve dhe i Muzeut Rajonal tė Prishtinės, arkeologu Haxhi Mehmetaj, e njohu nga afėr Minsitrin Beqiri me rezultatet e ekspeditės arkeologjike dymujore nė Ulpianė. Konservimi dhe gjurmimi i Memories Veriore, tha ai, ka nxjerr nė pah njė varg tė dhėnash tė reja pėr tė cilat nuk kemi patur njohuri mė parė nga gjurmimet paraprake tė viteve tė 60 tė shekullit XX, ngase dokumentacioni i gjurmimeve kishte humbur.

In a 30-mile distance, dozens of cyclists, including those who love to run, started a marathon to promote cultural heritage, starting from the town of Junik to Hoēė tė Madhe of Rahovec.
The purpose of this tournament, according to the organizers of the event, is to promote cultural heritage through a pure environment. A Swedish organization, Cultural Heritage without Borders (CHwB), has used this tour to promote values created from past year's cultural events in the Republic of Kosovo.
CHwB has been engaged in capacity development in the heritage sector in Kosovo since 2001, in close cooperation with the Kosovo Ministry of Culture, in order to support their policy for the protection of the Kosovo heritage. The overall objectives have been to achieve a more professional management of the heritage in Kosovo in accordance with international standards,
and to strengthen the heritage institutions.
Sali Shoshi, director of the organization in the Republic of Kosovo, reveals details of this project, preparations that began two months ago. "This cultural awareness was organized today and starts from Junik, passing Gjakova, to Hoēė tė Madhe of Rahovec," says Shoshi. The most interesting and exciting things about this event are the stops we are going to make along the way. "We are going to stop in Gjakova and Rahovec to observe and learn the architecture, objects, and historical areas," adds Shoshi. According to him, this event does not just stop at the mere observation of these cultural sites. It all starts with "the idea to promote cultural heritage through it's recognition of the Republic of Kosovo," he states.

kosovania October 14th, 2009, 06:29 PM Kosovo, as the world’s newest nation, is off the radar for most travelers as a vacation destination. The country offers everything that you seek, however. The capital, Pristina, is full of excellent food, quality hotels and bustling streets, and the outlying lands offer rolling hills filled with historic fortresses, mosques and churches in addition to the living history of the fighting Serbs and Albanians. And if you’re nervous about how you will be received as an American, don’t be. This is the only country to date in which I’ve received genuine thumbs up for my ethnicity.
The easiest way to get into Kosovo is by plane. Tripology travel agents can help you find deals on flights to Pristina whenever you go, though it is recommended to visit during the summer months.
Once you’ve arrived, head down to Bill Clinton Boulevard, the main avenue in the city. A few blocks down the road, in front of the Grand Hotel lies the intersection with Mother Theresa, a native Albanian. As you walk through the main roads of downtown you will come across a few landmarks. The massive orange “Newborn” sign was erected in 2008 after Kosovo declared independence, and stands in front of the Youth and Sports building. The library is a daunting metal structure with white cupolas donning the top. Adjacent is an unfinished Serbian Orthodox Church (the barbed wire surrounding it one of the many reminders of the recent fighting). The Kosovo Museum is worth a visit, as are many of the city’s mosques and bazaar.
When your legs require a rest, join the masses at any one of the myriad coffee shops. With unemployment rates sky high in recent years, they are always full of well dressed locals attempting to pass the time.
Before you know it dinner has arrived. As the city is packed with UN and other government officials, your options for eating are first rate. Whether you choose to enjoy local delights or classic Indian, Thai, or Italian, there are eateries of all styles in Pristina. And with over 50% of the population under 25, you can expect significant nightlife.
The city itself can be covered in a few days, though no Kosovo vacation is complete without some day trips. Just 1-2 hours out lay the cities of Peja (Pec in Serbian) and Prizren. The green, tranquil landscape of Peja will offer you a day in the mountains away from the starkness of Pristina, and Prizren offers an Ottoman charm hard to be beat elsewhere in Kosovo.
If you are visiting Kosovo as part of a larger Balkans trip, have them stamp a carton instead of putting the Kosovar stamp directly into your passport. It will save you loads of hassle later, though regardless of what’s stamped it is not possible to enter Serbia from the Kosovo border.

"RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible
Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves. The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo."

I think they a chance. We have great singers and its another way to sort of advertise the INDEPENDENT country (and another way to get serbia out of the competition:lol::lol:)
The problem here is where would they host the show if they one?

Vlen tė theksohet se para industrialistėve mė tė fuqishėm botėrorė tė turizmit u editua spoti publicitar i Kosovės "Kosovo, the young European".

Kostoja mesatare e nje filmi Hollywood dy oresh eshte mesatarisht 33 milion euro (rreth 50 million dollar) produksioni zgjat rreth nje vit dhe kostoja permbledh pagesat e gjithe film crew sebashku me aktoret.
Mbase kjo kosto qe ka paguar qeveria e Kosoves permbledh edhe reklamimet neper kanalet e njohura televizive, nese eshte dicka e tille atehere ka me teper kuptim pasi reklamimet neper kanalet e botes jane marremendese!

5.7 milion euro jane per dy vjet, dhe shpenzimet dyvjecare per reklamim ne CNN, BBC, Newsweek, The Economist, etj. Kjo reklame, dhe reklama tjera me kete teme, do te shtypen edhe neper gazeta prestigjioze. Kjo e para eshte reklame vetem fillestare (introductory) pas se ciles do pasojne reklama me tema tjera (turizem, investime, etj). 5.7 milion euro per 2 vjet reklamim kualitativ ne mediumet me te medha boterore s'me duket edhe aq shume.

The International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) has for the first time invited the Football Association of Kosovo (FFK) to attend a meeting as the representative of a sovereign state, alongside Serbia.
This, according to the chairman of the FFK, Fadil Vokrri,is avery positive development for Kosovo football. FIFA President Sepp Blatter has invited the chairman of the FFK, Fadil Vokrri, to a meeting early next month at the headquarters of FIFA in Zurich, Switzerland. In addition to meeting with Blatter, Vokrri will meet the Deputy chairman, Geoff Thompson, who is additionally a senior executive of the European Football Federation (UEFA).
"It is very positive for Kosovar football to be invited by FIFA as a sovereign state. We insist the meeting will be realized, that our demands are known. We are joining the international associations of football, then recognition pf the International Certificate of FFK, enabling Kosovar clubs appear in international competitions and allowing Kosovo teams to hold friendly matches with other national teams," Vokrri told Koha Ditore.
"I can not speak for results that come out of this meeting. We are not decision-makers. The results of the meeting will be known later. The fact that the meeting is occuring is very positive," said Vokrri. He stated that he has informed the Kosovar government about the meeting, and has been given its full support.
Even though Kosovo meets all the requirements to join FIFA, the membership has been pending, facing unreasonable political challenges, many of which are irrelevant to the sport itself. Many international players have called for Kosovo's membership and offered support for it join the International Federation of Football Association. Kosovo has a potential to field a strong team, considering the number of its players (Cana, Behrami, Kuqi, Curri, etc) that currently play in the European leagues. Many of its players, unable to play for Kosovo, have joined the teams of neighboring Albania where 6 of its 11 players are from Kosovo and other Western Euopean countries.
The Republic of Kosovo is a sovereign state located in Southeastern Europe.

That is not a good article. He did not do a good job of concluding his trip. Also the artical is historicaly one sided and makes Albanians seem like imigrants to Kosova "Its true, and usually alongside the double-headed-eagle flag of the Albanians motherland." Motherland?!?!?!?!??!?!?! For example it never talks about Illyrians just about "Serbian historical events" which werent explained truthfully for example the battle of 1389 he described it as a Serbian battle even though Albanians, Croatians, and Hungarians fought in it too. The writer should of informed himself about the history of Kosova. Very ignorant.
kosovania November 9th, 2009, 10:14 PM --"Ugly, battered and mismanaged, Pristina is the city many of us love to hate. It's grey, dusty, traffic-clogged and has a miserable climate - yet many foreigners live, work and party here very comfortably, and at pretty good rates. Travellers who are willing to look behind the grey facades will find enough interesting sights and some very good restaurants and bars. Last but not least there's the friendliness and curiosity of the local population"--

Pejoni December 2nd, 2009, 04:23 PM American Tourism Society to hold historic first-ever tourism conference in Kosovo

