MARINGÁ, Paraná, Brazil

Population Municipality: 331.412 (IBGE/2008)
Population Metropolitan Area: 591.150 (IBGE/2008)

Brazilian cities don't have huge sprawling green suburbs. The urban pattern is completely different. Maringá is maybe the greenest city in Brazil.

SINGAPORE

Within the urban areas of Singapore, greenery is incorporated as much as possible into the urbanscape in some of the following ways:

1) Parks (can be full scale parks, smaller gardens or interim green fields)
2) Park-connectors (networks of linear pedestrian paths linking parks. Frequently found beside canals or built over canals, thus saving space and adding greenery)
3) Streetside-landscaping
4) Sky gardens and green roofs.
5) Urban design controls (planning requirements imposed on developers mean they may set aside space for outdoor landscaping and open plazas)

Examples:

A park in the civic district

Nature trails are incorporated where possible to allow an urban escape. The latest to open in Singapore are the Southern Ridges trail, extending westward from the city outskirts:

Odesa looks stunning - the streets must be beautiful there.

The term "green city" can have several meanings.

1) There is green in an environmentally-conscious way. So cities that are implementing policies to reduce energy use, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce water use, reduce garbage, and reduce their impact on the environment in general (I think Sweden probably leads the way)

2) There is green in the leafy-green-parks-and-trees green This thread is about cities with lots of parks and green-space.

Thanks! I really feel that that video is a big improvement to my other video game videos. The other ones seemed to drag on too much both in length and pacing. I think I'm getting closer to the formula I need to achieve for my videos but I still need as much feedbacks as possible to reach that point.

London is full of green areas but its development reducted green to park areas or gardens as they say.

That picture of Rio de Janeiro is unbelievable.

Tks for sharing.

Rio de Janeiro holds two huge urban forests:

The Parque Estadual da Pedra Branca is considered to be the largest forest in urban area in the world. It has 12.500 hectares.
http://www.parquepedrabranca.com/menu/03/fotos/01/foto02.jpg
http://www.parquepedrabranca.com/menu/03/fotos/01/foto02.jpg

And the "Floresta da Tijuca", which is considered to be the third largest forest in urban area in the world, with 3.972 hectares of preserved area. This forest is not natural. It had been destroyed to make way for Coffee farms, but in an effort to preserve Rio's water supply, in the 19th century, the forest had been rebuilt, to preserve the rivers sources.

Many nature reserves close to the city. Even suburbs feel like they're in the bush sometimes here.

If by "green", you mean efficient, then Portland, Oregon is second in the world on many lists.

Where's the city? It looks like one building on top of a hill. I guess that makes any rural area a green city?

The European green capital award 2012 of the European Comision goes to Vitoria- Gasteiz, Spain.

More than 40 m2 for each inhabitant in green zones, 20 m2 of green zones in the city center and 20 m2 more in the green belt, inspired in the old green belt of London.

The Maiorhall decrease in a 20 % the waste in water.
More bicycles and more public transport.

More information here..

If you downloaded the Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Key (http://www.microsoftoffice2007key.com/) Office system Beta 2 Technical Refresh you may have noticed that all the Office splash screens and icons are now more slick looking and different. They area partially-rounded box shape, as seen in the Office Professional 2007 Key (http://www.microsoftoffice2007keygen.com/) here, and I think it adds a little something to the look and feel of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Key (http://www.microsoftoffice2007productkey.com/). Of course this isn't by any means a big new feature, but I am always interested in little UI tweaks that Office 2010 (http://www.microsoftoffice2010.us.com/) draw the user a bit more toward a product based on the look, which the new icons in Office 2010 Standard (http://www.microsoftoffice2010key.com/) does.

Oslo must surely be among the more greener cities around. Personally I think the city is actually too green as all the trees and parks hide a lot of beautiful architecture and makes it almost impossible to take any skyline picture featuring actual buildings and not only threes. We have also 1700 km² with forests surrounding the city in additional to the inner city parks and threes.

^^ PLEASE!! Either credit these photos or I will have to delete them. I am not sure why this is such a difficult message for us to get across: "WE CANNOT ALLOW UNSOURCED PHOTOGRAPHY ON SSC".

Edmonton is the most northerly city in North America with a metropolitan population of over one million.... Edmonton's river valley constitutes the longest stretch of connected urban parkland in North America, and Edmonton has the highest per capita area of parkland of any Canadian city; the river valley is 22 times larger than New York City's Central Park.

Two of my cities known for their density are actually very green just outside the city.

In Barcelona the green lungs are the collserola mountain range.

In Hong Kong there are green hills everywhere. Even when you are in the middle of the city just minutes away.

Bratislava (Slovakia) was founded on the place, where Danube river meets Carpathian moutain range. The city is sorrounded by the Carpathian woods and also by Danube virgin forests. Two large protected areas lies in the outskirts of Bratislava: Donau-auen National Park a Little Carpathians protected area. Right in the city, there are rests of the former woods changed onto a parks.
