Good paycheck to do that job. If I am not scared of height, and have the ability to do like that, definitely that is my kind of job. Imagine just wiping high rise window..and the view that you get with camera beside you :D

But you have to earn some sort of certificate to be able to get the job. Not that easy as it seem ;)

The land next to The Renaissance actually is part of Kampung Baru - a desinated Malay-agro reserved land for over a hundred years already (a legacy of the Malayan British Administration). The land here are not transfereable to non-Malay ownership which explains why Kg. Baru is still undeveloped. ;)

The Msian govt are now thinking of what to do with the status of this big piece of land.......

First, we have a centuries-old traditional Malay kampong smack in the city center... And not forgetting the million year old rainforest (real one, not replanted forest!) of Bukit Nanas... That's also a rarity nowadays!

We have a kampong-like coffee shop in Little India surrounded by shophouses.

I think it's the lack of consensus that Kg Baru is rather undeveloped. There were also Malay-based developers who wish to play a part but also failed because of this.

Lack of consensus holding back Kampung Baru plan

PUTRAJAYA: There is no progress in the plan to develop Kampung Baru because landowners cannot reach an agreement on the matter.

This is the main obstacle in the implementation of the plan to develop the area, said Federal Territory Minister Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad.

He said since the land was categorised as Malay agriculture settlement, every landowner needed to agree to the development plan.

?The land is almost like tanah adat (customary land) whereby every landowner must agree before it can be developed.

?There is no other obstacle as the land can be leased and developed just like any other land,? he said yesterday.

Most of the land has been slotted for mixed development under the plan.

Mohd Isa said efforts were underway to persuade the landowners to agree to the plan so that the whole area could be developed in line with the Kuala Lumpur Structural Plan which is expected to be gazetted at the end of the month.

He said some of the land was jointly owned by as many as 30 people and this created problems as only some of them agreed to the development plan.

Condition by Kampung Baru residents easy to meet, says Isa

PUTRAJAYA: The Government is prepared to accept the condition set by Kampung Baru residents who want only bumiputra developers to re-develop the area, Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Mohamed Isa Abdul Samad said.

?If that is their only condition, I think it is not a problem to find a bumiputra developer. It is not a difficult condition to fulfil,? he told reporters yesterday after chairing his ministry's post-Cabinet meeting.

Nevertheless, the ministry needed to study the legal aspects on the status of Kampung Baru before implementing the re-development plan, he said.

He also said the ministry's legal adviser and legal officers from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall would discuss the enactment or the status of the Malay Agriculture Settlement.

The status of Kampung Baru as a Malay settlement was gazetted by the British under the Land Enactment, 1897 as a Malay Agriculture Settlement.

As a result, plans to redevelop the 103.6ha area were hampered.

Isa said the owners' co-operation was crucial before their land could be re-developed.

?I will meet them to explore the options available.?

Isa also said his ministry had allocated RM1.6mil to build recreational facilities in 15 areas in Putrajaya. ? Bernama

Anyway, I think it should be a conservation area.

The older part is the one that you saw from your hotel room which the pic I don't have. It's also way smaller than the newer area .
Some of the buildings in the Kampung deserves to be conserved as some were built in the late 1880s and regarding it to be made a conservation area, well there are plans to make it a cultural centre :)