By eTN Staff Writer | Dec 01, 2009
Phil Otterson, president, American Tourism Society (ATS), announced that the ATS Fall 2010 Conference will be held in Pristina, Kosovos capital, from October 25-27, 2010. This ATS-organized event In Kosovo, which only gained its independence in February 28, 2008, will be the first-ever tourism conference to be held in the newborn country.
Kosovo is a perfect example of what ATSs mission is about, said Otterson, assisting transformational destinations with tourism marketing skills, training through the onsite ATS tourism college program, and educating ATS members about the newest destinations. Now, ATS contributions to the host country have been further strengthened through our recent partnerships with [the] National Tour Association (NTA) and Tourism Cares.
ATS is using the platform of the USTOA Annual Conference and Marketplace in Banff, Canada, December 8-10, 2009, to roll out the promotional campaign for this historic event. The official ATS announcement follows the formal invitation made by Kosovo host, Bujar Kuji, director, the Republic of Kosovo Ministry of Trade and Industry Department of Tourism, at the closing of the recent ATS Fall 2009 conference held in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.
At the ATS 2010 Fall Conference, NTA will co-sponsor the post-conference new product development tour to Southern Kosovo and Tirana, Albania, October 28-31, and Tourism Cares will organize as part of the ATS program, its second annual local community service project for ATS delegates. The ATS Tourism College, which has received accolades from past host country tourism professionals, university professors, and students alike, will involve local university students in special sessions and as invited guests to the ATS conference.
ABOUT ATS - PRESENTING TOMORROW'S DESTINATIONS
The American Tourism Society (ATS) was established in 1989 by a group of US tourism industry executives to provide exclusive access, business networking, and promotion for transformational destinations. It is a nonprofit, nonpolitical travel industry organization whose membership includes experienced tour operators, destination tourist offices, hotels, airlines, and other travel industry professionals. Collectively, ATS members generate over US$5 billion in sales involving three million North American travelers. ATS holds an Annual Fall Conference and a Tourism College hosted by a different member destination each year; conducts travel marts and seminars in the US for its members; and has a website www.americantourismsociety.org . Sipas kryetares sė pėrgjithshme tė Teatrit Kombėtar tė Kosovės, punimet e mėhershme pėr renovimin e Teatrit ishin ndėrprerė pasi qė nuk ishte gjetur njė gjuhė bashkėpunimi midis arkitektėve dhe kompanisė TOSI lidhur me materialin ndėrtimor qė ka pėrdorė kompania nė fjalė. Sido qė tė jetė, Berisha bėri tė ditur se, kompania TOSI nga Peja pėrsėri ka marrė pėrsipėr punėn pėr riparimin e kėtij objekti. Berisha, ėshtė shprehur se, riparimi i kulmit tė Teatrit ėshtė kėrkesė e kohės, dhe se sipas saj, sot po punohet me kapacitete tė plotė nė kėtė drejtim. Duke marrė parasysh se jemi nė kohė dimri dhe ēatia po pikė mund tė kemi edhe dėmtime tė tjera brenda Teatrit, andaj riparimi i kulmit ėshtė kėrkesė emergjente qė duhet tė pėrfundohet sa mė shpejt ka pohuar ajo, pėrderisa ka treguar se pėrveē riparimit tė pjesėve tė ndryshme tė Teatrit do tė bėhen edhe disa ndryshime brenda tij. Salla e baletit do tė shndėrrohet nė skenė tė vogėl, ndėrsa restoranti i objektit do tė shndėrrohet nė sallė tė baletit, pastaj do tė ndėrtohen dy dhoma pėr mysafir tė cilėt janė aktorė dhe regjisorė ndėrkombėtar vazhdon nė prononcimin saj Berisha. DanMs February 5th, 2010, 12:13 AM US tourism society packs its bags for Kosovo
Linda Karadaku for Southeast European Times in Pristina -- 04/02/10
Culture, history and hospitality are some of the major draws Kosovo offers tourists, American Tourism Society President Phil Otterson tells Southeast European Times in an exclusive interview.
The ATS plans to hold a fall conference in Kosovo to promote the emerging tourism destination.
SETimes: When does the American Tourism Society plan to organise a tourism conference in Pristina and what will be its format?
Phil Otterson: The 2010 American Tourism Society conference is planned for October. The event will take place in Pristina and will begin on October 25th and will last until October 28th.On October 28th, a post-conference tour will begin in Pristina, continuing on to Pec/Peja for one night and then to Tirana, Albania for two nights.
SETimes: Why did you choose to host the ATS conference in Kosovo?
Otterson: Kosovo was chosen for the conference because the association works to develop tourism opportunities in emerging or "transformational" destinations -- those less visited by Americans, or in the case of Kosovo, by any tourists. There is real opportunity for growth in Kosovo's tourism sector, and we aim to assist in that growth by promoting Kosovo and holding our conference in Pristina.
SETimes: What does Kosovo offer foreign tourists?
Otterson: The beauty of Kosovo, especially in the regions south and southwest of Pristina offer a lot to the international tourist. Also, the natural friendliness of the people and the excitement of being able to visit multiple emerging Balkan countries, it all combines into the making of an interesting destination.
SETimes: Is this only for Kosovo or for Kosovo and Albania?
Otterson: As mentioned, the ATS Conference will he held in Pristina, but the post-conference tour will be held in southern Kosovo and northern Albania, with two overnights in Tirana.
SETimes: What do you find fascinating about Kosovo that would attract American tourists?
Otterson: The culture, the history and the beauty of the countryside.
SETimes: Do you see Kosovo and Albania as important future tourist destinations?
Otterson: Over the longer term, yes. However, the safety perceptions and the infrastructure must be improved upon first.
SETimes: What can be done to promote Kosovo tourism abroad?
Otterson: The government is getting a good start this year with major promotions. Getting out the real story of Kosovo -- and not allowing the unfair perception of a war-torn dysfunctional country to proliferate -- is essential. In addition, having ATS promote the country as we market our conference will also go a long way to help promote Kosovo. Once we bring Americans to the country, they will spread the word.

16 February 2010 | NATO’s Kosovo Force, KFOR, will continue to guard the cultural and historical monuments in Kosovo, KFOR Commander Lieutenant General Markus J. Bentler told media today.
“The role of the Kosovo security forces is not to guard anything at all. Their task has no link to the protection of the cultural monuments. They are very different forces, lightly armed and their only role is humanitarian, such as putting out fires, mine removal and the removal of dangerous substances, search and rescue,” Bentler explained, cited by the Belgrade-based B92 radio.
The defense of the monuments of culture in Kosovo, according to the commander, will be taken over by the Kosovo Police Service, KPS, after consultations and appropriate preparations.
As BalkanTravellers.com wrote in December, the transferral of the protection of the Serbian Orthodox monasteries in Kosovo from KFOR to the KPS is strongly opposed by the country’s Serbian minority, which does not recognize the newly-formed institutions.

24.02.2010
Nė ceremoninė e nėnshkrimit ishte i pranishėm edhe Drejtori i Institutit Arkeologjik, z. Enver Rexhaj.
Me kėtė rast, Ministri Valton Beqiri tha se nėnshkrimi i kėtij memorandumi me Fondacionin RAS, pėrmes pėrkrahjes dhe bashkėpunimit tė ndėrsjellė, do ta ndihmojė fushėn e trashėgimisė kulturore nė Kosovė. Ky memorandum, shtoi ai, pėrveq mbėshtetjes me karakter shkencor, ofron edhe ngritjen e kapaciteteve nė fushėn e trashėgimisė kulturore.
Ndėrkaq, Drejtori Dr. Enzo Longobardi, nėnshkrimin e kėsaj marrėveshjeje e cilėsoi si njė akt mjaft tė rėndėsishėm, sepse, siē tha ai, do tė shkėmbehen pėrvojat dhe, nė veēanti, do tė mbėshtetet fusha a e arkeologjisė nė Kosovė nga Fondacioni RAS, i cili ėshtė njė nga fondacionet mė tė rėndėsishme nė nivel botėror.

hakz2007 March 9th, 2010, 04:50 PM Cultural investments in Artanė (http://www.newkosovareport.com/Culture-and-Sports/)
A meeting was held in Artanė at the castle, located in near Kosovo's capital Prishtina with a population of a little over 3,000, to promote and support the cultural and historical values of the city. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sportse, Valton Beqiri, and Chairman of the Municipal Assembly of Artanė, Bajrush Ymeri.
On this occasion, Minister Beqiri, by promoting and supporting this cultural heritage gathering, stressed that preservation and promotion of the cultural cities in Kosovo are a priority of the MCYS, and that includes Artanė. He also emphasized that MCYS has allocated 40,000 euros in 2009 and 100,000 euros in 2010 for a project study of Artanė. Despite the limited budget, he added, in the future, MCYS will be engaged to carry out projects to prosper and promote the heritage and values of historic sites. The Mayor of Artanė, Ymeri, also stressed that the castle of Artanė, as well as other sites, are of special importance not only for the community but for the whole of Kosovo. Currently, he added, Artanė is committed to the development of rural tourism, and since the establishment of the Tourist Center in the region and the investment of CARE International, the community has already seen positive results.
In addition, ICO representative, Alessandro Leone, said the ICO would support efforts to preserve cultural heritage values but also the development of cultural tourism, which has already produced concrete result.

PRISTINA, Kosovo This Balkan city is perhaps the ugliest, and most fun, capital in Europe.
Once synonymous with war and ethnic tensions, Pristina is now the peaceful, vibrant, and fast-growing seat of government for Kosovo, the worlds newest country after its leaders declared its independence from Serbia in 2008.
The city still faces challenges the prevalence of white United Nations SUVs on the streets attests to the international communitys continued monitoring of relations between ethnic Albanians and Kosovos 7 percent ethnic Serb minority, for example. But visitors cant help but feel the optimism and energy of Kosovars determined to put their worst days behind them.
After the 1999 US-led bombing campaign that brought an end to atrocities in the then-breakaway province, an intervention that makes Americans particularly welcome here, Pristina doubled in size to around half a million people.
Young people flocked to reopened schools and jobs in international organizations, while many unskilled adults took advantage of the cease-fire to seek better-paying work abroad. Coupled with Kosovar Albanians high birth rates, the migrations resulted in the average age of Kosovo residents dropping to around 26 today.
Where there are twentysomethings, there are wild times, and Pristina is home to high-end bars, chic clubs, and quality restaurants.
Its a dynamic city with lots of opportunities, a lot of great night life, said Diell Bakalli, 24.
Asked about the 1999 war, Bakalli scoffed. Its, like, 10 years ago, he said. Weve gone past it a long time ago. Nobody talks about war or conflict anymore.
We met Bakalli on Perandori Justinian Street, a narrow road a couple of blocks south of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, or UNMIK, and the Grand Hotel Pristina, the tallest buildings in the center of the city.
Both glass-and-concrete towers typify Pristinas architecture. Theyre hideous. Its hard to reconcile the citys lively social scene with such poured-concrete monstrosities, but the contrast shows how Kosovos present is leaving behind its past as a provincial town in communist Yugoslavia.
The names of many streets in Kosovo have changed over the years, switching from Yugoslav times, when ethnic differences were played down, to Serbian names in the 1990s and then to Albanian today. Its best to strike out from the UNMIK and the Grand Hotel and ask Kosovars, who usually speak English, for directions when youre in the vicinity of your destination.
Bars, clubs, and restaurants line Perandori Justinian, in the Pejton neighborhood (pronounced Peyton), which teems with people most nights.
The Paper Club was my favorite. Slick and decorated in minimalist white, it sported swings suspended from ropes hanging from the ceiling instead of chairs at the bar. On a Saturday evening, it was packed with tall, dark-haired women and well-dressed men who appeared more corporate, or at least more like employees of nongovernment organizations, than the macho types one typically encounters in similar clubs throughout the
Drinks at the Paper Club, like in most bars in Pristina, were a few euros apiece. The city, on the whole, is cheap. A taxi from one end of town to the other is less than $8.
To the north of UNMIK and the Grand Hotel is another entertainment district. Take Pristinas main street, Mother Teresa Boulevard, until it becomes a pedestrian-only walkway. At the end of the walkway, on the left, is Zanzibar, a basement club in the Qendra neighborhood that features live music.
A former political party clubhouse and hangout for freedom fighters who wore guns as they sipped beers during the war, Zanzibar now offers raucous bands playing everything from 1970s cover tunes to experimental jazz.
Explore Qendra and you will also find Kaqa (pronounced Kacha), a rustic-style bar set back from the street, and De Rada, an upscale restaurant frequented by Pristinas lawyers, journalists, and other members of the smart set. A meal for two, including drinks, costs $30.
When Pejton and Qendra turn quiet, ask a cabdriver to take you to Johnnys, a saloon without a sign on a nameless side street thats a short drive from Qendra.
Marked only by a black door, Johnnys is a popular after-hours joint in the city, a favorite among locals and expats alike. It gets packed. Tightly packed. Claustrophobics should beware, as should asthmatics, because Kosovars smoke heavily. For everyone else, this living room-size venue is a great opportunity to mingle in the crush.
For sightseers, an oddity is the recently unveiled statue of Bill Clinton, who as president ordered the air strikes that ended Serbias control of Kosovo. Rather underwhelming, the 11-foot-high bronze figure of him with an outstretched hand on Bill Clinton Boulevard is a 20-minute walk south from UNMIK. But even the most jaded Americans will feel a tinge of pride.
More interesting was Sultan Murads Tomb, a $10-one-way taxi ride from the city center. Christian knights purportedly killed the Ottoman Sultan on the tombs location in 1389 during an epic battle on the so-called Field of Blackbirds, the area Serbs still consider the cradle of their nation.
While the Serbs dispatched the Sultan, the Ottomans won the battle and subjugated the Balkans for the next 500 years, converting most Albanians to their Muslim religion. Possession of the field is a major reason Belgrade refuses to acknowledge Kosovo independence to this day.
Recently renovated with Turkish aid money, the tomb is a reminder of a bygone age.

hakz2007 April 25th, 2010, 01:32 PM Hiking Kosovo
http://www.newkosovareport.com/images/stories/Rugove.png
The Republic of Kosovo is surrounded by mountains on its west and south and more softer ones in the central part. Although there are no established trails, with some knowledge all of these can be hiked.
The Alpine-Mountaineering Federation of Kosova (FBAK) supervises eleven mountaineering clubs with the most prominent being Pashtriku in Gjakova, Prishtina, Sharri in Prizren, Gjeravica in Peja and Sharri Lybeteni in Ferizaj. Other clubs exist but are not supervised by the Federation. The best way to taste Kosovo's mountains is to join one of these clubs for a small membership fee. The hikes are organized on weekends going from weekly ones with general attendance in some clubs to more rare but demanding hikes in others. Other than mountaineering, the clubs are also involved in alpinism, orienteering, speleology, biathlon and rescue training.
The best hiking can be done in the mountains in the west and south with some expeditions going on in the neighboring countries just across the border in Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro.
The clubs mostly hike the areas around the cities where they are based.
Mountains in Kosova are covered in snow from November to April. Snow and water-proof boots are mandatory in the West due to the need for stream fording.
Favorite mountains to hike are Gėrmia near Prishtina, Lybteni, Bistra (at Prevalla), Gjeravica, Gen. Fritz Van Korph Peak, Pashtriku and Guri i Kuq (at Gjeravica).
Kosovo has two national parks: Accursed Mountains and Sharr Mountain.
http://www.newkosovareport.com/images/stories/Rugove1.png
If camping is your kind of thing, Boge in Rugova is highly recommended. In Lybeten at Gllokuqica you can drive all the way up to 1100 to a nice camping site, in Prevallė on the way to Bistėr and in Bare near Mitrovica at around 1050 m.
Nearby Prishtina, you can pick from Kaēanik Mountain near Besiana, Zllasha Peak at over 1000 m, Artana Mountain and the all too familiar Gėrmia.
If you prefer water, try the excellent hiking and waterfalls at Brod, Shutman, Koretnik or Mirusha. Liqenat in Rugova sports two beautiful lakes and a great view.
For some speleology, try the Rugova Gorge.
If any of these activities fancies you, FBAK can provide counseling and guides for a more stress-free experience. Please see http://fbaku.org for more information. FBAK and Prishtina club office is located on Andrea Gropa St. n. n. behind the Parliament and main government building.

After a long period of research, writing and fact checking, CHwB staff in collaboration with In Your Pocket staff are getting ready for the publication of Prizrens first English-language city guide.
CHwB worked close with local institutions, such as: Municipality of Prizren, Institute for Protecting Monuments in Prizren, religious communities, local NGOs, to create a colorful guide, which will serve as a good tool for promotion of Prizren in international area.
The pre-final draft was sent for additional suggestions, comments and remarks to local partners. Now all those comments are being processed, and the final preparations for publication of Prizren In Your Pocket will be done. PzIYP, will consist of 44 pages, with basic information about Prizren, Monuments, Culture, Nature, Accommodation, Transport, Surrounding cities etc. The guide will be distributed in printed and online version.

They embrace their newfound peace, and they embrace Americans too

PRISTINA, Kosovo The moment I deplaned at Pristina International Airport, I felt the new vitality that had emerged in the eight years since my last visit here.
The crush of people waiting to retrieve luggage was just as frenetic, but instead of mostly solemn-faced men in black leather jackets shoving their way to the baggage carousel, this crowd was composed of young families with small children, 20-somethings in designer duds, a swarm of U.S. teens on a community-service trip, and men and women in business attire. Instead of armed Russian KFOR troops ( NATO-led Kosovo Force) barking orders at the crowd, smiling young men and women in uniforms circulated among the new arrivals, asking if they could help with accommodations or transport.
Kosovo has been independent from Serbia since February 2008. It has a long and colorful history and considerable natural beauty, but many still associate the nation about the size of Iowa with war, and few travelers consider it a vacation destination.
My daughter-in-law Sanja met me at the airport, and as we covered the 10 miles to the city, I slipped into a then-and-now comparison. In 2002 the airport road was an obstacle course on a dirt-and-gravel strip that wound between weed-covered lots dotted with "beware of land mine" signs. It was us against crater-size potholes, slow-moving military vehicles and wrong-way drivers in smoke-belching Yugos.
This time our ride on smooth, new pavement was crowded with Audis, BMWs and environmentally friendly compacts. Glass and steel buildings housing luxury auto showrooms, gas stations, home-supply megastores and even a few water parks occupied the lots.
As we approached Pristina, a Paul Bunyan-size image of a smiling Bill Clinton painted on a high-rise greeted traffic. The words beneath former President Clinton's likeness read: "Welcome to Bill Clinton Boulevard," a clear message he remains a hero of epic proportion in Kosovo. There's even talk of building a park named for Clinton to enshrine an 11-foot-tall gilded statue of him unveiled in November 2009.
In 2002 most Pristina dwellings were run-down socialist towers covered with laundry lines and satellite dishes; streets and restaurants were often empty. Now the satellite dishes are gone, new construction is everywhere, and restaurant business has picked up because "Kosovo has cable now, and people have a little more money to go out for dinner," Sanja told me.
Flowers and flags were the biggest tipoff that Kosovo had changed. Eight years ago Kosovars' most urgent priorities were food, jobs and healing after war. There was no room for floral frivolities. Flying an Albanian flag near a Serb neighborhood had the power to set off a fight and vice versa. This time botanical color was visible on tables, in window boxes, on fences and along sidewalks, and Kosovo's new flag was flying but seldom alone. Usually it was flanked by the Stars and Stripes, the European Union banner and others.
The next morning in the apartment that Sanja and my son Greg share, I opened my eyes to the first of the day's five Muslim calls to prayer, which simultaneously emanate from loud speakers mounted on Pristina's 200 minarets. In 2002 I awoke to the cries of feral dogs that roamed Pristina's streets, and the prayer calls were silent, as many of the city's Albanian Muslim majority were keeping a low profile after the war.
We had a packed itinerary and left early for the museum city of Prizren 50 miles southwest of Pristina. Prizren is Kosovo's historical and cultural center, the site of many seminal events since its founding in Byzantine times. It also is the country's most ethnically diverse region, home to Albanians, Turks, Serbs, Bosnians and others.
A 16th century stone bridge that spans the Lumbardh River in Prizren's center is the city's most recognizable landmark. Others include the Sinan Pasha Mosque in the city center, elaborate Orthodox churches and the rebuilt League of Prizren building with its ethnographic museum. We also stopped at the 15th century Gazi Mehmet Pasha Hamam (an Ottoman bathhouse), but we got only a peek at its intricate woodwork and blue-and-white paintings because it is under renovation.
Prizren's cache of Ottoman buildings was virtually untouched during the 1998-99 war, but postwar ethnic violence and Albanian retaliation for destruction of the original League of Prizren building caused extensive damage to many Serbian churches. A guard on the grounds of the19th century Serbian Orthodox Church of St. George told us the building was closed for repair after being burned by rioting Albanians in March 2004. As a result, St. George's and other Orthodox churches and monasteries in Kosovo still are ringed with barbed wire and guarded by KFOR troops.
We decided to have breakfast and found a bakery where Sanja purchased cheese-filled burek while we ordered espresso at a coffee bar on Sadervan Square. Our table in front of a public fountain in the square turned out to be a great spot for people watching. We were treated to a parade of children, city workers, women in traditional Muslim dress and shoppers stopping to fill pails, take a drink, wash their hands or just splash around.
When we went to get our car to head for Gjakova, the parking attendant approached us with a dour look that immediately changed to a smile and handshakes all around when he realized we were Americans. This is not unusual in Kosovo, which in my experience is the only mostly Muslim nation that openly loves the U.S. and its people.
Gjakova is 25 miles north of Prizren and should have been a 40-minute ride, but it took us almost two hours because it was wedding season in Kosovo. We encountered no fewer than two dozen wedding caravans clogging the roads with cars carrying people waving white cloths out windows while horns honked and music blasted from car radios. I saw similar processions eight years ago, but mostly they celebrated the release of Albanian prisoners of war.
When we finally reached Gjakova, we headed for the Carshia, a bazaar set in wooden stalls with carved shutters. The market is from the 16th century, but the original buildings burned to the ground in 1999. They have been rebuilt, and Carshia is unique in Gjakova, though the town also has its share of museums, mosques and historic sites.
Our next stop would have been Peja and its 13th century monastery, but we instead detoured to Rahoveci to taste the new vintage at the Stone Castle winery, one of Kosovo's largest. We noticed a framed photograph of Clinton hanging on the wall along with the winery's awards and licenses.
Because we were determined to see a monastery that day, we chose Decani, an hour northwest of the winery. Italian KFOR troops outside the monastery gates examined our papers and held our passports while we went in, a procedure unchanged from 2002.
While in the monastery, we were approached by a young monk named Peter, who spoke excellent English. He asked if we wanted to see more than the church and invited us for tea and sesame honey cookies. When we finished, he showed us the monks' living quarters and the art studio where they create icons for Orthodox churches all over the world, and explained the monks' concept of community. He showed us Decani's state-of-the-art woodshop, then took us to the wine cellar. Our impromptu visit lasted more than two hours.
The next few days Sanja and I explored Pristina while Greg went to his job with the U.S. Agency for International Development. We joined crowds strolling along the wide pedestrian expanse that is Mother Teresa Boulevard, stopped at a French-style cafe for cafe au lait, visited the new Kosovo National Library building and the University of Kosovo campus, and toured the city's colorful farmers market/bazaar, where produce, cheese, pots and pans, eggs and meat, and mountains of cigarette cartons are for sale. We also went to Film City, a multistory mall in the hills above town where designer knockoffs rule.
Kosovo's once limited restaurant scene is now vibrant, thanks to the demands of a large international population. There is everything from Albanian fare such as beef pie with yogurt (mantija) at Tiffany or sushi with a side of karaoke at Tokyo.
Most people walk rather than ride in Pristina, and so did we. Sanja and I walked a route that took us to the Mother Teresa statue on the boulevard named for her, and to Kosovo's version of the Vietnam Wall. The memorial is an iron fence covered with photos of young men and women killed or missing during the war. We also passed Pristina's huge dormant Palace of Youth and Sports, which is one of the most recognizable landmarks but has been empty since a 1999 fire. Only its exterior has been repaired. A visit to the bright yellow Newborn sculpture in front of the sports palace summed up Kosovo's new spirit. It's not a great work of art, but it is symbolic: It was erected to mark Kosovo's independence as a nation.
Over dinner on my last evening in Kosovo, Greg asked what changes I had noticed since my previous visit. I mentioned the new buildings, the restaurants, the roads, the absence of land mine warnings and the air of optimism that seemed to be everywhere. But I also told him that the one thing that had touched me the most eight years ago hadn't changed at all: Kosovo's affection for America and its people. Nothing makes a traveler feel more at home.

Ermir July 12th, 2010, 03:28 PM BY MARY KAY SWEIKAR, July 10, 2010
PRISTINA, Kosovo When well-wishing family and friends learned my husband and I planned to stay in Kosovo for a week during our recent European travels, they expressed understandable concern: Where in the world is Kosovo? and Isnt it dangerous there?
But not until we spent a week living in Pristina, the vibrant capital of this developing country, could I say with confidence that Kosovo is a safe, beautiful, and exciting place to visit.
My son, Michael Sweikar (1999 Schlarman High School graduate) had already done work in this Balkan country on three different occasions, and he was completing another 2-month assignment there when we decided to visit him. Michael works for the international division of the National Center for State Courts (NCSC), a non-profit organization based in Arlington, Va., specializing in international legal development.
Based on my sons sound judgment and experience, I had reason to believe that visiting this newest nation in the world would be a worthwhile and fulfilling experience.
Kosovars love Americans, and they are abundantly thankful for U.S. assistance during and after their war for independence from Serbian rule in 1999. These are people who proudly fly the American flag, display a statue of President Bill Clinton on a major thoroughfare and celebrate the U.S. Fourth of July.
In recent years most visitors to Kosovo have been people who went there as part of the U.S. governments mission, including diplomats, soldiers or development consultants. In the past, few Americans thought of Kosovo as a tourist destination, but that is changing.
Squeezed into a relatively small area, Kosovo offers a pleasing mixture of modern culture and tradition, as well as beautiful landscapes to admire breathtaking mountain peaks, densely forested hills, spectacular waterfalls and abundant roses and wildflowers.
Visitors will discover fascinating cultural treasures Ottoman-era buildings, stone houses, churches, mosques, medieval fresco paintings and many statues of political leaders and war heroes. There also is a statue of Mother Teresa and a boulevard in the capital city that is named after this saintly Albanian woman, who is revered worldwide.
Its true that Pristina lacks some of the amenities that most of us have come to expect. For example, the water supply is shut off in parts of the city at 11 p.m. and returns with a loud swish at 6 a.m. the next morning. There are unannounced power interruptions, and passing several vehicles at a time on winding mountain roads is the norm.
The food in the restaurants we visited was well-prepared, though, and was served elegantly by the wait staff. We found fruit and vegetable stands everywhere, and small meat shops displayed whole lambs and legs of beef and pork in their windows. Crusty breads, delicious pastries, and morning coffee (macchiato) were served in cafes and restaurants. When compared to American prices, the cost of food, clothing, and personal items in Kosovo is relatively low, even though dollars were worth less than euros at the time.
The average age in Pristina is only 25. The young women dress in clinging jeans or short skirts, and 4-inch shoes or boots. For the most part, they tend to dress more formally than Americans do, and they all wear dark suits for official business meetings. Stylishly dressed male and female mannequins are lined up like soldiers outside the tiny clothing stores, even during a heavy rain.
Story of Kosovo
The Republic of Kosovo is a landlocked, mostly mountainous country about the size of Connecticut, with a little more than 2 million people. The region was ruled by many different ethnic groups throughout history, including the Slavs, Bulgarians, Serbs and Ottoman Turks. The Ottoman Empire ruled Kosovo for centuries, until Serbia resumed control over the region in 1913. In 1918, Kosovo became part of the Yugoslav Federation.
In 1998, the Yugoslav army and Serbian police began fighting against the Kosovo Liberation Army, but their brutal tactics were concentrated on the ethnic Albanian civilians who made up more than 90 per cent of the country. Kosovos Albanian leaders attempted to break away from Serbia using non-violent methods, but Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic cracked down brutally to stifle their efforts for independence.
After the NATO intervention to stop the inhumane treatment of the Kosovo Albanians, Serbia finally agreed to a peace accord. More than 900 Kosovars were killed in the 11 weeks of fighting, and nearly a million people were forced to flee their homes without adequate food and shelter.
Although other sections of Yugoslavia prospered, the wars of the 20th Century left the province of Kosovo poor and underdeveloped. Nevertheless, on Feb. 17, 2008, the Republic of Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia.
All this rich history makes Kosovo a unique and diverse country to visit. There are building and road signs lettered in three languages: Albanian, Serbian and Turkish. Muslim mosques and Orthodox monasteries co-exist, and elderly Albanian men wear the distinguishing white, fitted cap called a plise. Turkish women wearing their traditional costumes mingle with the young Albanians who are stylishly dressed in American fashions.
In Kosovo you can hear a wide range of recorded music in the trendy shops and cafes from traditional pipe songs, to Albanian rap, to Michael Jackson and American musical hits of the 1980s.
Most people associate Kosovo only with the highly publicized war between the Albanians and the Serbs more than a decade ago, but one local Kosovar told me that Conditions here are a thousand times better than they were 10 years ago, during the war. I was still a student back then, when my family fled the country and stayed with friends in Albania. Im proud to return to Kosovo and work for an organization that is helping our beautiful country to rebuild.
U.S. helps
Thanks to the United States and European nation agencies and volunteers, millions of dollars and invaluable human resources have been poured into helping Kosovo get back on its feet.
The National Center for State Courts is a non-profit organization that continues to do good work in Kosovo. Under a USAID-funded project (www.drejtesia-ks.org/?cid2,1) NCSC is helping to establish a modern, functional judicial system that can better serve the citizens of Kosovo. During our time there, we were privileged to attend the inauguration of the recently renovated court in Prizren (about two hours from Pristina).
On that same day, we especially enjoyed participating in the Childrens Day events at a grade school in Prizren. NCSC has provided the second graders in schools throughout Kosovo with Lets Learn About Law coloring books, along with boxes of crayons that were donated by people back in the United States. The students waved both American and Albanian flags, and some were dressed in their traditional costumes.
There are opportunities to assist the effort in Kosovo through the National Center for State Courts. Donations to buy Crayola crayons can be sent to benefit the school children in Kosovo (http://www.ncscinternational.org/Projects/Kosovo_coloring_book_series.asp).

ardenica August 2nd, 2010, 11:00 PM Cool off in Kosovo’s Hot Summer
| 28 July 2010 | Belinda Vrapi
Gracanica Hacienda Pool
Leave Pristina on hot summer days to go to the outskirts of Gracanica and you will find Hacienda Pool surrounded by nature. For the modest price of 1.5 euro you can enjoy the open-air pool. Drinks and fast food are offered. Hacienda Pool is on the right side of the road going right from the roundabout of Gracanica. To reach Hacienda drive past the monastery in Gracanica and take the first right.
Mirusha Waterfalls
Mirusha is one of the best places to cool off in Kosovo, thanks to the cool mountain water and stunning scenery. It can get a bit busy around the lower pools at the weekends, but if you are willing to take a hike to one of the dozens of waterfalls up stream, you can escape the crowds. To get there from Pristina, take the road to Peja and turn off at the Gjakova road. Around 8km further along you’ll see a sign for Mirusha in Albanian. Park by the restaurant and follow the river for 20minutes until you reach the falls.
Germia Pool
Germia pool is a few minutes outside of Pristina, on the edge of GermiaPark. The large pool is absolutely heaving on hot summer days with an entrance fee of only 1.5 euro. Surrounded by high trees of Germia Park, the large pool is a relaxing place in the week, frequented by all ages. There are a bar and restaurants within walking distance.
Swiss Wellness Centre
On the road from Pristina to Mitrovica, around 20 minutes outside the capital, you will find the Swiss Wellness Centre on the right. Apart from the indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam bath and other services, the centre also has an open-air swimming pool in the summer, where you can enjoy a swim away from the noise of the city.
Batlava Lake
Batlava Lake is an artificial lake originally built to supply Pristina and its surroundingswith water. It’s now also used for swimming by many and is a beautiful spot at all times of the year, unless the hordes have descended with their rubbish. There are plenty of kebab stalls around and the woods and some decent restaurants. You can also rent a small boat or pedalo to enjoy the water. Batlava is a 30-minute-drive from Pristina. Turn off the Podujevo road where it is signposted to Orllan.
Badovc Lake
Badovc Lake is situated in the Gollak Mountains, to the south-east of Pristina on the road to Gjilan. The lake has an area of 2.57 km² and is used as one of the main sources of water for the territory of Pristina. Because of its surrounding picturesque environment, it has become a popular tourist destination during spring and summer for picnickers and fishermen. Swimmers give it mixed reports, as it can get quite muddy.
Dhermi, Albania
Ok, it is a bit more of a drive to southern Albania, but it has to be one of the best choices for a weekend’s watery relaxation. Don’t bother with busy Dhermi itself, but pick the next door beach of Drymades, with its couple of bars and hotels, or one of the neighbouring deserted options. It’s about an eight-hour drive from Pristina along the new highway, so it’s worth making a long weekend of it. Rooms book up in August, so it’s best to reserve in advance.
Ohrid, Macedonia
Ohrid and the Lake of Ohrid have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Lake of Ohrid is the jewel of the Macedonian crown and the lake itself is one of the oldest in the world. There are 365 churches, many monastaries, holy sites, castles and museums to visit, apart from swimming in the lake. Ohrid is a four- to five-hour drive from Pristina.

kosova-fener August 6th, 2010, 07:51 PM Kosovos fledging tourism industry could be boosted by the International Court of Justices ruling that the countrys declaration of independence was not contrary to international law, a renowned travel writer has said.
Alex Robertson Textor said the World Courts advisory opinion in favour of Kosovo should encourage more tourists to visit the country and stimulate foreign investment.
Robertson Textor, in a comment for Gadling, one of the worlds top travel blogs, wrote: "In line with anticipated increased foreign investment, Kosovo should see some development as a tourist destination."
He said that the countrys larger cities, including Pristina, Prizren, and Peja, have tourism potential, as do Kosovo's beautiful Serbian Orthodox monasteries of Gracanica and Visoki Decani.
A 14-strong panel of judges at the ICJ gave its opinion on Kosovos declaration of independence on July 22, following Serbias request to the United Nations for the issue to be evaluated.
Tourism is seen as a key pillar in Kosovos economic development plan but, despite a smattering of visitors, poor infrastructure continues to prevent the country from realising its potential, experts say.
To promote Kosovos natural and cultural wealth to domestic tourists, the Kosovo Tourism Association, KOTAS, and USAID, launched a campaign last year encouraging people to Stay the Weekend, Experience Kosovo.
The association has also established the first company in Kosovo that caters for the international market; Tourism Planning and Development Consulting.
The firm began a partnership with Regent Holidays, based in Bristol, England, which has been bringing visitors from Britain and elsewhere since last May.
According to Kosovos Statistical Office around 20,000 visitors came to Kosovo in the first six months of 2009. By contrast, more than 90,000 tourists visited neighbouring Macedonia in the first quarter of 2009 alone.
Last October, the Kosovo government launched a six million euro campaign to rebrand Kosovos image through its adverts, styled The Young Europeans.
The adverts, shown on international news channels and devised by the well-known PR firm Saatchi and Saatchi, highlighted Kosovos youthfulness, showing various attractive young people in picturesque parts of the country.
While the campaign aimed to shift Kosovos overall image in a positive direction, Saatchi and Saatchi said it hoped it would also attract tourists and direct foreign investment.

Buddy Holly August 11th, 2010, 01:37 PM Prishtina gati pėr Morcheeba

Prishtinė, 11 gusht - Parkingu prapa Pallatit tė Rinisė tė martėn ėshtė zaptuar nga teknikėt tė cilėt ishin duke ngritur skenėn qė do tė jetė nikoqire e bendit tė njohur anglez, Morcheeba.
Skena me pėrmasa 24 me 17 metra, sot (e mėrkurė) do tė elektrizohet nga tingujt e hiteve tė bendit tė muzikės trip hop, qė do tė performojė nė kryeqytet nė kuadėr tė festivalit urban veror SURF. Fiks nė orėn 19:30, Shpat Deda, Cute Babulja dhe Pischmen, do ti paraprijnė koncertit.
Parashikimet tona qė kemi pasur do tė dalin.
Do tė nisė me Shpat Dedėn, pėr tė vazhduar me kėngėtarėt tjerė vendorė qė do ti lėnė vend bendit tė njohur anglez. Mė pas do tė ketė performanca tė DJ-ve vendorė, ka thėnė Kraja.
Bendi anglez i njohur me pesė albume bestsellerė ka qenė i suksesshėm nё dy dekadat e fundit. Pas pauzės dyvjeēare ata sivjet janė kthyer nё formacion tė plotė, sё bashku me kёngёtaren e famshme Skye dhe nё prill 2010 filluan turneun botėror nė mė se 30 qytete botėrore.

Trip hop bendi anglez Morcheeba, tė mėrkurėn mbrėma, performoi live para publikut prishtinas. Anėtarėt e bendit u ndanė tė kėnaqur me adhuruesit e tyre kosovarė, por mė tė kėnaqur qenė vet adhuruesit, pasi qė patėn rastin ta dėgjojnė live njėrin prej grupeve mė tė mira tė zhanrit trip hop.
Nga Alfred Beka mė 11.08.2010 nė ora 18:09
Ndryshe prej Snoop Dogg, i cili nė koncertin qė e mbajti para disa muajve nė Prishtinė, u vonua rreth dy orė, e ndryshe edhe prej Eros Ramazzottit, i cili nuk erdhi fare nė Prishtinė, grupi anglez Morcheeba erdhi tamam nė kohė dhe doli nė skenė nė kohėn siē edhe ishte pritur.
Morcheeba doli nė skenė aty rreth orės 22:00, ndėrsa performoi para adhuruesve kosovarė rreth njė orė e gjysmė. Ende pa dalė ata nė skenė, atmosfera tashmė ishte nxehur sepse pėr kėtė ishin kujdesur parabendet me Shpat Dedėn, Genc Salihun dhe Pishman, tė cilėt, me kėngėt e tyre, nuk i lanė adhuruesit e Morcheeba-s tė mėrzitėn.
Mė tė dalė nė skenė Morcheeba, brohoritjet nuk pushonin. Tashmė nė hapėsirėn prapa Pallatit tė Rinisė, ku po mbahej koncerti, tė pranishėm ishin diku rreth katėr deri nė pesė mijė adhurues, nė mesin e tė cilėve qe edhe Christopher Dell, ambasador i Shteteve tė Bashkuara nė Kosovė.
Grupi anglez, me vokalisten Skye Edwards, nė pėrbėrje tė tė cilit janė edhe dy vėllezėrit Godfrey, kėnduan kėngė nga katėr albumet e para, ndėrsa po ashtu kėnduan edhe kėngė nga albumi i tyre i fundit me titull Blood like lemonade. Dhe e mira e tė mirės ishte se gjithēka qe live.
I krijuar nė mesin e viteve nėntėdhjetė, Morcheeba ka realizuar shtatė albume, tė cilėt nė pėrbėrje kanė pėrzierje tė zhanreve trip hop, rock, rhythm and blues dhe pop. Albumet e tyre mė tė popullarizuara janė ai debutues Who Can You Trust? dhe Big Calm. Ndėrsa, nė mesin e kėngėve tė tyre mė tė njohura janė "Rome Wasn't Built in a Day" dhe "The Sea".
Nė konferencėn pėr media, qė u mbajt mė herėt, vokalistja e grupit, Skye u shpreh se ndihet pėr mrekulli nė Prishtinė. Ajo kishte dalė nė mbrėmjen e sė martės nė Prishtinė, kishte ngrėnė darkė nė Tiffany dhe ishte ndarė e kėnaqur me ushqimin qė i ishte shėrbyer aty.
Njerėzit kėtu nuk po mė bezdisin. Kemi pasur njė vakt relaksues nė Tiffany, ka qenė e mrekullueshme, me ushqim vendor dhe verė tė mirė, u shpreh ajo.
Pėr Kosovėn pėr herė tė parė ajo tha se ka dėgjuar nė lajmė.
Pėr herė tė parė pėr Kosovėn kam dėgjuar nė kohėn kur ju po kalonit kohė tė vėshtira kėtu, kėshtu qė ėshtė mirė qė kemi ardhur kėtu. Shpresoj qė vendi juaj do tė ecė pėrpara dhe mėzi pres qė tė vijė prapė, tha Skye.

Mashkullore August 28th, 2010, 09:31 PM Hiking Dragash, Kosovo: Restelica to Brod
By toddswanderings
Mountain shepherds, enormous Sharr Dogs, free roaming horses, pristine babbling streams and dramatic mountains are just a small taste of what awaits you in Dragash. Located in the southern end of Kosovo, Dragash is an oasis of untouched natural beauty and traditional villages sandwiched between the borders of Macedonia and Albania. Ignored by the Yugoslav government, the area never received development money for tourism despite its wealth of flora, fauna and cultural traditions. Luckily, this also spared the region the communist era concrete hotels and restaurants that mar similar regions in Kosovo. To help spur sustainable eco-tourism to the region and highlight an untouched wonder in the Balkans Im helping to write a hiking guide to the Dragash Region funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The last hike was a steep climb from Brod to Mt. Cule.
Easy Hike from Restelica to Brod (or the other way around)
STARTING POINT: Restelica (or Brod)
TIME- 2 ½ hours one way
STARTING ELEVATION- 1,492 meters
HIGHEST ELEVATION- 1,972 meters
DIFFICULTY- Medium
The villages of Brod and Restelica sit on opposite ends of a fork in the road that begins in the town of Dragash. Representing the southernmost villages at the end of their roads, and Kosovo, they are only about 10 km away from each other by the mountain trails but it takes more than an hour to reach the other village by car. Each village has its unique atmosphere and a hike through the mountain passes between the two is an easy way to explore both the surrounding nature and the character of the small villages dotting the Dragash region. Their isolation from each other has reportedly bred a healthy rivalry between the two villages. You will have to decide for yourself which town speaks closer to your own heart. No matter which you choose you are sure to fall in love with the surrounding mountains, sweeping grassy fields reminiscent of New Zealand, and a local population eager to host the rare visitor.
The village of Restelica
I would recommend starting your hike from Restelica as you start higher on this end and the pass is less steep to reach, allowing you to enjoy your hike down to Brod. This will also allow you to stay the night in Brod in the only hotel in the area, Arxhena. The hotel sits 3 km from the town of Brod on the way into the mountains. Their attempt to build an insanely steep ski hill has marred the surrounding beauty, but the staff is friendly and accommodating. Their lamb is delicious, fresh from the town of Brod, and dont forget to try the salty Sharr cheese.
Starting from Restelica:
Enter the town until you reach a sharp left hand turn that switches back on itself. Follow this road up into the main part of town. Keep following the road until it turns right and leads you out of town to the South and then into a river valley (pictured at the beginning of the article). From here the walking path follows the river into the valley. After about 20 minutes you will come to a fork in the valley with a smaller river flowing into the larger from the left. Leave the path here and follow the smaller river up into the valley on the left. After about 100 meters a path will start on the left side of this river. Follow this up along the river to the pass that leads down to Brod. On the way up youll find a spring where you can refill your water bottles.
Meeting locals along the path.
Hotel near Brod and the insanely steep walk down to it. Careful its slippery.
Just before the top of the pass there is a Sheppards hut where a lot of Sharr dogs live. Give it a wide birth just to stay safe as Sharr dogs can be very territorial. Once over the pass follow the mountains down to the left. Youll be able to see a rocky cliff in the distance, head toward this. You will hit the old road towards Macedonia. At this point you can either walk down the steep, eroded ski slope towards Hotel Arxhena if you are staying there, or continue to follow the old road north and it will eventually bring you gently down into the town of Brod.
Starting from Brod
Just follow the directions above in reverse. If you are starting from the Brod itself it is best to turn right across the river just outside of town to begin your climb along the old Macedonian road. If you start from the Hotel you are forced to hike up the ski hill, which is hot, dusty and very steep. Be careful not to follow the well worn path towards the glacial lake in the south. Instead once you are just above the hotel turn west and head up over the mountains were the path is smaller and made by sheep. Dont worry too much about the path at this point, just get up and over the mountain pass and you will see where to go.
Dont forget to look out for the wild goats that live in the cliffs above Arxhena hotel. They come out in the morning and later afternoon. A small restaurant called Ramce by the river (before you reach the Arxhena hotel coming from Brod) is a perfect place to relax and search for the goats. Ask the owner for this binoculars. They also serve great lamb so stop by on your way back from hiking. Just remember to call in advance and they need 1 hour to prepare the lamb properly (tel 029-285-119). They are only open in the summer but the scenery, cold beer, goat viewing and fresh meat cant be beat.
Yes, this is when I was mobbed by sheep. They were more aggressive than the dogs on this hike!
If You Go
Early summer is the best time for the wild flowers and deep green grasses
Driving from Pristina it takes about 2 1/2 hours to reach Brod by car. Drive to Prizren and follow the one way roads through the city taking a sharp left at the city center and following signs for Kukes and Dragash where you will take a right hand turn to leave the city. Continue on the road to Kukes for about 15 km until you come to an intersection with signs pointing left to Dragash. Turn left and follow this road into the valley for about 30 km until you come to the town of Dragash itself.
Going to Restelica: Just after entering Dragash and climbing the hill to the beginning of the town take your first right hand turn. Follow the road for about 40 minutes until you come to Restelica, the last town along the road.
Going to Brod: Continue through Dragash center following signs for Brod. The road after Dragash winds its way through the mountains for another 20 minutes until you come to Brod, the last town along the road.
If you have any questions about visiting Dragash just post a comment below. Or share your stories and tips for visiting this wonderful area of Kosovo.
If you do visit, please leave a comment below as I will be sharing your experiences with the Mayor and the communities to help encourage them and show them the value of their resources.

kosova-fener November 2nd, 2010, 02:38 AM King Abdullah II of Jordan’s tourism advisor has urged Kosovo to look to the Muslim world for opportunities to attract visitors.
Lawrence Marzouk
His Excellency Agel Biltaji, who is credited with transforming tourism in Jordan, made the comments at the opening of the American Tourism Society’s conference in Kosovo this week.
The ATS, an influential grouping of tour operators, is visiting Kosovo to look for tourism opportunities in the world’s youngest country. Biltaji told an audience of ATS members and Kosovo-based tourism operators that Kosovo should look to its neighbours, Turkey and the Arab world for potential visitors to the country.
“What is wrong with looking to your next door neighbours first?” he said. “You should look to the Muslim world. The silent majority of Muslims in the Arab world would like to be like Kosovo.” He added the historic ties with Turkey should also be exploited.
“Turkey is becoming bigger and stronger,” he said. “Turkish Airlines is the fourth largest carrier in Europe. “Turkey is already engaged and interested. You should align yourself with those who are already here.”
The ATS group will visit sites in Pristina, Peja and Prizren, before travelling to Tirana, Albania in their week-long visit to the region. Mr Biltaji told Kosovo tourism bosses that they must first carry out an inventory of their assets before tackling issues such as infrastructure, which need improving.
But he added that he was confident Kosovo would overcome its current difficulties. “I have felt the positive vibes and the positive energy that you have,” he said. “You will make it.”
K-based Regent Holidays became the first international tour operator to offer trips to Kosovo last May. It brought its first group of 22 British tourists to Kosovo for a long weekend on May 1, 2009. The tour included Gjakova, Peja, Istog, Prekaz and Pristina.
The British firm, which provides trips to a range of unusual destinations, markets Kosovo as an ‘ideal for pioneering travellers keen to discover Europe’s newest country which only declared independence in 2008’. Prices range from 550euro for a three-day city break to 880 euro for a week-long escorted tour.
Andrea Godfrey, general manager for Regent Holidays, told Balkan Insight earlier this year that Kosovo has great potential, but lacks good tour guides and information for tourists. She added that hotel prices are expensive compared to similar countries.
According to the Statistical Office, around 20,000 visitors came to Kosovo in the first six months of 2009, with a slight rise in the second half of the year. In neighbouring, also landlocked, Macedonia, more than 90,000 tourists visited the country in the first quarter of 2009 alone.
Biltaji, the tourism advisor for King Abdullah II of Jordan, was left waiting at Prihtina International Airport because staff was baffled by his passport.
The immigration officer was forced to leave her booth and consult other staff about the Jordanian diplomatic passport before allowing Mr Biltaji to enter Kosovo. “She was very honest and was always smiling,” Mr Biltaji said, referring to the border guard. “She came back and said it was the first time she had seen a passport of that kind. “She had guts and she was beautiful.”
Buddy Holly January 4th, 2011, 09:45 PM The Guardian ua preferon britanikėve Brezovicėn
Publikuar: Sot, mė 04 janar 2011
Prishtinė, 4 janar - Gazeta autoritative britanike The Guardian u preferon lexuesve tė saj qė tė zgjedhin Ballkanin pėr pushimet e tyre dimėrore dhe skijimin.

Hello.
I'm writing to you in regards to an error found in the following story as linked here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2011/jan/04/balkans-skiing-snowboarding-resorts
Brezovica, a ski-resort in Kosovo, is listed under Serbia. This is a mistake. Brezovica is located in Kosovo, an independent country, and it has nothing to do with Serbia. I would like to see that error rectified, and would certainly expect a respected newspaper - such as The Guardian - to not make any such mistakes (whether on purpose or not) in the future.
Many thanks,
XY
Arbenit January 8th, 2011, 06:03 PM New York Times: Kosova, vend pėr tu vizituar mė 2011
http://www.koha.net/repository/images/08-bukuri,-rrotulluese4.jpg
New York, 8 janara - Gazeta mė e madhe amerikane, New York Times preferon Kosovėn si njė prej vendeve qė duhet vizituar nė vitin 2011. Kjo gazetė rekomandon 41 vende nė botė qė duhet parė kėtė vit, dhe e rendit vendin tonė nė vendin e 36-tė, me kėtė arsyetim:
Turistėt do tė mund tė gjejnė male tė thepisura dhe pyje tė bukura. Gjithashtu do tė gjejnė popullatėn mė tė re tė kontinentit, me gati gjysmėn e popullatės nėn moshėn 25-vjeēare.
Dikur qendėr e Kishės Ortodoske Serbe, qyteti i Pejės e ka Patrikanėn e Pejės, njė kompleks i mesjetės pranė njė gryke, me njė enterier tė jashtėzakonshėm. Gjithashtu, ėshtė edhe Manastiri i Deēanit, i mbushur me skena tė gjalla biblike, transmeton portali indeksonline shkrimin e gazetės amerikane.

36. Kosovo
Mountains, medieval architecture and unexpected night life.
Just over a decade ago, this Albanian enclave was a troubled province of Serbia; Slobodan Milosevics Serbian forces destroyed myriad towns and cities and killed thousands in their pursuit of independence fighters. NATO ended the fighting, but flare-ups continued.
The last few years have seen Kosovo which declared independence in 2008 attempt to rise from the ashes. Despite problems and controversies, there is progress on the travel front: a $1 billion highway project is under way, government-owned hotels have been privatized and refurbished, various historic sites have won Unesco World Heritage status, and the airport now welcomes the European budget carrier EasyJet.
Travelers will be greeted by rugged mountains and pine forests. Theyll also find that Europes youngest nation boasts the Continents youngest population, with about half of the people under 25. That statistic comes to life in Pristina, the capital. Thanks in part to the return of enterprising young Kosovars living abroad, the city is filling with cafes, nightclubs and restaurants.
But remnants of Kosovos Slavic and Ottoman past are the marquee attractions. Once the seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the city of Peja contains the Patriarchate of Pec, a complex of medieval churches overlooking a jagged gorge, with interiors that glow with frescoes, and the Decani Monastery, filled with vivid biblical scenes.

Kėto mjete kanė tė bėjnė me projektet e ndryshme kapitale nė lėmin e sportit.
“Sivjet, Komuna e Prishtinės, me njė seriozitet shumė tė madh sė bashku me Drejtorinė e Urbanizmit dhe me zyrtarė tė sportit, kemi bėrė njė inspektim nė qytetin ose nė Komunėn e Prishtinės se ku do t’i ndėrtojmė terenet e ndryshme sportive. Komuna e Prishtinės, sivjet ka paraparė qė t’i bėjė dy terene sportive tek Deponia, ish-Deponia nė Vranjevc, do tė jenė fusha tė basketbollit dhe tė hendbollit diku do tė ketė edhe tė futbollit, ėshtė proceduar edhe pėr katėr terene nė “Fushėn e Pajtimit” aty do tė bėhet njė kompleks i madh sportiv me 12 fusha tė sportit pra tė llojllojshme, pra aty do tė kemi fusha tė basketbollit, futbollit, hendbollit dhe tenisit. Nė pjesėn kapitale, Komuna e Prishtinės parasheh qė tė investojė 600 – 700 mijė euro”.
Sipas Dumoshit, qytetarėt e Prishtinės, do tė kenė hapėsira tė shumta ku mund tė zhvillojnė aktivitetet sportive. Ajo thotė se nė lagjen “Bregu i Diellit”, do tė ndėrtohen dy fusha sportive.
“Pastaj do t’i kemi fushat sportive nė Bregun e Diellit tek banesat e bardha, gjithashtu ne i kemi paraparė edhe hapėsirat tė cilat kanė qenė qysh moti fusha sportive si nė lagjet “Ulpiana”, “Dardania”, tė cilat tashmė janė nė njė gjendje jo tė mirė, do tė bėhet edhe renovimi i tyre sepse aty kemi pjesė tė banuara me popullatė shumė tė madhe. Gjithashtu, inspektimi nuk i ka kryer edhe tė gjitha punėt e veta, nė disa lagje kah lagjja “Tauk Bahēe” do tė mundohemi krejt qytetin ta pėrfshijmė sė paku tė bėjmė ēoftė njė teren, dy ose tri terrene sportive. Besoj se kjo ka me qenė njė pasuri mjaft e madhe qė do t’i dedikohet sportit”.
Ajo thotė se edhe mė tej mungesa e Ligjit pėr kryeqytetin, bėn qė projektet e ndryshme kapitale tė jenė tė pakta pėr Prishtinėn.
“Komuna e Prishtinės ėshtė shumė e interesuar pėr Ligjin pėr Prishtinėn ku dhe aty kemi edhe Pallatin e Rinisė, tė cilin ne e kosiderojmė se i takon Komunės sė Prishtinės dhe nė ēoftė se kjo do tė zgjidhet pėrmes parlamentit tė Kosovės, pastaj tė gjitha klubet sportive, angazhimet sportive, do ta kenė vendin aty”.

http://www.koha.net/repository/images/28brezovica4.jpg
Shtėrpcė, 28 janar Njė masterplan, i punuar nga kompania austriake Ecosign, me financim tė Komisionit Evropian, parasheh nevojėn pėr investime tė mėdha milionėshe pėr tė bėrė Brezovicėn qendėr turistike
Bratisllav Nikoliq, kryetar i komunės ka thėnė se Brezovica do tė ndikoj nė zhvillimin ekonomik tė Kosovė, njė vend me mundėsi pėr turizėm gjatė 365 ditėve.
Gjatė prezantimit detaj tė master-planit, autori i tij, Viktor Manuel Costa Cabrera, ka thėnė se pjesa mė e shtrenjtė pėr investime janė ski liftet, ku nevojiten 25 milionė euro, ndėrsa 60 milionė do tė duheshin pėr dizajnimin e kapaciteteve malore. Sipas master-planit janė 103 hektarė qė mund tė shėrbejnė pėr 5,640 skijues.
Gjatė kėtij studimi, ekspertėt kanė analizuar njė zonė tė gjerė tė maleve tė Sharrit nė rrethinėn e Brezovicės dhe kanė konstatuar se kjo qendėr skijimi nuk i plotėson kėrkesat e njė kompleksi modern malor qė funksionon gjatė tėrė vitit. Rekomandimi ėshtė qė qendra e skijimit tė zhvendoset nė zonėn e
afėrt nė pjesėn perėndimore. Zona e re do tė kishte kapacitet pėr 10 mijė mysafirė, ndėrsa pesė teleferikė dhe njė fshat turistik do tė priste mė shumė se 6 mijė mysafirė.

DARDHAN January 28th, 2011, 09:32 PM Shum lajm i mire ky skijimi esht turizem elitar ndersa kosova ka shume potencial ne ket apsekt dhe ne qofte se arrin ta ringjalle apo ta ndertoje ket lloje turizmi kosova do te ket perfitķme shum te medha? (Gjithashtu ky do te jet nje resurs i mjaftushem turistik per nje kosove kaqe te vogel..
Shpresojm te behen investime serioze dhe cilsore.

Ermir May 18th, 2011, 09:04 PM Universitet indian nė Kosovė, mė i madhi nė Ballkan
Prishtinė, 18 maj Sipas tė gjitha gjasave Kosova do tė bėhet edhe me njė universitet tė huaj, pėr tė cilin madje thuhet se do tė jetė mė i madhi nė Ballkan.
IT, inxhinieri dhe mjekėsi.

Vlera e kėtij ēmimi ėshtė edhe mė domethėnėse, sepse pėr ne ėshtė nder qė pėrmes kėngės polifonike shprehėm dashurinė nė kėtė festival ku u kėndohet trimave tė shquar tė luftės, siē ishte Mujė Krasniqi, i cili u flijua pėr lirinė e Klinės dhe tė Kosovės.
Instrumentisti mė i mirė kėtė radhė i takoi tupanxhiut tė Matit, kurse vallja mė e mirė u zgjodh ajo e grupit nga Librazhdi.

Po, klubi i Winterthurit ėshtė i interesuar pėr mua. Ata mė kanė bėrė njė ftesė pėr tė shkuar atje, tha Llumnica.
Ai pret qė brenda disa ditėve tė shkojė nė Zvicėr dhe merret vesh me zyrtarėt e Winterthurit, pas takimit me ata tė Prishtinės, tė cilėt sipas tij, i kanė dhėnė aminin tė ikė nė shtetin helvetik.
Tė mėrkurėn pres tė pajisem me vizė dhe tė udhėtoj, pasi qė edhe vetė kryetari i klubit, Remzi Ejupi mė ka dhėnė dritėn e gjelbėr. Tash pėr tash kjo ėshtė e tėra, pasi pres tė takohem me drejtuesit e klubit tė Winterthurit dhe mė detajisht do tė mėsoj se ēfarė do tė ndodhė, tha kapiteni i Prishtinės.
Sipas informacioneve tė para Fazliu mund tė kalojė nė radhėt e ekipit belg, Sportkring Sint - Niklaas, i cili kėtė vit ėshtė promovuar nė ligėn e tretė.

Buddy Holly July 22nd, 2011, 11:55 AM Prizren Film Festival Comes of Age at Ten
Oscar nominated directors, worldwide music stars and international acclaim: the tenth edition of Kosovos documentary festival, Dokufest, has come a long way from a one-screen event in a city with no cinema.
Shengjyl Osmani
Ten years since the war-scarred city of Prizren in southern Kosovo held the first Dokufest, the documentary festival has established itself as a major event in the world of cinematography.
Aliriza Arenliu, Dokufests executive director, told Balkan Insight that the International Documentary and Short Film Festival had proved a great success: Now it is internationally recognized by famous producers and filmmakers and is growing more and more each year.
The festival has again upped its film count.
This year 180 documentaries and short movies from 55 countries will be screened at seven locations, including in the citys fort, on the Lumbardh river and, for the first time, in the League of Prizren house.
The Ottoman-era building played a key part in the history of the Albanian national movement in the 19th century, when Albania and Kosovo formed part of the Ottoman Empire.
From one screen in the first edition, this year we will have seven screens as well as a campsite, Doku nights, Doku kids and workshops and debates organized every night after the movie screenings, Arenliu explained.
Pamela Cohn, a New York-based producer, filmmaker, writer, and programmer who served on last years festival jury, told Balkan Insight that Dokufest was becoming more professional and internationally recognised with each passing year.
When I was chosen to serve on the international jury for last year's Dokufest I was so impressed by the festival and the town of Prizren, she recalled.
There is something special there, not only in the cultural event but in the people who put it on, she added. The gathering of industry guests from all over the world is impressive as well.
The festivals artistic director, Veton Nurkollari, announced this week that British pop star PJ Harvey would be presenting her latest project.
The special events of this tenth festival will include
PJ Harvey together with the producer Seamus Murphy, who will be discussing their latest album, Let England Shake, he said.
Some 300 guests, producers and filmmakers have confirmed their attendance and the organizers are expecting more than 10,000 visitors.
Other highlights of this years event will be the presence of Iranian producer Mohsen Makhmalbaf and James Longley, a filmmaker who has been nominated for an Oscar several times.
The two filmmakers will be present on stage to present their movies and field questions.
Arenliu noted that many producers and filmmakers who had attended the festival once keep coming back.
Cohn recalled that she and Veton Nurkollari became friends after meeting over the years on the festival circuit in various places.
He and his team have built a very strong international nonfiction festival event, one that can rival any of the more established ones in North America or Europe in its superb programming, she said.
The people of the region are very fortunate to have access to so many great documentary and short films, she added.
For this year's itinerary, Veton invited me to curate a strand of films as a contribution to the rest of the special programme to celebrate Dokufests ten-year anniversary.
We will be presenting eight fantastic international films on artists as part of this year's program. Im very honored and excited, once again, to be part of it all.
Arenliu regretted that the festival still received no institutional or governmental support, despite a promise by the then Minister of Culture at the closing night of last years festival to rectify this.
He is finding sponsorships through private entrepreneurs and businesses.
State institutions still havent grasped the value of festival, not just the artistic values, but the financial revenues for the whole city and county of Prizren, which we estimate to be worth around 3 million euro, Arenliu added.
Dokufest will also mark this years milestone with a retrospective of 15 documentaries or short movies from the previous nine editions.
To make our guests recall the documentaries screened in the previous nine editions, or to make it possible for our new guest review to know what have we screened in the past nine editions, we will have a night dedicated to the 15 best movies from the previous nine editions, Veton Nurkollari explained.
But Dokufest is no longer just about films. Live music, talks and exhibitions are an increasingly important part of the package.
Nita Deda, media officer for Dokufest, said an exhibition starting a day before the official opening of the festival, on July 22, titled Transit, will look at the theme of refugees and displaced people around Europe. It will be opened by Norwegian artist Espen Rasmussen.
Croatian designer Mirko Ilic, artistic director of the Times Magazine, will be moderating one of the festivals debates about the process of how the designers express their dissatisfaction with certain political or social topics through design, explained Arenliu.
Each night the festival will have entertainment from different local and regional artists and bands.
Dokufest opens on July 23 and closes on July 31. For more information visit www.dokufest.com/2011/

Picturesque Kosovo
Thursday, 01 September 2011 | Written by Venetia de Blocq van Kuffeler | | |
UNESCO World Heritage Site Granica Monastery
The New York Times listed Kosovo as one of its ‘41 Places to Go in 2011’, highly recommending its ‘mountains, medieval Byzantine and Ottoman architecture and unexpected nightlife’. Positioned in the centre of the Balkan Peninsula, Kosovo comprises a series of picturesque mountain ranges and pine forests interspersed with fertile green valleys. Only 10,908 square kilometres in size, most parts of the country can be accessed via a short drive from the border it shares with Macedonia, Albania, Serbia and Montenegro. What Kosovo lacks in coastline scenery it makes up for in the mountain and cultural heritage departments, and moreover visitors are always pleasantly surprised by the friendly café, food and nightclub culture found in Prishtina, the capital. This very young nation, which only declared its independence in 2008, has already become one of the more interesting, scenic and affordable destinations in the region.
Despite Kosovo’s problems and controversies, there has been much progress on the tourism front: a €1 billion highway project by American construction firm Bechtel is underway, government-owned hotels have been privatised and refurbished, various historic sites have won UNESCO World Heritage status, and Prishtina International Airport, in the midst of a 120 million Euro refurbishing and expansion, now welcomes flights from key global airlines including British Airways and EasyJet.
Visitors will also find that Europe’s youngest country likewise boasts the continent’s youngest population. Around half of its citizens are under 25, a statistic that comes to life in Prishtina, where, thanks in part to the return of enterprising young Kosovars from abroad, the streets are lined with cafés and restaurants. Over 500 espresso machines have been installed in Prishtina in the past three years since independence. During the hot, dry summers, these are full of young people at all times of day, creating an enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere. In terms of restaurants, Te Komiteti is great for a light lunch, with good daily specials, steaks and fresh fish. For drinks, head to The Cuban, which gets busy after 10pm and is especially popular for salsa dancing on Wednesday nights. The smaller hotels in the city’s central neighborhood of Peyton Place are reportedly the best in the centre of the city, while most cafés have lots of tables outside and can be lovely places to sit and watch the world go by. The Emerald Hotel, meanwhile, is Kosovo’s first five-star hotel, but it is located 20 kilometres outside Prishtina.
Heading out to the countryside, the hills and mountains have plenty to offer in terms of natural beauty. A visit to the mind-blowing Rugova Gorge, in itself worth the drive, is a good stop on the way to the Accursed Mountains, which straddle the border with Montenegro. There, spectacular granite cliffs climb almost vertically for a couple of thousand feet. And if caves are your thing, then the 1260-metre-long Marble Cave, discovered in 1969 in the hill of Murtur at Gadime, about 20 kilometres south of Prishtina, is well worth a visit; it is renowned for its smooth, mottled red, pink and brown marble walls, stalagmite and stalactite formations and rare crystals.
The White Drin River runs through Kosovo into Albania. Its source is at Zhleb Mountain in north-western Kosovo, where the river begins as a 30-metre-high waterfall, and is a popular tourist attraction.
Snowboarding in Brezovica
The Sharr Mountains extend from southern Kosovo and the northwest of the Republic of Macedonia to northeastern Albania. In the Kosovan part, many alpine and glacial mountain lakes can be found, especially south of the village of Dragash, the area of Shutman and the region north of Vraēa. The ski resort of Brezovica, with an elevation of 900m to 2,524 metres, is located in the northwestern mountains in Kosovo, and there are plans to develop it for summer as well as winter tourism. The Sharr Mountains National Park is the habitat of the lynx, bear, chamois, wolf, roe deer, wild boar and a rich variety of bird species.
Handicrafts have a long tradition in just about every city in Kosovo, the best-known being Prizren, Peja and Gjakova. Kosovar artisans are distinguished by their rich and skilled use of filigree, silver, copper, brass, argil, wood and other materials. Wonderful examples of such work can be found in souvenir shops throughout the country.
Archaelogical findings show that people were living in the region from the stone age. Later, from the second millennium BC, Illyrians, from whom present-day Albanians descended inhabited the Balkans, and the territory that is today’s Kosovo. The Illyrian tribe of Dardani occupied the territory of ancient Dardania, which was subsequently conquered by the Romans.
The Museum of Kosovo and the Ethnological Museum in Prishtina offer an exquisite journey into the past of the country. The former is located in an Austro-Hungarian inspired building originally built for the regional administration of the Ottoman Vilayet of Kosovo. Highlights include the Neolithic Goddess on the Throne terracotta (around 4000BC), unearthed near Prishtina in 1960 and depicted in the city’s emblem. The Kosovo Museum has an extensive collection of archaeological and ethnological artefacts, although many of them were stolen by Serbian authorities during the 1999 conflict. The museum currently seeks the return of these artifacts from Serbia in a cleverly designed campaign - ‘We want to go home.’
Market in Kosovo
Some of Kosovo’s main attractions are found in the remnants of its Byzantine and Ottoman pasts. Once the seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the city of Peja contains the Patriarchate of Peć, a complex of medieval churches packed with frescoes overlooking a jagged gorge, and the Deēani Monastery, built in the fourteenth century and filled with vivid biblical scenes. Architectual monuments from the Ottoman period include a number of fine mosques such as the Fatih Mosque (1461) in Prishtina, and the Sinan Pasha Mosque, in Prizren, which towers over Shadėrvan Square and dates back to 1615. Draped along the banks of the River Bistrica, backed by towering green mountains and dotted with elegant buildings constructed over many centuries, Prizren is certainly Kosovo’s prettiest city centre. This fascinating destination, covered by snow in winter and dust during the hot summers, is also renowned as a cultural capital, being home to many summertime festivals including the annual Dokufest for documentary and short films.
With all this on offer, why not try Kosovo for yourself, and spend a weekend in Europe’s newest state?
Dokufest film festival
For a week each summer, the picturesque Kosovan town of Prizren is peppered with cinema screens and teeming with visitors. Since 2002, Prizren has hosted Dokufest, an annual international documentary and short film festival where over 200 films from around 50 countries are screened. Last year, it was voted one of the top 25 international documentary festivals in the world.
But it has been a meteoric rise from humble beginnings. Diplomat caught up with Veton Nurkollari, Dokufest’s Artistic Director, who was quite plain about the fact that when he and a few friends set up the festival, they had neither the experience nor the intention to run an international event. ‘Back then it was very modest. We have had to teach ourselves; for example, we learned how to translate and subtitle films – we didn’t know how!’ It is incredible to think that Dokufest, the largest cultural event in Kosovo, happens in a town which has no cinema; ‘The aim was simple: we wanted a cinema in Prizren, but despite the huge success of Dokufest we still have not achieved this!’
Nurkollari, however, is pleased with what they have accomplished; the lack of a cinema has led to temporary screens being put up in unusual places – ‘open air theatres; there is even one over the river’ - one of the things which make Dokufest charming and individual. Dokufest also makes an important contribution to the area: culturally, of course, but also economically. ‘We give back a lot,’ Nurkollari points out; ‘we have revived the city. Each year, the festival brings several million euros to the country.’ But as with most projects at the moment, especially artistic ones, money is hard to come by; ‘Raising the budget is the biggest challenge. We are growing every year and we need more sponsors from public and private resources’.
As a foreign visitor, the striking thing about Dokufest is simply how fun it is. Alongside the edgy, interesting documentaries there are workshops, photography exhibitions, camping, concerts – all of which bring Prizren, a beautiful old town, to life, and attract a young, hip and lively international crowd. This year, musicians including Sofa Surfers and PJ Harvey were among the crowd. As one might expect, the festival is well-known for lively nights after film viewing is done. Nurkollari is keen on encouraging this youthful character; ‘In future, we plan to focus more on film production for the youth of Kosovo – this is what the workshops are for; we want to attract younger film-makers to come and learn to use the equipment and so on.’
Already a wonderful example of blossoming culture and tourism in this new state, it seems that Dokufest will only get better in its second decade of existence.
rene1234 September 19th, 2011, 06:23 PM Gryka e Rugoves dhe Bjeshket e Nemuna
Gryka e Rugovės, Kuēishta, Guri i Kuq dhe Boga e Rugovės janė kthyer nė njė destinacion tė rėndėsishėm tė turizmit malor gjatė kėsaj vere. Nė jugperėndim tė qytetit tė Pejės, sapo qyteti mbaron, nė anė tė rrugės pėr nė Grykė tė Rugovės, nė fillim tė saj, gjendet Patrikana e Pejės, e cila ruhet nėn masa tė rrepta sigurie nga KFOR-i italian. Vizita nė Patrikanėn e Pejės, megjithėse paraqet mjaft interes pėr vizitoret ėshtė njė “mollė e ndalueme” vetėm pėr shqiptarėt. Sapo kalon Patrikanėn para tė shfaqet madhėrishėm Gryka e Rugovės bashkė me lumin Bistrica qė e ndan nė mes. Qė nga kilometri i parė sapo hyn nė Gryken e Rugovės dhe deri nė lartėsitė 1500 metėr mbi nivelin e detit nė Kuēishtė, Bogė e Guri i Kuq tė shoqėrojnė dhjetėra lokale e restorante, tė cilat shtrihen buzė lumit Bistrica, ndėrsa nė Kuēishtė, Bogė e Guri i Kuq, hotelet e motelet, kryesisht tė tipit alpin janė tė ngritur nė lėndinat nė shpatet e maleve tė Bjeshkėve tė Nemuna.
Rruga qė ēan mes pėrmes Grykėn e Rugovės ėshtė e asfaltuar pėr rreth 40 kilometėr deri nė fshatin Kuēishtė, ndėrsa pėr tė shkuar nė Bogė e Guri i Kuq duhet tė udhėtosh nė rrugė tė paasfaltuar, por tė mirėmbajtur pėr rreth 6-8 kilometėr.
“Rreth 40 % tė vizitorėve nė hotelin tim janė nga Shqipėria, kryesisht tiranas e durrsakė”, – thotė Skėnder Thaēi, pronar i kompleksit tė ri “MAGRA” nė Bogė tė Rugovės. Ndėrkohė qė menaxherė tė kėtij hoteli, megjithėse i hapur me 15 korrik, bėjnė fjalė edhe pėr klientė “VIP” ku ato radhisin Princin e Lihtenshtejnit, por edhe kryetarin e KQZ-sė, Arben Ristanin. Ky i fundit kishte shkuar pėr relaks nė Bogė pas “lodhjes” nė zgjedhjet lokale, sidomos pėr nxjerrjen e rezultatit pėr bashkinė e Tiranės.
Emri i kėtij kompleksi turistik malor ishte njė bashkim i germave tė humanistes austriake Dr. Marianne Graf e njohur pėr ndihmėn e dhėnė prej 18 vitesh nė veri tė Shqipėrisė.
Pėr njė gjumė ēlodhės mund tė porosisni edhe njė ēaj mali special me termus, jastėk gjumi me erėza dhe borsė me ujė tė ngrohtė. Njė shėrbim tjetėr qė tė ofrohet gjithnjė kundrejt pagesės ėshtė banja me sanė (barė i thatė) njė metodė e vjetėr shėrimi nga trevat e Alpeve, kėndi pėr ecje kėmbė zbathur pėr largimin e stresit, dhe ajri i detit nė lartėsitė e 1450 metrave i improvizuar.
Burim uji ne bjeshket e Rugoves
Njė natė qėndrimi nė hotel kushton 20 Euro pėr person ku ėshtė i pėrfshirė edhe mėngjesi, ndėrkohė qė shėrbime tjera, pėrveē kėndit tė forcės janė me pagesė qė shkon nga 5-15 Euro. Por nė hotel gjenden edhe dhoma me ēmim mė tė shtrenjtė, pėrfshi kėtu edhe nga njė suitė pėr ēdo kat. Ndėrkohė, ushqimi pėrgatitet kryesisht nga prodhime natyrore tė bujqve tė zonės sė Rugovės, tė sigurta e me cilėsi, ku njė drekė nė kėtė hotel shkon nga 15-20 Euro pėr person. Mishi i vendit, prodhimet e qumėshtit dhe peshku pėrpunohen e shėrbehen nė hotelet, motelet e restorantet e ngritura nė Gryken e Rugovės.
Njė kujdes i veēantė i kushtohet mirėqenies sė kafshėve, nga ku sigurohen kėto ushqime. Tė gjitha ushqimet janė tė pa modifikuara gjenetikisht ku menyja pėrmban tė dhėnat pėrkatėse mbi burimin e sigurimit tė lėndėve ushqimore. Ndėrkaq ēmime paksa mė tė lira mund tė gjesh nė hotelet dhe restorantet nė fshatin Kuēishtė, ndėrsa ato tė Gurit tė Kuq janė afėrsisht tė njėjta me ato tė Bogės sė Rugovės.
Ndėrsa nė vjeshtė lėvizja nė ajėr tė pastėr, veēanėrisht nė mot me erė, gjallėron qarkullimin e gjakut dhe ripėrtėrin sistemin imunitar.

Sic duket kompania (qe eshte serbe ne mos gaboj) qe e ka s'e can shume koken per plane afatgjate. Kjo duket edhe kur merret parasysh reklamimi i vogel qe i behet Brezovices.

Ermir January 8th, 2012, 08:14 PM Komuna e Shterpces sikur kaloi me qeverine e Kosoves vjet!?

Nje kompleks i ri normalisht qe do te kishte cmime shume me te larta, dhe ndersa nje pjese e skiatoreve do perdornin te riun, pjesa derrmuese do vazhdonin te perdornin te vjetrin duke u nisur nga cmimi.
Per kuriozitet, pak a shume cila % eshte skiatore serbe dhe cila % eshte shqiptare ne Brezovice?

Pajtohem me kete.

I was in Brezovica this past weekend and stayed there for three days (my family owns a villa there, so I have no experience with the hotels themselves). The reason why the ski lifts were closed was due to the heavy (and I mean heavy) fog and snow. There was simply way too much fog for anyone other than hardcore professionals to ski. There are three ski lifts; two big ones, covering two different ends of the ski resort, and a smaller one that serves beginners and moderate hobbyists. That one was working since it doesn't take you high enough to be influenced by the heavy fog.
But as you've probably read in Snownjeri's updated in his Facebook page, all of the ski lifts have now opened and will remain open for the rest of the ski year. I've shot a video this past weekend, you can see it here (a respectable number of people even if there was a lot of snow making transportation to the resorts a pain in the neck). Just a couple more words on the food and amenities: the restaurants up there are very good (particularly "Tina") and the food is very reasonably priced. There's also a new hotel, "Woodland Hotel (http://www.woodlandhotel-ks.com/)", that offers modern amenities but the prices are accordingly higher (about 80 euros/night as far as I know). They also carry your luggage from the parking area to/from the hotel using snowmobiles since the hotel is integrated into the mountain and parking is a bit further down. There's also a lot of shops to rent skis, buy a ski pass, etc.
You can see the video here:

The new ski resort would be located in the same municipality, but would avoid those pesky property issues since it would be located around Firaje and Brod, two Albanian-inhabited villages. The investment would be around 70 million euros, concession-based. The board dealing with the new ski resort is set to meet pretty soon. This is first-hand information, but whether it'll happen any time soon is anyone's guess.

But how logical is it to have two major ski resorts so close to one another?
I am not a bit snow sports fan myself but I think it would make more sense to invest in a brand new resort on a different location (such as Boga, for example) while privatize the existing complex in Brezovica to a, hopefully, known and reliable Investor a so that he may not only refurbish but also add additional capacities to the resort.

I don't know, but since the European Commission in RKS is involved, they must have done some studies that conclude that it can happen. The new one could be more modern, upscale and thus more expensive, while the old one could be for budget travelers, those that are mainly concerned with the tracks, and aren't very picky about restaurants, and hotels.

Or around Bajgora in Mitrovica, but the slopes may not be as nice as in Brezovica.
